Still, from the representative/OLPC point of view, this looks all too much like "The western governments mercifully donated a hundred thousand bags of food remains which might still be partially edible to the African countries"...

You are either going to hate this game or love it. The former is more likely.

The author writes he was inspired by those 2ch platformers (like the one linked in General Chat the other day), but having seen a number of those, I must say none of them was quite as frustrating and so mean that you go back and forth between spasms of laughter and being on the verge of crying during gameplay. Either way, give it a shot.

For the record, I'm currently at Mecha Birdo on the upper path, Mother Brain on the lower and halfways started the third path which shall remain undetailed to avoid spoilers.

Yeah, though that doesn't mean using the original instruments is banned altogether. We can far overstep the amount of instrument data in SMAS too by rewriting the engine to upload a different set of samples based on the song number, which is a rather trivial task.

I grew up in the third world, they don't wait for open source, they just pirate games

...and you don't?

Also, whatever "third world" you are talking about is not the "third world" that is commonly referred to as such, because in the latter, they hardly ever have internet, let alone machines powerful enough to run modern games... let alone computers to begin with. That's why OLPC was started in the first place.

The days of free higher education are pretty much over here too, now that all universities introduced studying fees with the considerable prospect of rises in the future... though, I guess, it's nowhere near the US price level here yet (costs per semester range from some $400 to ~$1500)...

The link works; mind the line break. =02&c=2&id=289>a href=http://www.mfgg.net/index.php?act=resdb¶m

Opened and untrashed, for that reason; however, I get a "CNCS32.DLL not found" error on startup.

Not to be picky or anything, but the 20 maximum was suggested by Ailure, not me.

Also, "Don't vote for more than three people, and try to keep it down to only one. Names that are in strikethrough will be ignored." might require clarification; otherwise, somebody might think they are only allowed to hand out votes for a total 3 different people...

Well, I'd draw a line between "hopeless"/"third world" and "developing" countries, yours definitely belonging into the latter group... while I can't really say how much that stereotype holds true, the former would be like those countries where they live in mud huts and have 10 children each out of which 6 have innate defections due to undernutrition. After having experienced the internets dripping though the wire with some 0.4KB/s (nominally 4.8kbit), if working at all, in the rural areas of Russia (which is hardly considered a third world country), I was ready to assume the situation must be considerably worse in those. Russia has an abundancy of pirated software too (to the point you have street shops selling retail software CDs at like $2 each on every corner in million-citizen towns like St.Petersburg), but I don't think that's the kind of country that was propagated as OLPC's aim. Also, I have a hard time believing they'd use those for schooling in the USA when I heard of another Swedish acquaintance (MasterOfMuppets, Ailure might have talked to him once) getting a school-subsidied "proper" laptop for an only roughly $100 personal expense.

Also, another reason there's no parked car categories: I'd be the one hit by the car... and driving it too.

Disputable, that.

Trapster and jargon would be this year's favourites.

I'll speak for most of the people here.

I've played this game, and it fucking sucks.

Quoted for truth.

Seriously, this just doesn't even remotely live up to today's standards for freeware games.

Your poll puts too much emphasis on the "mainstream" genres. If many people vote, I predict getting a lot of votes for "other"...

As for me, it's video game soundtracks (the bulk), classical music and (some) J-pop/anime soundtracks.

I have four bosses beaten now (
Spoiler:Tyson, Mecha Birdo, Dracula (the fully voice acted intro was BRILLIANT) and Bowser/Wart/Dr.Wily
, in that order) and advance through the Tetris path. Let's see what horrors it holds~

The "in between two blocks" about that sprite is purely graphical, since you can only position sprites down to a block in levels anyway. Its physical position is its top left tile.

What kind of "savestate" and what links this to SMW hacking?

Also, the thread title you used is a model example of what not to do. It contains not even a remote hint to the nature of your problem, a stupid abbreviation and capslock ("PLZ") and three exclamation marks. A correct title for this one would along the lines of "Problem with YY-CHR".

Make a screenshot of YY-CHR after you loaded a file and post it? That sure would help with figuring out what you are doing wrong...

Also, if you really want to say incognito, you shouldn't make your email address reading "smwfreak95" be in plain sight. SMWFreak... weren't you banned here for stupidity before?

Cut down the spamming a bit... "qft" posts are pointless.

Either way, I think spellchecks are just a bad excuse to not learn grammar and orthography yourself. Personally, I'd rather prefer if there were none since it would help to tell apart the morons who can use spellcheck from the actually intelligent people.
