You know what, there probably wasn't anyone available to help. At least here, hospitals are severely understaffed, and I hear this is true of many places. They may all have been responding to other emergencies.

However, it doesn't excuse why the civilians, police, and security guards didn't even try to help. Nor this:

Last week, federal inspectors declared that patients at King-Harbor were in "immediate jeopardy" of harm or death and gave the hospital 23 days to correct procedures or lose certification. It was the fourth time in less than four years that the hospital had received the warning.
Warnings are useless if they're all you give.

One thing you can do is block some of the more commonly visited websites in the hosts file. If they ask, tell them they probably picked up a virus off some shady website. I used a similar trick at school: it was impossible to actually use the computers in one class (in which a lot of assignments involved researching things online), because people would spend all day on them pretending to work while really just using MSN. So I wrote a program that would automatically close any MSN window that opened and put it on one. Voila, there was always a computer free for those who actually needed it.

Then, uh, just make a sig, not a whole layout.
Posted by Xkeeper
I kind of like the idea of basic signature support, but approval for layouts.

Mostly because one leaves the post alone, but the other can really fuck a post over and make it annoying to read.
That's what I was thinking. Grant headers only to those who obviously aren't morons.

I'll probably not get an answer here, but I'll ask anyway: Similarly to getting Spiny's graphics to flip vertically, I'd like the game to flip Tweeter's graphics horizontally. I have a free-running Chomp which chases Mario which is a modified Tweeter, and I'd like it to use the same graphics as Chain Chomp. Problem is, Chain Chomp's graphics are stored backwards, so if I'm trying to use them both in the same stage, the free-running Chomp is always facing backwards. The only thing I see in Tweeter's code that resembles tile properties is this:

LDA $15f6,x ; tile properties xyppccct, format
LDX $02 ; \ if direction == 0...
BNE NO_FLIP ; |

Anything I could change there to get the game to flip Tweeter horizontally? I'll release my free-running Chomp if I can get this working.
Maybe change that BNE to BEQ.

IIRC, SMB3's chomps would break free after 50 lunges. A bit long to wait, but probably not hard to implement.

Can anyone please post the *new* Spritetool (Japanese sprites included one) in a .zip file? I've tried to download WinRar, but it won't let me for some reason
Get 7Zip, it's better.

BTW, in case anyone was wondering: BNE = Branch if Not Equal, BEQ = Branch if EQual. Simple eh?

Tch, I see what happened. Firefox went "durr let's fill in the remembered password in editprofile.php" and changed it back to an old one.

Similarly, I know of a way to BSOD Windows in any browser, except possibly Opera. I won't post it here though, lest n00bs copy it. Vista might be immune, but probably not.

I don't think SDL is thread-safe. A delay after each frame should do the trick if you use the right value. 13ms should cap it to ~60FPS, assuming it's getting that much to begin with.

Generally, though, you want to keep the frame rate as high as possible and make all logic/timing independent of it. Otherwise everything will run really fast on faster machines, and lag on slower ones, like so (fast, medium, slow):

Whereas with a fixed timestep they'd all move the same speed, but on slower machines you'd see choppiness (which I can't seem to duplicate with marquees).

I'd say that reads fairly well on lower (1024x768 atm) resolutions, HH.
And what would "that" be?

I live in America, and I think it gets stupider and stupider each day. Like they don't really care about the people, just money and power

Another thing was that this little kid called 911 because his mom fainted, but the person on the other end of the call said "Stop joking or I'll tell her what you've been doing." He calls again, and she says "Listen kid, we can't be messing around on the phones with fake calls." And hung up. Then she ended up dying
What, they aren't required to take every call seriously no matter how unbelievable it sounds? Sure hope I'm never attacked by anything supernatural. Or what if someone is being held hostage, and calls 911, only to have the kidnapper grab the phone and start making jokes?

Hey, Dad, just for the record: "I'll be out in a while when I'm done what I'm doing in here" does not mean "Call for me every 5 minutes".

I believe someone has cursed Firefox . Damn them.
I use Firefox, that says enough right there. I'm just not such a drooling fanboy that I can't admit it has bugs. FF is great, not perfect.

Grrrr there's just too many of those darn acronyms >:{
When you're typing thousands of them, it's nice not to have to type "BranchIfNotEqual" every time.
