Well, time marches on. We'll never get that 1995-2005 phase when the internet still was young and free and we rode into the sunset on our Geocities-hosted steeds together back either.

Rather than dwelling on the past and how its restoration could be brought forth, though, it would make more sense to actually sit down and think of a sensible plan for future that ideally does not rely on a set of people undoing the character development they underwent during the past 5 years. While I don't reckon the board is going to die anytime soon - even if we are no good at calling forth growth, I think the present administration at least has a degree of blockheadedness that will make us pull through somehow for years to come if all else fails - good ideas for that would be of much utility.

Either way, I'm glad I was remembered

I would say crack would be more dangerous because it creates a want in people, who will make them do literally ANYTHING to get it.
Have you never seen an actual alcoholic, then?

If you factor out the difference in availability of either drug in our culture, you at the very least won't notice much of a difference.

Relatedly, I remember reading a feuilleton article where the author contended that just as smoking is in the process of getting marginalized at a pace and to a degree that nobody would have thought possible fifty years ago, the time will come soon enough when alcohol, too, will successfully be wiped from society regardless of any tradition that might be associated with it. While he made a compelling point about recent developments paralleling the beginning of the downfall of smoking (the alcohol industry being gradually pushed into the defensive with all the "drink responsibly" disclaimers just like cool rugged cowboys had to make way for "smoking can lead to erectile dysfunction"), I still was not convinced to a degree that I would repeat his prophecy affirmatively. What do you think?

Well yes, but a horizontal monopoly precisely is "there is only one company dominating the automotive market", i.e. not having any horizontal competition.

I am not aware of any specific terms for being present in very many only marginally related to each other markets.

PAL after deinterlacing?

Also, I reckon that quite many mobile systems nowadays would use speedstepping and other performance-lowering techniques to save battery power.

I guess Google has a long way before trying to take the automotive industry head on. What they are doing now is nothing more than excentric toys...

And that's different from Porsche etc. how?

The distance between the first and the second group of rocks in the background is 85 pixels. The distance between the second and third is 86 pixels.

I am skeptical.

But... exactly what would one have to gain out of that? Why go such lengths? I mean, the days when one would receive adoration and e-status for something as trivial as a graphics hack are long over... or at least I thought so.

I notice that LM screenshot is conspicuously lacking the right arrow from the other one.

Regardless of that, seeing how it's still just a graphics mod, I don't see a reason to get so worked up about this. Perhaps he does provide a video or some less suspicious screenshots at some point; if not, I think very little harm is done.

What we have seen so far is not exactly impressive or interesting anyway. Graphics edits have existed since roughly the dawn of internet time, those graphics aren't even really custom and I don't see anything implying particularly good or interesting level design.

Either way, though, without having to go via video, there is a much simpler way to provide evidence for the authenticity of this. Surely, you will be using at least one of Snes9x, ZSNES or bsnes. Each of those, to my knowledge, has support for a bunch of scaling filters that are, due to their almost exclusive utility for pixel-art graphics, hardly or not at all used in other contexts than emulation. Can you change the image scaling filter to SuperEagle (Snes9x), 2xSal or perhaps HQ3x, whichever of those is supported in your emulator, and then take and post a screenshot of the result?

Sorry, but out of plain curiosity, what admin was it you talked to?

In order for something like a "forgot password" button to work, you still would have needed to provide an email address for your old account - which you didn't. Because of that, I presently have no means of establishing that you are, in fact, the same person and not just a random passerby, old acquaintance of that person demanding access to his account or whatever else; while your geographical area of origin appears to be [roughly] the same, the providers are different. If you have some means of providing evidence supporting your contention that you are, in fact, c0nfu53d, I can do the password reset for you.

Looks nice.

Is this straight winapi, straight .NET or one of those ".NET with p/invoke" things that are rather nasty to get to run under Linux?

@Maxwell: I thought you were banned from SMWC, for reregging.
Well, this is not SMWC. How is it relevant?

Also, I provided you a way you can prove the authenticity of your hack easily without having to take a video. Surely, it should be simple enough to do what I described and clear your name.

Ah, yeah, the white pixels are compelling.

Emulators would render 0x7FFF white (i.e. full SNES white) as 248,248,248 (padding with 0s).

Those pixels are 255,255,255.

Another colour appearing (in one of the goonies) is 222,239,247, and yet another has a 248 in there. That's decidedly a bit too DEEP for 15-bit colour~

This is not an ingame screenshot.

Are you sure? His user name was listed in the board copyright message displayed at the bottom of the page (© 2005-2010 Acmlm, Xkeeper, blackhole89 et al.) And his user name was a different colour to a normal user too ie it wasn't pink or blue.

Why didn't you just message this guy, then?

Edit- forgot to say about the "recover password" button, it isn't gonna happen. For one simple reason. This board doesn't force you to have a valid email address set in order to register and/or post. So how do we know where we are supposed to send the recovery email at?

Exactly that.

I told you in the PM, but no email address was actually set in the c0nfu53d account.

For menu-driven ("normal") RPGs, I reckon it was Lufia 2.

I still remember buying the cartridge off the older brother of a friend for 5 DM (~$2.50).

This is a pretty nice idea, but could you make a version of the code that does not depend on the PPU for the rotation? In reality, vblank time is scarce and precious more often than it is not, especially in the case of hacks where a reasonably advanced hacker (like the kind that would use your code) is setting out to perform graphics magic.

Sorry, but pure request threads like this are frowned upon, especially if the question can be answered by quick googling (which it can, as I just verified).

Closed.

Well, we have roughly the ones that you can place using the "format" links above each post field...

Although I've seen that song that turned into a bit of an internet phenomenon, I can't see I have seen the actual game that spawned it before at all. Am I right in the assumption this is essentially some heavily simplified/dumbed down tower defense game?
