I have to disagree. The new one matches the aesthetics of the original US logo much better in both form and palette. Plus the nostalgia for MMX would be pretty misplaced in a game that has nothing to do with the MMX era. |

Why not just use MM4 as a base instead? Then at least you can take advantage of CSA while you wait for help or learn ASM yourself. |

The red piranhas in SMB2j don't hide in their pipes when the player is near. So they are much more dangerous. |

I believe it's a MM3 hack meant to recreate GnG Arcade more closely than the official NES GnG.
And I believe he is asking for help with ASM work on making the sprites behave like the GnG ones. This is something that would take a lot of work, BTW. It's doable, but it's no small task even if you could use CSA. |

Not to mention having plenty of space for a proper menu and map as well as the already existing hacks that make the game so much more awesome.
The first thing that came to mind when I saw this was overhauling the level structure so that people no longer have to use repeated room blocks. |

Speaking of Wily Tower, how about an expanded version of it based on a MM3 ROM?
8 new robot masters that are invading different locations from the past and Megaman has to stop them before a timer runs out. That would give the game a new game play element that is never really used in this series. Then the 4 revisit stages can be made into the Wily Tower Journey to the West levels + 1 new stage for a new robot master based on the Ox/Bull Demon King. Then of course the Wily Castle stages would be used for the remainder of Wily Tower. |

Unfortunately that is not any more doable than putting all the games on one ROM.
You would save some space bu not including some of the content from each game, but you'd still be using a bulk of the data. Plus any space you save by doing this would be consumed by having to greatly expand weapon damage tables and other such things. These sorts of ideas are just not viable for the NES. The easiest way to do something like this is definitely as a fan game for PC. |

Anything is possible, the question is how easy it would be?
And this idea could be done but would definitely take a ton of ASM work. You'd basically have to recreate the physics of each game's protagonist. Anyway, it would be a lot of work. At the very least I'd like to see a smaller scale proof of concept at least. |

Not too long ago someone posted at SMWCentral in the ASM showoff thread (IIRC) a proof of concept where they were did a Sonic Debug mode-like thing and joked that they got Mario Maker before anyone else.
Anyway, point being, someone has already done some work on what could become a Mario Maker type of thing. I hope it get's somewhere, because that would be rad, though I don't really think it would be nearly as smooth as the real Mario Maker. |

For kids and adults that aren't into ROM hacking or even know about it. |

The roots look fine to me. But over all it still feels like it doesn't quite match the style of the other boss sprites in the game. Someone mentioned the anti-aliasing in the outline and I think that switching to solid outlines would help, as well as turning up the contrast a little. Light outlines are rarely used on SoM IIRC. |

You know if a little asm was added, the flags that are used to prevent the player from re-entering a stage could probably be used to prevent the RMs from appearing by jumping directly to the stage end code as soon as Megaman enters the boss room.
Hijacking whatever code it is that makes the robot master appear could be a good place to hook the game logic. |

I seem to recall seeing a hack for Zelda 1 recently that allows you to at least have different graphics in each dungeon. Maybe it could be useful? |

ROMhacking itself is downright illegal but we do it anyway.
I've always been a pragmatist about all this stuff. ROMhacking is technically illegal in any sense, as is creating repro carts. We ROMhack for fun. But creating a repro is not the same and I can see someone charging for their time and labor in making one. That said, the ROMhack itself should always be made available since that part of it should not be sold under any circumstances and price variance should only come from the difficulty or ease of creating the physical cart. People whining about the creation of repros is stupid, it's not your problem. If you don't agree with it don't support it. Let others do as they will as long as it doesn't affect you. That said, I have seen pacnsacdave "release" lots of hacks, but sometimes not bother to make an IPS for any of them right away. I find this somewhat bothersome. It doesn't take but a few minutes to create a patch and post it. However, I honestly never found many of his hacks particularly interesting or desirable, so it's no skin off my back. But in his defense he has contributed quite a bit to ROMhacking. Not just by releasing hacks, but also a number of translations as well. |
