Been playing this.
It's amazing.
Everyone should get it.
Now.
Intro for the game is kickass, there's like, 30 different victory voices, 30 different getting hurt voices, tons of different sound effects, the audio in this game was well hard worked on. The graphics are stellar with minor frame rate drops when all of the audience is shown (Pretty much all 3D).

Great great great game. I can't wait to get online with it, let me beat a few cups first.

No no, the new model is the same price as the old one.
And yes, they took out the chip that does backwards compatibility because obviously they are trying to save/earn money in every way possible. It's funny, I watched a video on Joystiq today where the head of SCEA said that PS3 was dominant and that they are running the PS2 and PS3 both for coming years so that they have a double market. Every time he was asked about the Wii or the real reasons why the system is doing terrible, he simply said some utter bullshit about their "10 year strategy" that is completely irrelevant to the question. He did that THREE times. Sony fucking sucks.

Wii/DS print money.
PS3 eats money.
360 is in the middle.

9 developers have said it so far, including SEGA, makers of Unreal Engine, Capcom, and several others. The PS3 is extremely picky and hard to make games for. Even then, it's been proven that the 360 can hold it's own better then the PS3. New football game that's coming out? It will run at 30FPS on PS3 and 60FPS on 360 because they cannot get the game to run as fast as the 360. The PS3 sucks. They tried to fool everyone by silently pulling out their 7 core processor and putting in 7 small memory cores for the processor to utilize. It is no more powerful then the 360, and the games/lack of games suck.
