Even with the original question-asker banned, it still makes sense to provide a reply to the topic so it can be referred to if the same question should appear again, avoiding the oh so common to ROM hacking reinvention of the wheel.

I copied Portal from a classmate a few days back and liked it a lot so far (currently being at level 18 or something... I advance slowly since I still get nausea from 3D graphics ). Who knows, maybe I'll consider getting the whole thing; however, wouldn't it be better to play the predecessor Half-Life games before the one contained here for storyline's sake?

How large would HL2 be anyway? (disk space used up, that is)

Can't they package it with a new HD or something?

The FAQ clearly states you are not supposed to post ROM links too... IPS patches can be made using Lunar IPS. They are both less legally questionable and smaller, thus more convenient to distribute.

I'll give you until Saturday to replace the present link with an IPS patch, then I'll just blank it out in your post.

I must say I chuckled for the largest part of your illustrated history of ROM hacking. You have quite decent writing skill.

Congratulations for a job well done.

Moved to the releases forum.

As for the tool, I'd have a look at it, but it's kind of hard with ~200KB space left on the partition with my ROM hacking folder
It could come in handy for certain purposes anyway, I guess... does it support all the IPS functions like RLE encoding and what-not?

Though I normally would go on to rant against iPods at this place, this actually looks fairly nice. Unfortunately, I only have one of those boring old 2GB flash memory sticks with dot matrix display.

I don't see why blood shood be a problem as long as it doesn't look cheesy (which it, granted, does in most, if not all, hacks with the intention of being "gory" I've seen so far)

Cellar Dweller: What do you mean by said "record of being useful"? Also, if you separate uploads from attachments, what difference would the remaining actual "attachment system" retain from just sticking a link to a file on the uploader at the end of the post?

Ailure: And conversely, I've seen the one or other skilled hacker write with grammar that probably would be lacking enough to trigger the filter...

I have written a very similar in functionality set of tools for SMW with DJ Bouche's SMAS music patch long ago.
The functionality both of our programs lack (or yours appears to, at least, I yet have to have a more extensive look at it ) is editing the ADSR data in the respective engines' actual sample entries (I can imagine beta N-SPC in SMW uses a very similar to the final version system). Either way, good job.

Legomen: It receives the PC (i.e. physical to the ROM image, counting header and what-not) address of a free ROM bank in the SMW ROM you want to operate on, presumably for the program to store the data of a larger sample block for the stock SPC copier code.

edit2: The difference appears mainly to be that my program pulls samples from other SPCs, thus not performing any BRR encoding on its own.

...a trenchcoat (like the ones they wear in The Matrix or like the one my friend has) in real leather...

...if you get that, make sure to post pictures. XD

As for me, I can't really think of anything... I didn't even put the monies my relatives gave me for my 18th birthday into any use yet. As long as my computer and internet access work, I'm fully satisfied with life.

The tileset looks way too bright for a castle tileset in my eyes anyway.

I put forth some tilesets for consideration on the Wiki as well, by the way.

In N-SPC, there are two tables - one physical sample table (what both our utilities are editing) and one "sample map" table which has physical sample ID, ADSR data and base pitch (this is the instrument ID that winds up being used by the tracks). The pitch slide is part of the actual track data for the songs or effects (while I haven't looked much into the latter, if I recall correctly, they are implemented as single tracks with support for the bulk of the song commands).
As for the music data format itself, there's really no need since the research on that for SMW has already been done and is publically available on the wiki of the 2ch SMW hackers (or rather linked from it).

http://www.kafuka.org:8000/stream.ogg ยท stats

The idea has been discussed (and experimental runs done) before; having stumbled upon a usable command line streamfeeder at last, I've decided to go ahead and set up a 24/7 version of it. The quality is rather high (128kbps 44KHz stereo OGG Vorbis) compared to other web radios too (though this might have to be regulated if the usage goes up too far).

Currently, there are very few songs in this (since my upload is slow and I had very few things encoded as OGG before); however, this can be changed (potentially introducing an automated uploader even) if you proceed to suggest songs to add to the feed. All are either from video games, anime or classical.

Feel free to tune in anyway.

Stop being so damn negative

On another note, uploaded some more songs, counting ~20 now...
