From what I've seen, compilers will often turn switch statements into jump tables (assuming the case values are close together) and if/else chains into just a bunch of conditional branches.

Bio, yes, the NES uses a 2A03 which is, as I understand, a 6502 with some sound stuff built in.

Do you have any idea what you're talking about? SMB3 hacking has almost nothing to do with Pokémon hacking. The bugs in an SMB3 editor are of no concern to a Pokémon hacker.

Free-roaming overworld is win. I might have to do that myself.

I'm pretty sure the freezing is by design; other games will freeze or power off too. However, it sounds like your card slot may have a bad connection. It might be fixable by just cleaning it and/or the cards.

So get one of those open-source editors shipped on a CD.

DS is actually capable of hotswapping cards, but official software doesn't do it. Inserting or removing them (or GBA carts) will freeze the firmware and any games that use them.

Wait so knuck and Trapster are officially unbanned? This isn't just a glitch, like how certain people's names are showing up pink on some pages and blue on others?

It's not the code's fault people keep accidentally typing = instead of ==.

You might want to look up what a header actually does.

In most cases, when a editor/emulator barf about header errors, you can usually fix them easily yourself.
Though if, after editing, your ROM header is suddenly corrupt, odds are other parts of the ROM are corrupt too. Unless it's just complaining about a checksum error.

Is it an ASM hack, BTW, or do you just plop a lot of Mario paths all over the place?

SCREENSHOT COMMENT MODE ACTIVATED

  1. The rain looks ugly, and the original SMW ground clashes. The rest looks nice.
  2. Pretty good stuff here. The stars in the top right seem to run together at the bottom though.
  3. The background seems to be missing something. The FG is good, but the trees look odd and the sand has an odd pattern that doesn't line up well with the pipe or fence.
  4. Not bad, but what are those shadow-like spots on the ground and green/yellow things in the air?
  5. Sand problem again. Look at the blocks and pipe sitting on top of it. BG might do well with some detail in that empty space.
  6. Looks very nice, though the top row of lava tiles seems out of place, and the BG could again use a bit more detail.
  7. Very nice.
  8. "Where" might be better as "while". Graphics look good (except the lava again); I like the yellow blocks in particular.
  9. This font is gross, the background totally lacks depth, and the rounded pipe looks weird.
  10. The coins could use some palette tweaking, and the platforms have a grey shadow that just cuts off halfway down the post.
  11. The saw is a bit strange-looking. I like the expression on Thwimp's face.
  12. This font is also gross, and the black outlines have yellow spots in them that should be transparent. The place looks nice, though. I like the gold colour and the question mark.
  13. The red floor looks strange, and the blocks and windows could be better shaded so as to look less like a flat grid. Some sky in the window would help too. The background is great, and kudos for using classic Piranha Plants.
  14. Neat!
  15. I'm diggin' that background, though the dark area once again could use more detail. The leftmost slope looks strange.
  16. Same stuf here. Notice again the bottom of the torch and pipes against the sand.
  17. Great work on the foreground, but the vertical part is missing an outline.

Looking good, but needs a lot of minor improvements.

Piracy? What? No, it's simply a way to improve the experience of games you own! *cough*

Seriously, playing your games from the hard drive has some advantages that are especially important on PS2:
  • Saves wear and tear on the disc drive. HDDs should last longer (especially compared to PS2 disc drives ) and are easily replaceable.
  • Games load faster.
  • No juggling discs, the games are all built in!

Also, I found a network adapter today. Apparently, there's a program that can pretend to be the AR Max server, allowing you to send your own save files. If I can find that and get it working, I'll be good to go, supposedly.

Sounds like my MK64 "editor", which is still only a viewer. I already know the actual editor is going to be a whole new codebase, because the current code sucks from a combination of its age (it was based on some very old experimental 3D rendering code), it being severely hacked for experimental purposes, and making some assumptions about the game's workings that turned out to be false.

I'm time travelling right now. Now I just need to figure out how to change my speed and/or direction.

If I could get one thing that's a big achievement, it wouldn't be a time machine.

It would be a Virtual Reality Chamber.
Any lifestyle you wish...
Better than using a Time Machine.

Unless you use the Time Machine to go into the future and get a Virtual Reality Chamber...then they're both equally good.
We should collaborate on this project. You build the VR chamber, and I'll watch.
