Since a few days ago the Bluetooth service has begun stopping and restarting randomly. The "device removed" sound plays, the Bluetooth icon disappears from the system tray, then a few seconds later the "device connected" sound plays and the icon reappears, but lit up as if a Bluetooth device were connected, but when I check the list there aren't any. About an hour ago it stopped and restarted again about 8 times, down for literally a second then up for a second, and it's been down since then.

In the Event Viewer I see event 18 generated by BTHUSB once for each occurrence:

Windows cannot store Bluetooth link keys on the local transceiver because it cannot determine whether proper security is enabled for the device.

Google turns up a few people getting that message at bootup and links to an article on Microsoft.com that says just ignore it. That's not what's happening to me though.

Well it's still a long time before I fully recover but I can at least type now, albeit slowly & inaccurately. I doubt I'll be on AIM anytime soon but I can at least visit forums & scratch my nose again.

that fucking sucks.
YES. It's not so bad now that I've healed a bit but at first between the injuries and being doped up on painkillers I couldn't so much as get in/out of a chair/bed without help. It was just today I was able to move them enough to remove my own pants to be able to pee on my own. Still can't wipe. Thank God my dad is here to help. Hell I'd have starved to death otherwise, being unable to prepare food nor even get it to my mouth.

What happened was I got stupid. Let adrenaline get the best of me. Tried to take a turn at ~50km/h, rolled the machine over on top of me. Lucky to be alive. Also lucky I went into shock, so there's a gap in my memory; I remember approaching the turn, then waking up in the hospital. Hence, I don't remember the pain.

Recovery sucks. I spent ~5 days in the hospital (memory's fuzzy from painkillers) which was severely understaffed & in need of new equipment. I never want to so much as hear the word catheter again. Damn thing had some sort of air-lock problem, so every hour or so, I had to get the nurses to come do whatever the hell they did to fix it. They said it usually doesn't hurt coming out but holy fuck. If there's one thing I'm glad of it's not being conscious when it went in. Also, one night they couldn't get an IV into my foot (and obviously couldn't try the arms). My veins were doing something weird, as they described it. So they had to try about 8 times before finally giving up. And let me tell you, a failed IV insertion hurts!

A few nerves are damaged, though the doctor assured me they'll eventually recover. It limits my hands' mobility; the wrists & fingers just won't move past a certain point. The left wrist just flops straight down. I have to wear these very uncomfortable braces to hold them in a good position so I can use my hands, and so the joints don't stiffen up. My elbows already have since the arms were held in a certain position for weeks. I can't fully extend my arms, the tendons have actually shortened. Again, they'll eventually recover or so I hear, but in the meantime it's a massive pain in the ass.

The worst part of it all is the timing. I was scheduled to take a trip to Ontario a few days later to visit my mom and go to Animé North. Before I moved to Alberta a girl I knew from school had, how to say, shown an interest in me. (Nothing perverted. ) She ended up moving to another town shortly afterward which killed any possibility of a relationship but we maintained contact through MSN Messnger. Long story short we had made plans to meet at the con. I should mention too that I'd give damn near anything for us to be together... anyway being unable to type, I had no way to tell her I couldn't make it. (I phoned, but couldn't get through.) I don't know what happened to her but as the hotel room was booked in my name, if she did show up, she'd have no place to spend the night, and since I had the confirmation sheet, she wouldn't even be able to get into the con. I've been signed into MSN for the past few days and she hasn't come online, so I fear the worst. Does she hate me now? Did she even make it home? I'm quite paranoid, you see.

There was one good thing that came of this. My dad bought me an Xbox 360 and a copy of Chromehounds (great game, but hard ) to help exercise my hands. (Hence how I've been signed into MSN. It's the same network.) Gamertag is rekcaHrepyH since of course my usual name was taken by some n00b (and just adding a number is no fun). I suck at the game so far though.

Oh yeah, I also managed to break the right collarbone, which meant for a week or so afterward, moving my right arm = HOLY FUCK THAT HURTS.

Emo emo emo... tl;dr: Xk hit the nail on the head so hard he drove the hammer through the board. Now, onto the other posts.

So did you type this with your nose or something?
Left middle finger. Picture the needle of a turntable. Rotate my chair using my feet, poke. Rotate, poke. (MouseKeys ftw.) Shift was especially difficult.

Worst I've dealt with, as far as my arms go, was fracturing one in a fight. Wasn't a full break, just a somewhat deep crack. Hurt like hell, but I could still play SNES once I got my arm in a sling, so I didn't care.
I found Super Mario RPG a great game to recover with. You can take your time pressing the buttons but jumping and magic require ever-increasing precision, so there's incentive to improve.

Then again, my father's friend Milt ended up dying from an ATV accident a few years ago, so...

Really, I try not to ride them anymore (not that it matters, we don't have any here
Another guy who was out with us (there were a lot of us) crashed into something and broke his neck about an hour later. He survived though, I haven't heard any more about him. I didn't know him, so...

I'd still ride one again, but a hell of a lot more carefully and much slower.

Am I the only one who has to laugh at the sexual frustration he's gonna have? Unless he gets like a hot nurse or something.
Yeah, there's that too. I try to look at the upside. You've heard "absence makes the heart grow fonder"? Same thing applies here. Seriously, go a few days without fapping and see how much better it is.
But I don't know how much longer I can hold out here...

Posted by cpubasic13
That sounds like it fucking hurts. I would not be able to stand it without arms. Only games I could play would be dancing games, but even then with two arms in severe pain it would hurt more than be fun.
Trust me, dancing is out of the question. I could barely walk at first.

Damn, long post, especially for having written it with 2 fingers...

Last time I saw this it was in colour. It's not all that impressive when you consider that VLC can display any video as coloured ASCII art.

Pop seems to be the standard in Canada. I've never heard anyone say soda. I did once by accident and got weird looks.

About the only strange names I have for things are for bathroom-related things, and they're not that strange really. I take a leak or a dump, I sometimes say wang instead of penis, etc...

I do tend to refer to things by many different terms though. In reference to my dad's car I might say the car, your car, the Lincoln, or a few other things chosen at random. I do similar with other things; sometimes I'll refer to my pets by name, others I'll just say "the cat/dog", or referring to an insect, sometimes I'll say "a fly/bee/etc" and others just "a bug".

I call this board "the board" because "Acmlm's Board" takes too long to say and "Milly's" just doesn't sound right. Also I occasionally say "skeeter" instead of "mosquito".

When I was an insane child I appended "bob" to nearly every noun.

Living here's not too bad except for the people. My stepbrother is so obnoxious. He'll wander all around the house any time at all wearing nothing but boxers and BO. Nevermind that we have a rule that you must wear either pants+shirt or a housecoat when outside your own room. Rules don't apply to him. He's perfectly allowed to turn the volume on his TV waaaaaaaaaay up so we can all hear it, put in a DVD, and leave it looping at the main menu while he goes out to smoke weed all day/night. (Then he wonders why his DVD players wear out so fast...) Me? Anything I do is wrong, as decreed by my stepmom. My dad sticks up for me when he's there but as a truck driver he tends to be gone for days at a time. All 5 of her kids (ahem, vagina != clown car) as well as me agree she gets way too strict at random, and have told her this directly, to no avail. Think PMS, but all month.

Internets are nice that way. You can be whoever you want and nobody need know your real identity.

Anyway, Culex's theme (and yes I know it's from Final Fantasy and all that kthx) from Super Mario RPG for 16 hours, then it just stopped playing. Still going, but not making any sound.

Someday I should let the Booster Hill theme loop forever and see what happens. Since it keeps getting higher in pitch each loop, I figure it might blow up eventually.

Notice how he said the database is set for 255.

I had Proxomitron set to remove max length attributes, so I hadn't noticed any 100-character limit. Someone asked how I had >100 and I wondered WTF they were on.

That's it? Pff. Pokémon G/S's graphics have 7 different compression formats too. Lunar Compress might even already support this format.

Story Mode, Sniper RT, mission 2. The guy tells me to "follow the road North to point F4". There's no road but I head to F4 anyway and kill the enemies. I have to kill them all before the flare goes up or he'll give up within seconds (but there's a big delay before it does so), as if a timer is off somewhere. Next he says head North some more. Some enemies approach from the East, even though I just killed everything over there, they seemingly appear from nowhere. As I'm shooting them the guy complains he's getting shot at, then literally 2 seconds later, gives up (= game over).

I don't see either of my allies, nor any other enemies, anywhere at all. Where is this guy and how can he be getting shot at when I'm attacking the only enemies around and he's nowhere near me? What's missing here? >:

Man, the characters in this game fail at giving directions.

The bonuses weren't really based on score. Just if this digit of the score and this digit of the timer and this digit of your weight matched you'd get stuff.

And HH, you thoguht of that number, so it's not really random!
How does that make it not random?

BTW, expensive machines can generate true random numbers, by reading radio waves or something like watching radioactive material decompose.
