I think your reply sums up the situation fairly well.

While I don't agree that bans are actually a serious threat to anybody genuinely trying to be funny (and retarded all-lowercase off-topic one-liners don't count as genuinely trying), I don't see much potential to try much of an advance on the "funny" track at the present activity. As for providing interesting discussions, and, by proxy, content, I think this can be done, but it needs a simultaneous effort from everybody. Discussion lives off feedback, and another person trying to contribute content only to run into a wall of one-liners and tl;drs every month doesn't exactly provide such.

I see potential in the Debate and ROM Hacking forums, for the moment, as well as, to a lesser degree, H/S and Programming. As for Spatula... well... let's not talk about that

Nice, looks like the phpMyAdmin crash bug from earlier was fixed... also, I get the impression, though I might be just seeing things, that the colours in the UI, particularly the back/forward buttons, were toned down to be a bit less flashy/aggressive.

extensions.checkCompatibility=false is go~ (though it would appear that extensions like Firebug don't quite work properly when forced that way)

I think it would be efficient to drop the N-Bombs on Officer's Club altogether. Even back when it was active, it wasn't used for much more than trolling.

That, or your /16 IP range (i.e. the first two digits; should normally stay constant unless you change providers) changes. Login cookies are bound to it now.

The only extension that didn't work by default for me was Smart Middle Click (for those annoying Javascript links that don't open in a new tab when middle clicked). The Web Developer Toolbar still doesn't work, but that hasn't worked in any of the betas. I suppose I could force them to work, but I think I'll just be patient rather than take any chances.

The Web Developer toolbar worked natively in Beta 5. With forced execution, it works fine in RC1 too.

Some Acmlmboard developers had the habit to prefix MySQL calls with @s, suppressing error output... try removing any of those before mysql_ functions in register.php and trying again.

As it is, you need to provide a birthday when registering; otherwise, mktime returns an empty string. The easiest way I can think of to counter the resulting problems is replacing the aforementioned line with the following:

I was lazy and just made it make an additional query for each post rendered.
Then, judging from what you'd essentially need to do to pick the correct rank for a given user (join unto ranks where the rankset# matches and the number of posts required is below or equal to the number of posts the user has, order by descending number of posts, limit 1 since MySQL wouldn't allow something like p=max(p)), this might actually be, for all means and purposes, the faster solution, though less elegant. Having compared the average render times, the 20 or so additional queries per page didn't have any visible impact within the first three digits at all.

We can talk about wrapping around when somebody actually reaches that postcount.

As for adding the other ranksets, it's just a matter of INSERT [...] SELECT [...] and cp calls. In fact, I think I'll add Zelda now while I'm at it.

It might help to check your posts-per-page settings and ensure the DB structure version actually matches the code version.
