Thinking of people in that way would be slightly awkward if I ever met anyone associated with them.

So no, I never did.

The closest, I suppose, is a couple of people who, to my best knowledge, generally seem to have done a lot of things I consider admirable - say, Richard Feynman or Carl Sagan.

Do you need all the 138GB when running and exercising?

You'd probably die of exhaustion long before you can listen to all of it while running and exercising.

Yeah, there's also that. I would expect HD players of this generation to have reasonably low radii and powerful enough shock protection to survive something like that, unless the instructions explicitly say otherwise.

You can make a perfectly good NES game in Multimedia Fusion 2, check the YouTube link below. This guy was working on a game called Super Mario Bros. Fusion. It didn't follow all of the rules of the NES, as he used midis for music, and some other things, but he did release everything he had worked on up to this point.

Check this video out of his game, it looks like an actual NES game with a Mario/Zelda hybrid engine. It was part of the inspiration for my game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OT3nAU18eJs

Mario/Zelda/Metroid, you mean... yeah, that's pretty neat.

Most attempts to remake old games in new and easy-to-use-engines (think Flash) fail due to the creators using scaled-up graphics but not bothering to make movement grainy in a manner compensating for that, thus getting sprites consisting of 4x4 blocks moving around the screen in a perfectly smooth (and cheap-looking) manner. It's nice to see they seem to have averted this problem.

Well, yeah, and so is a photodiode. And this cookie I'm currently munching on is capable of taking the trivial picture (projecting all information onto the empty tuple)...

All being said and considered, I think pictures where you can't resolve more than a general blur suggestive of what was originally depicted (as is the case for all phone cameras I know) aren't really worth it.

I'm slightly curious as to why the other crew member with him is acting so credulous.

Don't they get basic logical thinking education in Starfleet? Like, something that will teach them to know better than to jump at the first distinctly earthling-looking bearded patriarchal figure with a deep voice in admiration.

Not sure, but it seems that all my recollections of horribly badly configured emulators on a low-spec system are of Super Mario World.

Anything prefixed with a dots is macros for the assembler; they don't get translated to an opcode and therefore aren't NES-specific.

Also, I did SNES (rather than NES), but I found I almost never had to look at manuals because it was mostly trivial to infer from the command names, format of the arguments and the way they were used what the commands were supposed to do.

You can't entirely get around using the stack, simply because there are some special registers you can only access through it. Either way, it's a trivial data structure that every self-respecting programmer should understand; read up the wikipedia article.

Data on the stack is stored in the RAM. There is an address associated with the stack in the processor, the stack pointer, and the whole thing basically works like
push x = decrement stack pointer by size of x and write x to the address pointed at by the stack pointer
pop(pull) x = set x to the data at the stack pointer and increment stack pointer by size of x

with the stack pointer initially pointing at something like $0200 for the NES (I think); note that it grows down. (Note: I might have the order of decrementing/incrementing the wrong way around; it depends on the system.)

Special registers? wut

Ah, the NES only really has one of those (the processor flags are only directly accessible through by e.g. PHA, PLP to write and PHP, PLA to read). The SNES does the same thing for a couple more.

also,
> 04:11:20 <NovaYoshi> blackhole89 got the stack address wrong
No, note that the semantics for the stack pointer I've written down assume that it moves first, then writes; i.e. if it starts at $0200 for an empty stack (or $00 if SP is only 8-bit), the first byte to be pushed would occupy $01FF ($FF). This assumption may be wrong, but I made that explicit and if it was the other way around, the stack pointer indeed should start at $01FF.

So apparently, Touhou 13 was announced, and a demo is due in some four days.

Discuss.

I have a collection of the most peculiar not-from-concentrate juice flavours. I really need to get to drinking them before they spoil.

No, I'll be picking them up and copying them into the radio as I find the time. (Songs getting visible praise/positive feedback/seconding in the thread will get prioritised, though.)

By the way, if it's at all possible, MP3s, or, even better, OGGs around 130kbps, increase the odds of the songs being added as the amount of work necessary to get them up there decreases.
