1728. Programs that create shortcuts and/or reboot without asking (or don't have a "DON'T DO THAT >8^(" option).
1729. In Windows XP, the Folder Options window opening under other windows. 1730. Extremely bloated drivers. A printer driver needs 400MB of support programs? Riiiiiight. 1731. Sound drivers. They NEVER work right! 1732. When people complain that I'm not allowed to do something even though they know I've been doing it for ages and never had a problem with it before. 1733. When people assume bad faith. |

My old HP had a 100-watt PSU. Seriously.
As for Vista, I'll give them a year or two to fix the bugs, wait for people to hack out the DRM, and then probably end up installing it even though I don't want to because XP will be out of date and there'll be yet another reason I can't get Linux to work. |

I noticed Azureus 3.0.1.0 is out, but all the downloads seem to be down. More significantly, I noticed they have some new program called Vuze. Apparently it's some sort of BitTorrent-based high-def movie distribution system, partnered with various distributors such as BBC and Showtime; some sort of pay-per-view deal or something. I haven't looked into it a whole lot.
I'm not particularly interested in this, but it worries me a bit. You know any HD movie distribution system like this is going to use some form of DRM. I fear Azureus 3.0 may be negatively impacted by such a partnership. Has anyone used it yet; is it as good as previous versions? Why are all the mirrors down? The one thing that bugs me about Azureus (besides being Java ) is that it has a nag screen begging for donations. Nag screens on free, open-source software, what? That they would employ this sort of annoyance makes me doubt very little that they would cripple Azureus itself at the request of their new partners. |

Posted by NSNickOr does it go off, and you wake up just enough to shut it up and immediately go back to sleep without remembering the incident, thus waking up later wondering why it didn't go off? This happens to me often. I ask someone why they didn't wake me up and they tell me they did 3 times. |

They come up after you use it a while. I'm not sure if it's based on transfer, run time, etc but they'll show up. Fortunately they can be closed immediately with Advanced Window Menu.
The issue I'm thinking of is that Vuze will almost certainly use DRM, and if they're willing to do that, and willing to put nag screens in Azureus, who knows what else they may do especially when these companies are now involved. Vuze apparently uses Azureus to transfer the videos. |

Jack Thompson is good for gamers. He makes people take the whole anti-game thing much less seriously.
That article had some interesting quotes. That's right, it's because of that shooting that video games exist! It's Fox News, who cares? Blackhole: Watch them install Duke Nukem on his computer and blame it. Seriously, I wouldn't doubt it. And yeah, school shootings are terrible. |

Heh, that sounds kinda like the sort of thing I'd want. A program that lets you replay events from the past, and modify them to see how things would turn out with those changes, and if you like it, apply them. And while we're fantasizing, make it able to record/replay/edit/delete dreams and memories and copy them between disk and brain.
If you had a ridiculously powerful, you could in effect simulate the Earth starting from a given time, and watch the simulation unfold. If you've done it right it would unfold just the same as it did in reality, so you'd be able to view the past and possibly future. But this has three problems: 1) Where the hell do you get a computer that powerful? 2) How do you retrieve all of the information necessary for precise simulation? You'd have to pretty much have the position and speed of every atom. 3) What happens when you get to the part where the computer is built? You'd have a simulation that includes the computer running the simulation. Paradox! (Well maybe not, but the memory requirements to track every atom make it impossible anyway, so nyeah.) |

Hell, kill him with a video game. Bash him over the head with a PS3 or something. The irony would be awesome.
But that'd mean buying a PS3. |

1802 (my first user ID ). Girls who will make up ridiculous excuses as to why they can't go out this weekend or the next or the one after that etc etc. Right you're going fishing this weekend and last you were visiting relatives and before that you were dying of Cancer and before that you were climbing Everest. Sure. What's wrong with just saying no? Like being rejected and lied to at the same time is supposed to hurt less than just being rejected?
(Seriously, you should have heard some of the excuses this one girl came up with. I kept asking her just to hear them, knowing they were BS. They were pretty damn funny.) 1803. Not knowing how to word things. 1804. Not being able to tell if someone's doing #1802 or not. 1805. Not being able to stop thinking about something. 1806. Windows failing so hard at supporting multiple monitors. |

Even distribution is ideal, but maybe one person needs more? If you're lounging in your recliner watching your high-def TV while your brother is working double shifts just to pay the rent, well... |
