If this feature was well-used, it could be used to create a certain undesirable amount of confusion; imagine you enter a forum after a night's rest and have to sort out which thread was which yesterday.
Having to ask a moderator to do it serves, at the same time, as a bit of a "required effort barrier" keeping the unserious/unnecessary requests down.

Besides, if you had read the thread more thoroughly, you would have seen that thread editing functionality for staff was integrated into the existing thread.php, so a separate editthread.php became superfluous.

As far as I know, devices like the Game Genie function by intercepting read operations on the cartridge. Since even mappers are hardcoded into NES emulators and this is well above mapper level, it's pretty much impossible unless the emulator itself explicitely implements it in some nonstandard manner.

At least not in a trivial way, that is... you could always track down any occasions of your location being written or read (whichever of the two is less frequent) in a disassembly and overwrite it/switch around the read value to what you want...

The levels do look interesting in terms of design. Regarding the SMAS graphics though, my position on those is that they already were overused two years ago.

Make some of your own or at least rip something less commonplace?

You wound up looking more like some kind of video game character than emo. Then, with some character designs you see, the transition is a smooth one...

Nice; however, you need more contrast between the FG and BG, be it through colours or brightness/saturation. The pipes stick out as if they were in the foreground.

Having played through this, I liked it a lot. Needless to say, the graphics (did you do all those by yourself?) are freaking sweet, and I like your level designs.

A number of problems I encountered on the way are sprite slowdowns (especially in the earlier levels with the volcano flowers... never liked those to begin with ) and the usage of the castle tileset for the first inside part of the ghost house level appearing a bit out of place to me (also, I think it could use a distinct from the castle BGM...). Also, you forgot to render the not-yet-revealed overworld paths impassable.

Keep up the good work.

I assume all the previous nightly features like arbitrary railroads below bridges made it into that beta then?

Either way, I'm up for it.

Don't mind the shitty font (5 minutes in YY-CHR) nor the blue bottom rows (copying one byte too few D:).

Except IE doesn't support half the stuff needed for the better themes for the board to render properly...

The game seems to freeze on me with a black screen after the contemporarity cutscene showing Chrono's party defeat the 65M BC dinosaur thing... (using headered version)

I'd take tracelogs of what exactly happened, but no debugging tools at hand right now.

Either way, for what I've seen up to this point, it seems like a considerably quality hack. Won't write up extensive judgements before having played all the way through it though...

Well, some advance knowledge in N-SPC (as present with me and Keitaro) was assumed, and MIDI wouldn't really be of any use to actually getting the music in game... the only non-emulation tracker format I can import from well at the moment is Cave Story's .ORG. If you want (and know) how to write something in that (there is a decent, "official" tracker for the format), you are welcome to.

So leaving oldschool gamer subcultures like ours out of consideration, in the future, the "3rd world" will play ancient 2D games while western gamers contribute to global warming with cooking plate/graphics card hybrids and Crysis. I see where this is going.

Though, who knows what the open source community will make out of that engine...
