I like those graphics a lot. :o

Are they implemented as sprites (how?) or as a falling layer 2?

A logical next step for debugging would be to set up a rudimentary httpd of any kind on your localhost and see if you can connect to it at least.

Nice job there.

I see the levels themselves are built up from those panels/macroblocks, but, assuming those become editable, what would be the smallest modifyable unit (8x8/16x16/32x32?)?

Also, did you have any look at the F-Zero music engine yet? I heard conjectures about it being the same as the early N-SPC in SMW, but didn't get around to confirming or disproving those myself yet...

Fun in the same immorally twisted, condescending way watching a retarded kid enthusiastically drinking from a vinegar bottle is, perhaps.

Can't they at least produce the impression of trying to keep the stupidity in check?

I get the feeling that if I start banning people there will be cries of 'POWER ABUSE'. =P

If you have a fast enough ban finger, they won't get to.

To quote sprtool's readme file,

********************************************************************
* configuring a sprite
********************************************************************

Sprites are specified by a .cfg file, which is a simple text file. Two examples will be gone through below.

There are two types of sprites, type 0 and type 1. Type 0 means that you simply want to give different properties to an existing sprite. This is similar to using Tweaker to modify a sprite, but this way you won't overwrite the original. Type 1 means that the sprite is a true custom sprite.

Type 0 example:

squashable_goomba.cfg:
00
0F
30 00 04 00 00 00

The first line of the .cfg specifies the sprite type. Here it is 0 because we just want to tweak an existing sprite.

The next line specifies the "acts like" byte. This is the value that gets put into $9E. For type 0 sprites, it should be set to the sprite you wish to use as a base.

The next line specifies the sprite properties (6 bytes separated by spaces) that are put in the main sprite tables (1656, 1662, 166E, 167A, 1686, and 190F). These are the first 6 bytes of the Tweaker code.

Type 1 example:

venus.cfg:
01
36
81 01 08 00 10 20
00 00
venus.asm

The first line of the .cfg specifies the sprite type. Here it is 1 becuase we have a true custom sprite.

The next line specifies the "acts like" byte. It's the value that gets put into $9E. For type 1 sprites, it should almost always be set to 36.

The next line specifies the sprite properties (6 bytes separated by spaces) that are put in the main sprite tables (1656, 1662, 166E, 167A, 1686, and 190F). They are the first 6 bytes of the Tweaker code.

The next line specifies two additional property bytes that can be used by the programmer. They are put into tables at $7FAB28 and $7FAB34.

The last line is the name of the asm file that contians the sprite code.

Assuming you got it, that file is on your HD as well.

Please, the next time you consider to make a thread asking a question, check if a help file or similar stuck with the relevant program answers it first.

You can make such a file with any text editor, e.g. notepad.

While money itself doesn't seem like quite much of an issue to me - at least at the moment - (looking at average wages in computing, my thoughts mostly are along the lines of "what in hell am I going to do with that much money"), I do kind of share your feelings at time, except in regard to my education. Every minute spent on spare time projects, for me, means a minute I could spend doing a minimum of preparations for subjects I can't score in without doing anything (ex: History) or improving my knowledge in something altogether different (advanced maths, languages) "wasted".
However, as long as I just do keep dedicating a minimum required amount of attention to those fields, I feel like I am doing the right thing. This might sound like a terribly pathetic thing to say, but, assuming you happen to be one of those (un?)lucky ones who get to anticipate their end, be it due to disease or high age - at some point, lying in your deathbed, you will ask yourself if your life was worth it, and the answer you will give yourself will hardly be a function of the amount of money you earned in the course like in some arcade game revolving around high scores.

To boil it down, the stance of me, an 18 year old who never had to earn a single penny of his own money yet, is that you should do something yourself and others will remember you for, no matter how irrelevant.

Did that make any sense at all? I just literally went wake up->turn on PC->acmm.kafuka.org->latest posts->this thread->new reply.

Well, I know that "traduction" means translation in French, so it wouldn't be unnatural to assume it is similar in other Romance languages...

Either way, since this thread has served its purpose and isn't going anywhere anymore, I'll close it.

1/10.

Every kid knows that has been around since incarnation 1. Not counting those that haven't been themselves, that is.

Romantic.

Did you pick the remix in the background up on the tubes or make it yourself?

I had given an early beta a shot, and found it to be much more of a memory whore than Firefox 2 even... also tried installing the new V3 beta on my Lunix box tonight, but I was missing some libraries and didn't feel like grinding repositories for dependencies.

The most important extensions for me are the web developer toolbar and DownThemAll... as far as the others are concerned, I can live without them, at least for a while. Well, maybe I would miss AnEC as well...

Why so?

Back when functions like that were built into browsers, everybody said building them in was stupid.

I sure learned to despise that mint green default BG over the years

The lava in the third SMB3 screen looks somewhat messy, though it could be an animated version of it performs better.

What's the fourth screenshot from?

Happened before.

There is nothing more frustrating than making lengthy, elaborate posts with the on-screen keyboard...

C:\windows\system32\osk.exe

There was some more "formal" way to start it, but I forgot about it.

Try to cut it down to use less levels (there is hardly a problem with sticking two levels with the same graphics and header settings into one); we are sure to get space problems earlier or later.

...and aren't writing extensions for it, on that matter.

Well, I still hold kind of a grudge against FF3 because of the developers' decision to not include SVG+SMIL animation into it...

This thread is pointless and has few to nothing to do with SMW hacking. Please exercise common sense when posting.

Please put more thought (and grammar, on that matter) into your posts, especially when you try to make a new thread.

I'll trash this for the time being.
