Ask NSNick. Last I saw it, he was casting unambigous looks at the stash.

The laptop, which I am currently on...

Mobile Athlon 64 3700+
1GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon X700
80GB HDD
some onboard sound chip which produces rather bad output

My desktop:

Athlon XP 2800+
512MB of RAM
ATI Radeon X800PRO
total 120GB HDD
Creative SB Audigy which produces rather good output (it was cutting edge back when I bought it, but you probably know how long ago it was that the plain SB Audigy was cutting edge)

Okay, I admit it. That was funny.
It better not lead to a huge quote chain now...

you've basically shot this thread in the foot now, you do realize that right?
Pretty much, yes

But on topic, quoting the last post always annoyed me too (unless it's for a small part) ... there's a few more examples of that in the photo thread too, do we really need to see each picture 3 times just for a few comments

sure we do. some people like to see themselves 3 times!

That image is as old as the internets.

In less retarded news, quote chains are fun.
(Or did I mean to say "In less fun news, quote chains are retarded"?)

The usage of the fancy binary icon and overall featureness suggests that there is some kind of toolkit for this kind of stuff. Bug Kawa about what he used, I'm curious.

Other than that, cute. xD

Our school blocks all ports but 80 and 443. (The reason behind this is that they were sorts of blackmailed by the school ministry to install their new content filter - if they hadn't, they wouldn't have been assigned any newer replacement for the 200MHz computer stock)
What I wind up doing if I need to go to IRC or a site they filter is tunnelling the localhost proxy I set up on the tRO server (I made sshd listen on port 443, since we are not using HTTPS). It's a bit complicated, but figures, it works.

For most purposes, I use mIRC. (Sure, the dialogue box at startup of unregistered versions is annoying, but meh... to date, I haven't found an adequate replacement for the mIRC scripting)
I used to use HydraIRC for a while, but figured it kind of sucked.

When connecting from Linux machines, I mostly use irssi. Then, there's AwesomeBotV2...

I play Alpha Centauri over the tubes versus Ailure sometimes, and (even more rarely these days) c-evo.
The latter is a quite awesome open-source Civilization 2 clone/look-alike (a good number of the game mechanics are changed for the better). I also helped port the AI interface/stub to C++ in like 2001, so my view on it is biased.

I should play that game some day.

Also, I've sure already seen better adaptations of AYB than this one.

Any way here is a new SS from crateria:

The palette in that screenshot does not look good. It's way too flashy and the colour transitions, breaking up with the original direction of gradients, make it look like more of a glitch than a thoughtfully created for that area palette.

You should redo it.

Weekdays: Anything from midnight to 2 AM - 6:30 AM.
Weekends: ~3AM - 12:00/13:00.

However, I am in my february break now, so it is more like 5AM ~ 14:00.

I tend to be a very deep sleeper, eagerly sleeping through alarm clocks and telephone rings. However, sometimes I find myself waking up in the middle of the night for no reason

Kejardon: Keep in mind F9 has to be executed right after an (audible) note was played, or you will hear none of it either.
Also, while I didn't try it out myself (yet), looking at its usage would suggest that the command itself "allocates" no actual time in the N-SPC and the timespace after it - i.e. the one it is supposed to affect - is instead being filled up with the "hold key" (C8) note.
Ex.:
40 AA // length 40 key AA
F9 78 78 BB // slide to BB; first parameters are not widely known to me and copied out of the track I was looking at 1:1
40 C8 // length 40 hold key
The total audible sound in that case would have the length 80.

I need to implement some sorts of a nicer display for that command in SST. xD

Most of the time, I start browsing Wikipedia at random. (As in, go to interesting article, start following links that appear interesting, proceed doing that)
From time to time, I also do things like playing OpenTTD against Ailure... or I actually work on one of my long-neglected projects.

I should write a bot or script of sorts to post in here when I am offline.

In fact, I probably will do that.

I usually shut down my machine when going to sleep, but that'sj just because my XP tends to clog up the system with processes/slow down when running for a longer while... clean start s really work miracles. From time to time, anyway. Wait, that remark didn't make any sense... but it's too late to remove now.
Sometimes, I just tend to writing out generic sentences in my posts to see what they would lok...look* like in that position and proceed to re-remove most of them.
But yeah, it generally takes me some s...effort* to keep myself from backspacing all the time. My usuak...usual... 110 wpm measured typing involves sometimes punching keys I am aware of being wrong to sustain remaining wrist/finger momentum, immediately backspacing them after that. I suppose I'd make a horrible typewriter user, but last time I reaklly used a typewriter was when I was age 5 or soemthing... figures.

The ISO format Eyeball Eaters mentioned is actually not a bad idea at all in my eyes. At least, it's some kind of nationality-neutral standard as opposed to all the myriads of vernacular forms. I'd need to look at the board code to see how easy it would be to make it selectable, but even so, ISO dates would be good to have as a default/for guests.

12 and 24 hour time should be switchable, yeah.

Xkeeper/Acmlm: Green light on implementing those? (y/n)

User-selectable date/time format, go. (editprofile.php)

Taking suggestions for more preset formats now; if it is required, I can add a "custom" option too.

I use the default tab. It's 4 characters wide in MS Visual Studio (and I actually prefer it that way), but even in 8 character defaulting editors like vi, I use it out of plain laziness.

For this board, it's 2 spaces though because that's Acmlm's style and the code would look like crap if everybody involved used a different indentation style.

From testing in Audacity, I found 18 KHz to be clearly audible to me. 19KHz a little quiet, and 19.5KHz appeared to be about the limit of what I can perceive. 20KHz=inaudible. Then, of course, this might already be touching the limit of what my headphones can accurately reproduce.

With MP3s, I stop hearing a difference from the original around 224kbps; while I didn't try out any of the intermediate sample rates, 44100<->196000 does make quite a difference to me.

From Solar Soundtrack's code. Gives a pretty good idea of my general formatting style. (Yes, changing back and forth between German and English comments all the time is part of it)

Nah, screamers are the funniest shit ever

That video would have been 200% more awesome if it contained a screamer for the unsuspecting watcher itself somewhere towards the ending.
