I think it was pretty much common knowledge even back when I joined the board...

I always thought the absence of a GUI in this tool served as a very neat filtering criterion to get rid of kiddies just wishing to rip off but retain functionality for those who have a genuine interest in retrieving something from a locked hack anyway.

That being said, I remember RLM screwing up on a number of "more complex" hacks quite badly, but never pinpointed it on anything to do with HDMA. I can't see how "using HDMA" alone could cause anything like this, anyway (it's not like usage of HDMA has any influence on how level or overworld data or anything else LM might scramble in locked mode is laid out...); if anything, the most that could happen is incompatibility with a particular HDMA-in-a-can-for-newbies patch out there.

Seriously, can we introduce some kind of Godwin's Law about mentioning Jul?

Also, I think "Adblocking Ikachan is like stealing money from the tip jar." might be, among others, sorts of a reference to how it seems to be commonplace among site administrators to complain about users who block [actual] advertisment on the site in that spirit.

Depends on your definition of "vacation". I am lucky enough to not have anything like a neatly organized family life, so there is no ritualized vacationing and the borderline between work and play is constantly blurred.

I was seven years old and thinking it would be incredibly witty to place a leeth4xx0r-sounding username (or so I thought) in the login fields of idle SPARC workstations at my mother's university. Two or three years later, I was trying to find out more about the Unix shell for a certain project and wound up registering at some board which seemed 1337h4xx0rish to me so I recalled the 1337h4xx0rish username I came up with. Things piled up, and I wound up getting known under that handle/email address long before I achieved internet maturity. Nicknames are quite hard to get rid of when even your real-life friends and a few school teachers call you by them.

Administrator status isn't having all permissions; administrator status is having permission to edit all permissions.

In other words, go edit the ACLs of your C: root folder.

I don't think something like what your current screenshot depicts would be of any help - on the contrary, it would make Try making for anyone but the utmost beginners a much more tedious task as typing and copypasting would be replacing by hunting down entries in dropdowns and jumping back and forth between text entry fields.

You should think over your concept...

To those who didn't know we had parts of it in for ages, the search function now also is accessible as a link in the board header. I gave it some finishing touches earlier (i.e. implemented all the filtering, fixed a handful of issues about data display).

Search queries function much like old-school search engines: words can be coupled with AND/OR and grouped into literal strings with doublequotes ("").

The bulk of the code was written by Boom.dk back in ancient times past.

I hope some of you can put it into good use.

Wrong.

A GUI has always made scripting systems easier to use.

Just the fact that you can see all commands withing tabs will provede some clarity. Also, he can just insert the info about the current command upon it's selection somewhere in the window.

It's much, much easier to understand than actually try file editing.

Have you ever seriously tried writing programs or scripts?

I mean, I would understand why you see it like that if you are somebody who never programmed before (and thus probably feels overwhelmed by the number and different semantics of commands at first sight), but if that's not the case, I really don't see how you could see clicking of small buttons with command names and argument fields on them one after the other to generate the same code in a grayed out textbox as a better or even just viable alternative to writing the code directly. There is a good reason no programming environment out there (except, perhaps, for the hideous, hideous, hideous scripting engine in the older versions of RPG Maker) does that.

On that matter, RPG Maker (take 2k3 or something) is a great example to understand why this approach sucks. You'll spend 90% of your time "scripting" just trying to hunt down a command the name and semantics of which you would long have remembered in three tabs worth of button arrays.

Also, especially using the manual on mon's site, Try scripting is pathetically easy. What would be useful aren't plugs around having to learn the script language; what would be useful is an actual linear WYSIWYG editor to be able to design a try more or less the way it would appear in the game.

Well, I haven't tried JASS, but if it's based on C++, it's certainly a whole different level of language than this.

Try scripting is pretty much a two-digit number of extensively documented, tokenized, straightforward commands without even a proper notion of control blocks. There is no way you can make it simpler by replacing writing with a set of buttons to clicks. Have you actually tried it out yourself?

I don't think restriction of emissions, especially to the minuscule degree it's being done in the Western world, can do that. The problem is that with the average temperatures going up by 2°C and a standard deviation of like five times that, you won't really be able to observe it without keeping very detailed temperature histories and can't expect not to still occasionally freeze your arse off.

On that matter - ~-3°C, snow, clouded skies.

At the moment, it eats most special chars.

I might try to think of a good escaping scheme later.

Idling is one of the core concepts of IRC. Joining a channel signifies your theoretical/potential interest in something that might be discussed in the channel; then, any number of people who are actually interested in something may discuss it and if you see that it's a topic that also interests you, you can read up on what happened up to that point and join in.

It's like the perfectioning of the concept of a forum (in the classical sense).
