I've had two bedrooms that were always much hotter than the rest of the house. I kinda grew used to it. This makes moving to Northern Alberta, home of 8-month winters, much more painful. |

Yeah, after a while of playing on that level, people just start dying. I figure the game just kills them when their damage gets too high, or it gets high enough that they move so fast on a good hit that they break hit detection and fly right through walls. The damage counter on the screen only says 999, but I'm pretty sure it keeps going internally. |

My 250GB disk was almost completely full, but I had an unused partition. So, did some adjusting... 9.3 of 14.5GB free on the system partition now. Still only 1.64 of 217GB free on my main partition though, and that's after moving 2GB of *ahem* movies to my laptop which is also nearly full. An older hard disk that I don't really trust due to its age has 17.3 of 18.6GB free.
At some point I need to get a bigass removeable disk, copy all my important stuff to it encrypted, and store it in a safe deposit box at the bank. But I'm also saving for a whole new computer. |

2173. HMs in Pokémon, period.
2174. Having an awesome song stuck in your head, when it's one of those ridiculously fast-paced ones and it keeps you awake. 2175. This fucking cat who just does not learn and keeps scratching at my window no matter how many times I yell at him for it. 2176. Chuck Norris. These jokes weren't even funny when they were invented soooooooo long ago. |

I got a Belkin Wireless G USB Network Adapter hoping to use it as a soft AP. I know this is possible, as it uses the RT2500 chipset, and Nintendo's adapter for the DS uses this as well and is capable of the same via hacked drivers. However, Windows doesn't seem to have any such feature and insists on using it to connect to the Internet. Trying to enable Internet Connection Sharing either does nothing or shows an error:
It doesn't want to tell me which address this is but before this it was complaining that 192.168.0.1 needs to be available, so I made sure of that. Google is giving me all manner of reviews on the Nintendo wifi adapter and places to buy wifi adapters. Nothing of any use. So has anyone done this? I tried the Network Setup Wizard too, it just says it failed. (BTW, the install CD that came with the adapter didn't even have the right driver for it so I had to get them off the website instead.) |

I bought the adapter thinking it could be used as an AP. A router is going to cost more than $50, I'm sure. |

2186. Windows not supporting soft AP or having drivers for anything (even on Windows Update). |

Posted by XkeeperIt's more a case of buying something then wondering why you have to hack it to bits to do something it should be perfectly capable of doing. (The box even says "you can share your high-speed Internet connection.") Even if I did find a router/dedicated AP in the same price range, it won't be as convenient. Why pay the same price for something less convenient? There's no reason this shouldn't work. [EDIT] I found a program on Belkin's web site that seems to be able to do this. I set it to "Peer to peer mode" and entered a network name, and now DS2Key on my DS sees a wireless network by that name with a signal strength anywhere between 30 and 77%. However, actual DS games don't see it at all. It's not encrypted, it's broadcasting an SSID, and it's at 2mbps. The error codes it shows are either unable to find the AP or "related to WEP key issues" (which basically means "we have no idea what the problem is so we'll blame WEP", as I get this error with a few APs that don't use encryption ). My laptop doesn't see it either, but it only sees the 3 closest of the 11 listed on the DS. |

I remember hearing some comedian comment on a weight loss drug whose side effects included "anal leakage" or something like that. This is supposed to be healthy? |

It could be interesting to play a level designed specifically to demonstrate bugs in the game, but when hacks just randomly add things that depend on bugs, it's different. |

Posted by XkeeperYeah, the public transportation here is lame. Cabs are expensive, and buses run on a stingy schedule: every half hour between some stupid time like 10 and 4, and every hour from 8-10 and 4-7, and even less on weekends. And they're often late, sometimes they don't even show up. It makes them useless, I can't take the bus to work if it can't get me there on time reliably. |

Posted by The KinsAnd make puzzles where you have to hear something to complete them. (Banjo-Kazooie did this, but BK had awesome music. ) I've been pondering a hack where the goal is not to get to the end of the level, but to collect things within the levels. Think Banjo-Kazooie; the levels have no end or time limit, you just return to a nearby warp pad to exit. You're just there to collect some items; maybe x coins and y As for tracking which items you've collected, again, do it BK's way: don't track the individual coins. They'll be there every time you enter the level. Just track the most coins the player has collected in each level, and add these for the overall total. If you collect more this time than you did last time you played that level, that becomes your new record for the level, otherwise nothing happens. Once your total reaches certain amounts it could trigger overworld events. This would work nicely with the "use a level for the overworld" idea as custom blocks/sprites would give more flexibility than overworld events. Perhaps you spend these coins to open doors to progress further, and you can choose which door to open next; you may not even need them all to win. You could combine this too with The Kins' idea, and allow the player to buy upgrades (unlocking items, boosting attributes, etc). However you'd have to be careful to avoid the potential situation that the player spends all of their coins on upgrades, and then can't collect enough in the areas they have access to to open any doors. |
