Are you sure this isn't just another April Fools joke? The date says 03-31, and it seems to be relatively common practice recently to backdate 04-01 articles to that so as to not make it blatantly obvious...

I use black-background colour schemes in vim (smaller-scale text editing and coding, like so) and white-background colour schemes in codeblocks and MSVC++ (when I use it) (larger-scale coding), and it would seem unnatural to me to change either.

Might really be just a habit thing, or perhaps that IDEs have lots of dark-on-bright UI elements that aren't easily inverted.

In Germany, recently, due to a failed government programme to switch to some novel "renewable" fuel, gas prices have gone up to 1.67 (€ / l) = 9.14235241 US$ / US gallon (conversion courtesy of Google).
