*bump*

It would appear that they finally brought out a new release[1]. However, with all the limitations on the "non-bought" version in place now, despite some somewhat interesting seeming upgrades, it actually seems worth less than the previous build.

At this rate, I'll probably look for a crack; if that's how few of the gameplay is going to be viewable in the demo, it wouldn't suffice to commote me to pay for it (and I can imagine it's the same for many others)

Thoughts?

We really should appoint some kind of "bureaucrat leaderboard" for the keeping the crap out part of it...

Official advertising? Like what are you thinking of?

Remember, this hack still should be mainly representative of board2.

It would appear those can only modify what would be considered databases in RM2k terms, i.e. character stats or what-not... it's a shame that this is, often enough, as far as RPG hacking goes. Somebody should make a proper map/scenario editor for a Fire Emblem game (or another similar tactics one, on that matter).

If you have an SMW ROM somewhere, you always could apply the test edition patch from a few posts above...

So can u tell me what I am doing wrong or tell me how shooters work?

DO:
  • Use proper grammar and avoid '1337speak' and AOL speak (u/ur/y/ in place of words such as you/you're/why). It is a good way to gain respect.

Notice the conflict of interest here?

To partially attempt answering your question, the "does not appear" part isn't that unusual if you already have many sprites in proximity. SMW only can handle a certain amount of them at once and will just refrain from spawning excess ones. As for the other thing, I'll leave the answering attempts to those more proficient with sprtool...

Nice attempt at trolling (:<), but I didn't ever plan to be anything like a spriter for this (nor do I think such a position is required since we aren't exactly aiming for nor can even realistically attain a uniform graphical style). But yeah, smwedit, don't take it getting no attention at the moment to heart so much... it just got a bit buried because of other questions being a subject of discussion at the moment. I find that idea definitively worth consideration.

What it comes down to is that you should retrieve the latest Icecast source package and follow the typical pattern of commands to install software from source in a unixoid build environment, i.e.
1. ./configure
2. make
3. make install
in the folder you extracted your source package into (which, in turn, can be done with tar -xzvf packagename.tar.gz).
You might have to install the development versions of a number of libraries (libvorbis etc.); this is best done with your distribution's package manager. The Icecast site should list somewhere which of those you require; as I am unfamiliar with SuSE's setup and whatever package manager it uses, I can only recommend you to consult your distribution's manual for how to search and install packages.

gmake, gcc, g++ etc. are packages you need to install as well then. Sorry, I didn't assume you wouldn't already have those.

Well, you are free to make suggestions whenever you want... chances are, however, that you won't be listened to on those, since that hack is supposed to be stuffed up with this board's in-jokes, especially in terms of bosses.

I heard of rats being implanted the gene for some deep-sea medusa's "glow-in-the-dark" protein before, but cats...

Let's just hope there are no furries in those laboratories. They might get ... weird ideas regarding what to do next.

In terms of overall hacking achievement and impressivity, it's got to be the seventh demo of Kichikuou Mario (鬼畜王マリオ, the "official" translation is "Brutal Mario" but it's more something like "Brute King Mario"). Then, there's also the SMO demo... Juggling Joker's SMW hack from way back, in terms of graphics changes... ATA's Extra Mario Bros. ... Mario Adventure...

Honestly, I can't think of anything else but Mario game hacks to list here beyond this point. The level hacking of those attained is far above any others I know.

Blatant advertisment. On top of that, I don't see the point of opening up a new forum for ROM hacking.

Trashed.

You use HTML in the appropriate fields in your edit profile page.

If you have no idea how to, it's better you don't even start since administration will most likely wind up nuking your attempts for being horrible anyway.

I'm still on my way through the original game. Too few time. Once I'm done, though, you can fully expect me to try starting something.

One thing I notice about the original game is that the level difficulty seems to lack any increase as you progress through the worlds... some levels in the later worlds feel like a bit of an insult to one's intelligency in places.

This is the right section if it's an SMW hack; otherwise, it goes into ROM hacking.

As far as SMW goes, HDMA effects are usually fairly safe assuming the underlying assembly code (the one that sets up the registers, tables etc.) is. It might become a source of trouble when it collides with other effects on the same channel... I vaguely remember channel 3 HDMA effects creating non-fatal glitches when they were triggered together with the circular close in effect of levels ending (which, iirc, sets the window left and right boundary per scanline to create the circular shape).
