/b/, back when it was good.

The way Aaendi is putting it sounds outright respectable, if not somewhat epic.

There's always an ancient civilization... whose stuff still works long after they're all gone... I would link tvtropes but it's not quite working right now.

You'd be surprised about the artifacts of power buried deep in the board code.

Well, the Programming section doesn't generally seem to be the one that the canonical people to be interested in such a thing pay a lot of attention to... the thread might have been better in ROM Hacking.

Why am I getting the feeling this is about to devolve into an utterly pointless argument that will just leave a fair number of people indignated?

Trax, don't pick fights...

Well, I wouldn't consider smwcentral and especially Youtube comments an authority on anything... as far as the other two fansites go, I don't know. Either way, the problems with that kind of rotation mostly were that in the actual SNES age, increasing SRAM size wasn't just a matter of flipping a bunch of switches in the ROM header and accordingly, memory (for pregenerated rotations) was costly; at the same time, I doubt your method would be fast enough to generally be used to generate rotated sprites on the fly.

But then, ROM hacking has shown time and time again that there are things that the 9-to-5 programmers at companies simply did not realize were possible.

USB - Satan's Data Connection

Via Slashdot.

I wonder just what the world must look like through the eyes of a fundamentalist... it must be a single hellish obstacle course of temptation and satanic symbolism.

Everyone I know pronounces SCSI as something along the lines of "scahzee".

Spoiler:
Also, now that you say that, it makes sense. All the hits I can find about it are references to the Slashdot story...

I pronounce it as A-C-M-L-M.

Back in the days when the vidya company wasn't defunct yet, there apparently were quite a number of people who pronounced it "Acclaim".

Also, spelling things out letter-by-letter generally turns out to be unwieldy when you have to mention something over and over again.

It works fine in Mono, but the main window is too small and half of the UI on the right hand side spills over the border without there being a possibility of scaling the window to resolve the issue.

unraring it works fine for me, RAR is superior to ZIP in most respects, and I can confirm the editor works both in Wine and Mono, although the UI layout problem with the latter still is there and it is slightly laggy in the former.

Nevertheless, nice work.

So wait, the point of this rant simply is that you are smart and always to be considered in the right even if evidence to the contrary is presented?

Why would you need Wine, rather than just Mono?

Precisely because the UI was broken in Mono...

On the bright side, meth is apparently pretty harmless to everyone except you!

That's, of course, not considering the massive costs inflicted on the public by sickly physical and mental wrecks who are incapable of doing useful work, sustaining themselves.

Also, I vaguely recall reading that meth causes a heightened sex drive. Assuming that is true, I would be surprised if there isn't some kind of positive correlation with rape...

That still does not mean citations are not better than "the proof is in my mind, bow before me".

mysql> delete from log where t<(unix_timestamp()-3600*24*14);
Query OK, 2297746 rows affected (8 min 48.81 sec)

Just as a heads-up. This is from yesterday's log pruning.

It got modified to only show up when nonempty. There were really no points requiring urgent attention. Just having it up there displaying old stuff all the time only would detract from the attention it draws when there actually is something to draw attention to.

Speaking of Christmas gear, wouldn't it be an extremely economical choice - if you are thus inclined anyway - to just found your own sect of Christianity that celebrates Christmas on the 27th and 28th so that you can profit from the extreme rebate when everybody starts turning their unwanted presents back in and nobody wants the leftover decorations and cakes anymore?

I mean, it's not like there is any historical significance to the date beyond people having chosen it for proximity to Winter solstice/some heathen celebration that needed to be hijacked/whatever anyway.

Link courtesy of MaXim, this seems to be a Linux music player that is, unlike most (all?) others, on the right path (read: it aims for roughly where foobar2000 is on Windows).

It's not quite there yet, but it's already quite decent both in terms of usability and supported formats.

I hacked up two potentially useful plugins on a whim.
