I figured somebody should start a thread like that...
So did this guy

Touché, I didn't think of that thread (though I had a vague feeling of somebody having done this before not too long ago, I successfully suppressed it before posting). Well, its initial objective could be seen as slightly differring from this one, so...

The classes you take look fairly interesting anyway... I'd gladly trade some of mine for some of those...

By "it won't play sound", you mean that ancient firmware-based audio CD/DVD playback feature that still is in most CD/DVD drives for some otherworldish reason? You are supposed to plug in an additional cable to that (should be a plan 4-wire jumper-type one if I am not mistaken); the drive vendor typically provides a cable for that in the package.
If you, on the other hand, mean the audio of a video DVD, I'd check if you have the necessary audio codec installed and configured your DVD player in the right way (Certain surround sound modi typically found on DVDs, like that AC3 thing, don't work anywhere, not to say never worked for me on any setup I had; switch to stereo or play Dolby Surround [speaker number]) and have the audio channel selected and not muted.

You could try getting something like GnuPG and using it to encrypt the browser's main binary. If the person in question can be expected to be capable of figuring out how to disable a firewall, I wouldn't count on that person not knowing how to install his/her own web browser though. Yeah, I suppose password-protecting the whole thing is the best option.

Apart from the occasional hacks (I blame Xk for most, if not all, of them ) here and there, I don't really see why this should be cleaner than the rest of board2's code is at the moment (NightKev, have you even seen it? ).

I also think stag019 is just being bitter because of not having been given the administrator/board coder position.

Whee, I found a way to reach a glitched/unallocated area in the "A Strange Dream" level.

Left-hand side: You get these two pictures in rapid succession, while still being able to move your figure, although in the typical glitchy "gliding through walls" way you might know from abusing SMW.

Right-hand side: Quick explanation on how it is triggered.

Former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel (D) - 86.49% match

Ohio Representative Dennis Kucinich (D) - 86.49%
New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson (D) - 71.62%
Connecticut Senator Christopher Dodd (D) - 70.27%

Delaware Senator Joseph Biden (D) - 64.86%
New York Senator Hillary Clinton (D) - 64.86%
Former North Carolina Senator John Edwards (D) - 64.86%
Illinois Senator Barack Obama (D) - 64.86%
Texas Representative Ron Paul (R) - 54.05%
Arizona Senator John McCain (R) - 51.35%
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) - 40.54%
Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee (R) - 29.73%
Colorado Representative Tom Tancredo (R) - 29.73%
Kansas Senator Sam Brownback (R) - 24.32%

Businessman John Cox (R) - 18.92%
California Representative Duncan Hunter (R) - 13.51%
Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney (R) - 13.51%
Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson (R) - 6.76%

I don't think I've heard of more than 4-5 people from that list...

It would appear Gravel and Kucinich are ABII's top candidates. Neither rings even just a small bell.

Reminds me I should finish playing that Japanese Phoenix Wright ROM Kawa gave me some time... (last time, I gave up after the first chapter because memorizing all the legalese terms gave me headaches)

It must be one of the internet's most parodied games...

It would require a bit of organizational barrelrolling and free time... but if we find more people who are up for it, sure.

Is this essentially the same thing BMF did with his blob character in the intro for SMO back in the days?

Would it be that hard hooking unto something that does (or changing the waiting process, if they really were as cheap as making it just busywait through the time) and making it upload tiles from somewhere in RAM to the VRAM?

Apart from this not being the right place for it (Gaming would indeed be better ),

1337 Hammer Bros., that nerd boss in whatever Mario game (what was he from again anyway) and now this... how many more winks to the geek community is Nintendo (or its English translation staff) going to give?

To condense it down to a version I think all parties can agree on, leaving out all the "that was good" or "that was bad" style judgement, writing in third person so this can be conveniently referred to if this question should arise again...

- Xkeeper, over time, started considering Acmlm more and more unnecessary/meaningless/a hassle to the board and himself de facto leader of the board, slowly reshaping it in a way he considered necessary; his reshapement goals can be seen more or less come true at Justus2.
- A bunch of people who have been around for a while found the changes to the spirit of the community to be to the worse and reckoned they had to something about it.
- A 15-minute difference/power argument over the EmuNET channel #acmlm between blackhole89 and Xkeeper (which could be condensed down to "blackhole89 had power over the IRC channel after having registered it, Xkeeper openly demanded to be handed it to be able to ban some people he doesn't like without potential interference") led to a first split of the community, at least its IRC part, roughly along the "for pre-Xkeeper Acmlm's Board way of running things" and "for Xkeeper's way of runnings things" line. Xkeeper used his formal superior status to blackhole89 on the board to declare his channel the new official board channel.
- blackhole89, Ailure and Emuz decided to ask Acmlm to remove Xkeeper from his position as long as he still had some formal executive power as 'that guy on the banner'. After a bit of discussion, Acmlm agreed. His ability to take responsibility for that decision/manipulatability in the matter is disputed by those who sided with Xkeeper, and retrospectively agreed to be somewhat doubtable by those who did not as well.
- The aftermath of Xkeeper's demotion turned out to be much heavier than Acmlm/Ailure/blackhole89/Emuz expected. Amplified by severe flamewars and multiple successful attacks at the board and its database mostly by Xkeeper and stag019 (the former initially successfully making use of a number of backdoors precautiously installed in the board code) and more minor things, Acmlm and Emuz soon effectively hid away from the events. Nevertheless, Acmlm could be convinced to approve of running a new staff reorganization which he never got around to evaluate later. Predictably, the on-board drama did not decrease in amount.
- Some time later, Xkeeper somehow managed to convince Acmlm to give him carte blanche to announce Acmlm's resignation and access to the board files. (read above for manipulatability theories)
Xkeeper closed down the board, replacing it for an advertisment for ||board and Justus2, a few log bits and a link to a pong game (oh, you >:), truncated the database and deleted all logs that remained on the server. Almost severed from the world of the internet due to being in Russia, having not much time to investigate what happened, blackhole89 took up a some 5 day old backup from who-knows-where. After verifying Acmlm's unwillingness to further deal with all the drama, his name was removed from the board, which is half-officially named Board 2 or board2 now.
- An ad-hoc commission of Ailure, blackhole89, cpubasic13 and Cirvante discussed out administrators and full moderators to appoint for the new forum now that Acmlm himself was gone. Since the posting of the concept also meant the quashing of some people's aspirations to move the whole board to ||bass' server/acmlm.org, it was severely attacked from all sides. cpubasic13 resigned at the sight of, figuratively speaking, "shit hitting the fan".
- To prevent further propagandistic (or "PR", to use a less loaded term) victories for the Justus2/Xkeeper-supporting faction and being fed up with the constant allegations of having abused power as a server hoster to seize control of the board, blackhole89 stepped down from all administrative positions. A bit later, he was asked by Cirvante to accept a local moderator without forum position and accepted.
- Though a certain drop in activity occured, the forum is in a stable state now and continues running.

tl;dr: The drama season is over. Move on with your lives. >>65372.

As much as I hate restating it instead of just ignoring you, how has listening to the formal owner of the board rather than an aspiring pretender thinking he is the best thing since sliced bread anything to do with untrustworthiness?

Dr_Death16: Technically speaking, if anyone, the person who started this thread - unknowingly - stirred this back up.
