The Simpsons joke has been done before and isn't really funny more than one time; accordingly, offtopic posts shall be deleted.

More on topic, quality 萌え〜 shall be dumped.

It can, but not in the general case. If you got a keylogger running with administrator rights, it can do anything on your machine including rootkitting itself out of your sight and past most security software you might have. It -is- possible to detect the presence of those indirectly from within the system, but far from straightforward.

I remember orynider bashing in the SMW hacking forums, Stark as Kyouji "Kagami" Craw and Blisseh and the Little Fighter 2 avatar he used (at least I think it was one), Tomguy's mushroom layout, being trolled with a thread that suggested an SMW MMO (I took it seriously; the original posters didn't and apparently most people realized that), the Russianada fad, knuck and YD doing the BUDZ OF BRAZEEL OMG thing and them being all buddy-buddy with each other (along with knuck's pink username and very similar layout) making me think for quite a while that knuck was female, YD having or at least pretending to have an obsession with Naomi Watts (and several layouts themed on that), Gunbound and the rumours that Acmlm was neglecting the board because of playing it all the time (probably true)... Jesper and the Swede mafia... "the wootest"... hm. This association chain has potential to get very long if continued.

Incidentally, so do I.

Also, I think the situation of the President-elect of All Cosmos wreaking enough havoc to kick off the plot instead is highly plausible.

Anyway, welcome to board2 and enjoy your stay.

Well, they'd also have to give a shit to fill it in.

If you mean something like a system-managed mandatory previous nickname storage, let's cut a long story short and say "no".

We all burned an awful portion of our lives here.

In my case, I actually wouldn't be surprised if it amounted to 1% or at least like 0.5% of total time so far. Thinking of it in that way is kind of scary.

The parts that aren't encrypted are offsite images in people's post layouts.

The SSL thing still encrypts all connections between your computer and the board; the only information that can leak through those insecure parts is the URL of the page called (via the Referer header passed to images etc. linked in by layouts). Besides, when you log in, your plaintext password -is- transmitted to the board.

And either way, encrypted connections are a good thing simply because they add to the amount of encrypted data = line noise going back and forth on the internet, thus spoiling the party of whoever taps wires and collects information and making it easier for those who actually have sensitive data to transmit to hide in the masses. You can't distinguish encrypted sedition from encrypted one-letter swap threads.

Yes. That was the most knifelike object I had, barring a plastic knife I carried around for months and failed to track down in the one moment when it would have been the most useful.

I think both the image in the signature and to the right of the text box are pretty hideous though...

Are you, by any chance, using Internet Explorer 6?

If you are, two solutions are available:
- don't use it (RECOMMENDED with prejudice)
- switch to a theme that doesn't rely on PNG transparency (edit profile, pick e.g. Miner's Lament)

I'm using the Internet Explorer sceme, I think. I don't think I can buy another browser. i looked for the schemes when I went to Edit Profile and looked for Scheme and didnt see the place to edit it.

Sorry, but what century do you live in?

You don't have to "buy" a proper browser. Go and download one.

It simply doesn't get updated when threads are moved.

It's pretty usual for many entries in proxy lists to be dead. For Tor, what did you connect to - Tor's native (SOCKS) interface or Privoxy's HTTP one? The latter wouldn't work. There also is a couple of other possible reasons, one being that whatever method those programs typically use to hook winsock functions doesn't work, either by being blocked by your OS, antivirus software or similar or otherwise - or that the traffic you are trying to redirect isn't TCP traffic to begin with, which would mean that you can't send it through a SOCKS proxy. Either way, more information would be required.

If you have a host you can SSH to, you can see if you can get it to work with its dynamic tunnels (-D); those create a SOCKS proxy. Also, you should check whether you can use any of those SOCKS proxies with your web browser of choice; most of them support SOCKS proxies (which you typically use by entering the SOCKS proxy as one and blanking all other proxy types).
