You should double-check your airline's cabin luggage restrictions. Sometimes, they can be quite stringent - e.g. the 5kg (~10lbs?) limit on my flight to Canada. A simple "it's not going to be a lot anyway" won't always cut it.

The only thing that stands in the way of the scenario in the first picture in principle is the circumstance that by definition, getting the mirror far enough away to see scenes 20 years past through it and the light getting back from its position would require at least 20 years. If past generations had placed such a mirror far enough away (and if we had telescopes that are good enough, and there weren't problems due to diffusion of light) or it occurred naturally, e.g. as light bending around an object of high gravity, this would be possible in principle. My preferred range of temperature is between 10°C and 25°C. Depending on circumstances, I can deal with up to 38°C (humidity severely reduces that upper bound though); on the lower end, up to -30°C is bearable but I much prefer to get enough sleep and reduce activity so as to not expose my thin extremities to the cold excessively towards the lower end.

I don't have it and feel vaguely hostile towards both the company specifically and the concept generally; the former triggered me to establish an account on Google+ when it appeared, but as time progressed, that just reinforced me in my opinion that "social networking" has no utility to me whatsoever.

I rather like the ballpoint pencil shading in those that have it. Apart from that, I'm not sure that "absurd and abstract structure" constitutes challenging the traditional norms of a web comic... in fact, a structure that is sensible and concrete might be much more scandalous and unusual.

Sorry for my general non-following of this category of news, but what exactly was the original rationale behind this? This is the first time I hear that Jackson's death is supposed to have been caused by anyone in particular... is it just that desperate fans want someone's neck or is there actually some substance to this?

In the end, Google+ just seems to have tried to be both Facebook and Twitter at once and wound up being a vastly inferior substitute for either... (basic Facebook features still missing, too much clutter and awkwardness to replace Twitter)

I don't have Facebook or Twitter, but I know people who use both extensively and sort of see wherein their utility lies.

I do have a Google+ account, but that was more of a matter of going to see what the fuss is all about and possibly doing my part in case it does cut down the significance of Facebook. In practice, I don't think it ever evolved beyond gimmick status for me.

2012 is approaching reasonably fast (and might, in fact, already have reached some of you). Now, of course, in between all the pretending to have a life/family/friends/whatever the season calls for, it is always useful to remind ourselves that we are here forever - in that spirit: What have you been up to this New Year's Eve? Any non-numerical new year's resolutions? What do you expect the apocalypse to look like?

At this point, I might also use the opportunity to imply that some significant changes affecting the board will occur some time soon.
