Back on topic from this talk, which is actually pretty interesting (sorry to interrupt previous discussion), but I feel like RHDN could have just used a PayPal or other type of donation system rather than a Patreon page - it'd definitely be safer than publicising donations on a third-party system...

this guy's an idiot really if he thinks he'll take romhacking.net off the face of the earth

technically there is "nothing" wrong. sure the money thing is probably not very good, not going to argue that ... i seriously miss the "bonsai" theme i always used. ...everything "except" the forums no longer loads properly in Internet Explorer anymore because of this stupid default theme.

it was perfectly 100% fine with "bonsai" ...

anyway there not doing anything wrong, IPS patches are NOT illegal... roms in "public forums" are what's wrong... but not ips patches... so that guy isnt going to get anywhere...

Don't use Internet Explorer. It's known to have many problems to developers of websites due to its old standards.

And yeah, IPS patches aren't illegal, it's the distribution of ROMs that is illegal. However, Nintendo may see IPS patches as encouraging people to go on ROM sites, as many people won't use their own dumps and will run hacks in emulators, so uh... :/

If you don't have the time to make it more complete as you said, you could consider releasing the source code so people could take a look at it.

That said, great work creating a simple homebrew. It's quite a sweet story how you came up with the idea, too.

Hey,

Are there any ROM hacking references I could use (other than searching) that will help me with things in general - particularly where the NES is concerned, since it seems most of you are into the NES scene? Also, any tips as longtime ROM hackers that you can give to a newbie?

Thanks!

What's currently been fixed/added in the 4.0 version? Also, where are the compilation instructions to be found, you seemingly haven't put them in the readme from what I can tell. You might want to add that

All tools, source code and access still be free for users and romhackers.

Indeed. Sharing knowledge for free is a great gift for the community. Keeping it away from free users is just wrong.
