One of the ice blocks hold something you'll need. It's not hard to find, just overlooked. |

Maybe he'll go blind if stomped on: there's your next sprite, an eyeless squished koopa ~_~ |

Posted by Treeki Palletes are universal between games on the NES, so there's nothing that really needs explaining, other than someone giving you the address :/ |

Well, the NES emulator FCEUXD displays the four palletes used for backdrops and sprites, so all you really need to do is hover over a chunk and see what the bytes are for the four colors and search for 'em in your hex editor of choice. There's really nothing to it ^^ |

Then find an image of the NES color table, and compare and contrast the colors. Almost all beginner hacking docs seem to have this in it, some find one.
I personally don't know of any real programs that'll help you if you're not on Windows. If that's your problem. You're going to have to match the colors on screen with those of the NES, and not all emulators use the same pallete, so you may have some trouble coming your way. |

Did you check www.romhacking.net? I know there's at least one LZ77 decompressor there that isn't graphics-dependent. |

I don't see you saying that anywhere >.>
Show better progress than five minutes of "hack." When you do that, then you will be working. |

STREET 1 is fairly complete. I want to go over the properties' "headers" and I need to fix a fish, but it's relatively finished. Now working on a Super Mario Bros,/Yoshi Island street~ |

And to be quite honest, I'd rather not see good work be ran into the ground. Don't use another's work as a base--start completely fresh. |

If you maps look barely different from the original after four months of work, then you're a very slow worker >.> |

www.romhacking.net
Utilities. Search. I use YY-CHR, but the other two mainstream ones are TileLayerPro and TileMolester. |

You have no clue how much I can relate to that I also keep most of my work to myself 'til I think it's both within reasonable quality and isn't too "spoilery" for revealing a project. Of course, I never finish my hacks completely either... |

You too Dr. Mario: I've always loved your work too. That city landscape looks highly original yet also reminds me of my old Donkey Kong '98 cart ^^
