master higgins, if that ever gets released, I'll have to look into putting the hero into some city rather than prehistoric islands ^^

(that is an Adventure Island game, right ._.;

Looks good Googie, as always ;]

I was looking into that game a few days ago, actually, and was trying to make some Yoshi Island graphics and levels. But none of the NES Marios really had the right kinda tiles for me to make proper levels I was first trying to make some sub-cavern/ice level but I couldn't get all that far.

I never did like this one, but then again, I don't think I ever bothered to even enter the first dungeon. I had tried it months ago when it first came out in Japan, and it just felt so "icky." I think is was, sorry guys, the horrible graphics. I mean, they're not necessarily bad, but people keep thinking they're as good as Wind Waker's. Link looks nothing like he does in Wind Waker, save his ovalness and color pallete :[

Okay I have found the code that allows me to change every attribute of each character (inc. speed, jump height, frames-of-animation-per-move, location of collision blocks, etc)

So basically this means that Simon Belmont will have his whip, and this will not only be a graphics hack, but each character will play almost exactly like their original game. Oh joyous day.

Okay, now this is sounding really awesome. Can't wait for some new information ^^

Ristar, in that bottom-right shot, is that the Yoshi's Island Yoshi :?

That's my point--everyone else keeps thinking it does, and that kinda drives down the feeling of the game itself. Stupid fanboys.

I decided to give this game a try again now that it's in english, and it's coming out better than it did before. The game is still a bit bland, but at the same time good. The sialing bit is MUCH better than what Wind Waker offered, but it also feels limited as far as I've gotten, the Isle of Gales.

I really haven't a clue what else, besides the theme, graphic style, and a couple of characters, lends to this being a sequel to Wind Waker >.>

It's the reasoning that you're distributing an illegal file that is why you must send patches instead. You can have people download the ROM instead of a patch, but you would most likely have your hack removed, be banned, and/or be ridiculed. If you want to email someone the ROM then go right on ahead, but within the public internet, most frown upon handing out the game, whether it is modified or not.

Man, I really wish I had the time to play with this thing right now. Hopefully I can squeeze off some time this Sunday, and have a look at putting cavemen into cities ^^

- Roy and Marth ? (Fire Emblem)

-Kirby and Pac Man

Unlike Peach and Daisy, these two-somes are nothing alike. For one, Kirby is an actual form, while Pac-Man is a circle with a triangle part of the time. They wouldn't work. And then for Fire Emblems, Roy looks NOTHING like Marth does in the series. Hell, Marth doesn't even have pants! here's hoping the DS remake doesn't give him pants

Marth is bigger than 16x16. He's about the size of the other characters so far.

Roy is in an entirely different style. You could try Alm from Fire Emblem: Gaiden, but he only resembles Marth in general body-build.

Yep. I had started this months ago and then sorta lost interest. Now, with the DS remake on its way, I got back into it. Only this time I'm not going to bother translating it: only a graphical remix ^^

I definitely do not want all the characters in the same style, it defeats the purpose of this hack. The idea is to have all the players play and control like their original game, and then pit them against each other in a single game. If you want to play a game where all the characters are changed and given different styles than their original, then play Smash Bros. I think the blend of characters looks fine, thank you for your input though.

Especially for the die-hard retro players like myself. Authentic retro fight

Eh, I find fanboys to be more of the AIM grammar, who can never really strike an argument. All they are are bags of flesh wanting to act like their ideals are better.

Elitists are more the assholes I'd rather not exist: fanboys aimlessly try to win fights,l without much evidence. Elitists seem more to actively search out evidence and arguments to win a petty statement; much more likely to flame others in attempts to sustain their ego and viewpoints (much like fanboys, do they ten dot generally feel insecure when their opinion is talked against); and they always tend to generally downtrod a game with another--in any game topic, it seems they'll try to bring in their favorite and make it better than the one being discussed, especially when their game is being compared to, heaven forbid in a lesser state!, isn't the one receiving all the good points.

You can your idiots and then you have your assholes ^^

Well, that's part of the charm--and appreciation--of having the original sprites in there. It's as if the games actually merged.

Scroll down to the Coding and Hacking Section.

This place started all the info for the game. The place just moved, so there's also data across the past board or two incarnations.

EDIT: Oh hey, I linked to the same place as I did in the link given here :o

Squashmonster made an editor for Seima (FE8), which uses virtually the same format as all the GBA Fire Emblems (possibly even the fifth one on the SNES). Iggy documented the data, so I assume he has it as well.

I think the reason the gear looks bad is because that's the original game's gear. The early Castlevania games weren't ones for sometimes even standable graphics, unfortunately

This might sound like a weird question, but are you also going to allow use to provide our own palette for the editor to utilize, or are you going to just have an NES.pal lying around or something? I use YY-CHR's for my hacking, and my emulator, and so any edits I do graphically will have different colors in your editor.

No big deal if it doesn't--I like hearing this news in any case ^^
