All very nice! Keep it up.

The cutout piranha plants reminded me of this (Google image search; not intrinsically NSFW, but not all of them are SFW).

Hello.

Please familiarize yourself with the FAQ (essentially a set of forum rules), as it states:

I remember watching the first two episodes of Bleach a few years ago when a person I knew implored me to. I found the stupidity pretty unbearable and dropped it violently.

It's quite remarkable that this setup works at all. My previous laptop (which was more similar to yours than my current one is) constantly overheated even with its native cooling.

Props for showing willingness to solve problems in style. You would make a good Linux user.

I am a Linux user and I wish.

Before you can get anywhere with Linux, you have to spend weeks after weeks of approaching software problems in exactly the same spirit to make it work the way you want.

I mostly enjoy RPGs, some RTSes and a few turn-based strategy games as well as scrolling shooters (which are a significantly more tractable investment in terms of time). On the other hand, I positively detest the offensive dullness of your average FPS as well as most versus fighters (although the Touhou brawlers are quite entertaining at times if only for the cuteness).

I agree. This is not DeviantArt, and we should expect people's egos to be resilient enough to handle a "this is no good, get better". (For a concrete issue, the snout essentially looks like it begins somewhere to the right of the right eye.)

That looks quite neat, but I think the editor's UI would look a lot more polished if you just got rid of all the unused grey areas on the right.

Well, it seems like the worldview associated with that fundamentally is the same as in those RPGs where you go from dungeon to dungeon haplessly slaughtering $badguy's underlings for gold and xp but then are suposed to consider him a complete monster when he razes his first human town. That killing "the other guys" is something that is even comparable in principle to "your people" being killed is simply not a thought that occurs to them. Compare also to those facebook collages.

They were trying to protect the people of your country by toppling one of the very few regimes in the Middle East that was not run by Islamists? Or perhaps by ordering in a more or less explicitly top-down manner the flying of "terrorism subjects" into bases in countries without effective laws against torture and lawful imprisonment to question them without being encumbered by the nominal protections of your own law?

You're probably doing it wrong; either that or you have just about the worst imaginable luck. If it can't work the way you want it within an hour or two, it's too much effort
I think it's a mixture of doing things not many people do (displaying lots of a Japanese an a primarily English system, then installing a calligraphic-looking font for it before any regular ones) and being anal retentive about small things that other people would just put up with.

Anyway, more on topic, the dirtiest hardware hack I recall performing for computer access was this (closeup1, closeup2). I was on a class trip in London in my last year of school, but my travel adapter turned out to refuse cooperation, and on the first day, as I was sitting next to one of the few compatible sockets in the lobby, a part of the power supply cable (which had previously been bent) blew up with a loud bang. The first picture shows the contraption (involving a bottle of bad lemonade and cup to add the last few mm of height required) to get the plug to stay in the outlet designated for shavers (which worked with continental European plugs, unlike the regular ones), while the second one shows how I fixed the blown up segment of the cable (one of the wires turned out to still be intact - I bridged the gap in the other one with a straightened metallic paperclip. Perhaps surprisingly, in hindsight, no health and safety inspections of our hotel room took place.

I will probably try and throw it into a VM when I have a bit more time, though I only have VirtualBox and KVM-qemu myself so chances are it won't work. Anyway, from what I heard about win8 so far, it seems to be another step towards the appleification, or perhaps even "dismantling", of desktop computing... and I am really not happy where this is going, entirely in a "this is what everyone will eventually come to expect" way that invalidates "if you don't like it, don't use it" as a retort.

Unfortunately, I don't think I know any airliners operating on that route. The only general piece of advice I can give you apart from double-checking your luggage for weight and contents is to be at the airport with a sufficient margin of time before departure. You rarely get more than an hour between check-in closure and the flight leaving, and that does mean that if you arrive 10 minutes before it closes, there is a long queue and you get to a desk 1 minute after it does, they will not let you in. If it is your first flight, seeing to it that you are at the airport something the scheduled departure time minus 2 hours seems sensible to me.
