I'm finally starting my own project for my game which I should have done a very long time ago. I did not want to make a post until the 2nd level was complete, but I just came a bit early. I make this post cause it might be able to help me to get stuff done faster. I started in 2006 officially, and have had 1 person who has helped me out ever since luckily.
That is Megaman-Omega, whom I consider like the co-creator of my game. He helps out with graphic/sprite design, ideas, and level design.

Credit goes to him for the awesome robot master designs, sprites, and tilesets, level graphics. I can program almost anything I want in the NES's assembley for my game, as long as I choose to. But i'm very SLOW at getting things done unfortanetly.

Infidelity will help out with new music for the game, because i've helped him out greately with his Megaman Ultra 2. But i have not asked him for anything yet.

I'm not that good at storytelling, idea thinking (sometimes from time to time), and graphics.

I have made a thread on rockmanPM today about this, located here
I'm just trying to keep this post kind of short so i dont turn away people from reading far too much. So that's why most of the main details are on there instead of here, i just happened to pick that board for some reason before i picked acmlm

But i believe i may get more attention with fellow rom hackers on this board because Im familiar with many more people on here compared to RockmanPM.

When will this project be completed?? I just dont know, but i tell everyone "someday in the 2010's".

Well since i need to show screenshots: here's just a couple random ones:

Endless attack - nah, i really dont think i want to. Will take forever just to get all these levels designed first anyways.
Honestly it would take me far much longer to code the events/enemies/bosses compared to even doing actual level design. :|

Okay, yea we'll talk about it on AIM infidel. Only 2 songs ive been able to ever think of so far to this date.

From feburary 2009

i would like to point out to people, that while i would hopefully like to get more people to help out with this game, im just not sure that people having my rom as-is would do any good, because i dont use assemblers like people should, and i know people give me a real hard time about this, (which is okay with me) but it's just the decision i personally made when i first started this project a couple years ago.

In other words, this game is entirly done almost in pure hex. Only actual stuff that's not is:
* putting in graphics with YY-CHR/Tile layer pro
* constructing the levels/level design, enemy placements, colors, that kind of stuff, is done with a custom-made version of the MegaFLE X level editor.

Everything else is hex edited to tell the truth, by myself.

A hack like this shouldn't got to waste, I hope more people can come together to help out. If you can kk lemme see that custom made level editor, I'd like to take a stab at a couple of levels for you since I'm hacking MM.

I hate seeing hack go into a dead state, once the levels get done everything'll fall in place I just know it. ;D

Sure i can share it with you. I may need to walk you through how to use the TSA Table editor screen mainly since that's got the biggest changes to it than the editor originally had. It may be pretty complicated to people for a little while beside myself. But it'd take a little time to get used to.

Want me to PM you about it, or talk about it with everyone in here ?

DurfarC - Yea that would be cool if i was able to have a couple original custom made songs that are not from other games someday in the future if possible.

I did see your video in the screenshot thread about how you were able to make a gameboy song with the NES mm3-6 music format, that's pretty cool.

about the music? yea i know. The mm3-6 music format is 100% purely the same. I know how to easily copy-paste songs and sound effects if i want easily with little effort.

i'm just not a music composer..so i wouldn't be able to make my own music

Oh well uhh..i did it on my game specificially, not a original mm3 rom. My game's so much different than a original mm3 rom that almost purely next-to-nothing is the same anymore in terms of location. Im not being greedy or anything, i hope i do not give off the wrong impression.

Plus i didn't ever save changes in the hex editor, i closed the emulator without keeping the changes or jotting it down on notepad immediately after i made a little 20 second video, so i dont remember what i did already. And i did not feel like trying to "per-fect" since i did it really fast without spending much thought/time on it. sorry.

Not great really. I still have not been really doing hardly anything at all truthfully. Just been spending most days for the last few weeks sleeping all day, or playing pokemon platinum. :| I do need to get more people to help out if i ever stand any chance at ever making my life long goal come true.

and my eye sight is becoming poor. I will not lie to people but there is just a possibility that i might not be able to continue this game anymore someday like in a year or so from now if my eyes go out completely.
I will not quit, ... unless i die, go blind, or for some reason not able to have a computer+internet for the rest of my life.

-----------------------------------
Weapons for megaman:
* only duplex weapon is finished 100% (long time ago)
* bolt weapon is only like some-what done. I've been having such trouble with this that i've not bothered to even touch it for months. There's a kind of pattern i want to make it have that i've dicussed with mm-omega, but it's very complicated to even talk about it, let alone doing it.

Tehcnically, only 1 single weapon is even finished. no others made yet.
--------------------------------------
unfinished [not started on] Non-gameplay screens:
* Get weapon
* Boss selected
* dr light lab inside (see note below)
* dr light lab outside (2 permenate screens i wish to have for anytime in the game, not just 1 single story plot)
---------------------------------------
Bosses coded (long time ago before the boltman level was even made):
Boltman, Duplex, Necro, partily spin
Boltman's AI will most likely be re-done a bit eventually soon, but not at this time. i did him over 2 years ago.

I'm supposed to use assemblers like NORMAL people do when coding stuff on rom hacks or homebrews...but i just naturally chose to do everything in hex when i first started from the very beginning... so i spent like a year and a half just to even code 2 of these 8 robot masters. :-/

no other guys coded yet.
---------------------------------------
Stages done
Only 1 single stage as you all already know, bolt.
duplex is only like 60-ish %

Well i'll try to stop talking about it and ask you guys.

Would anyone be willing to help out with some of these non-gameplay type of screen at the least? I've seriously wanted to do them sooo long ago, always kept coming back to it countless times thinking "what should i do for it" ...but then always end up putting it off time after time forgetting about it.

For the Boss selected screen after you choose one of the normal 8 robot masters.
I wanted a new look and special effect for this. Im not interested in what most megaman games do where there's just a plain horizontal strip in the middle with the boss + name .. while on a empty background full of scrolling stars. I just do not want to do that. It's been done so many times.

Megaman 6 for the NES was totally original in my opinion. Where a bunch of balls come from outside and move in-ward toward the middle of screen, screen flashes a couple times, and then there's a nice graphically detailed background with information and stuff + boss in middle.
I dont know of any other games off the top of my head that did cool stuff like that.

Megaman-omega thought i should have giant big close-ups of the bosses. But mmmm well ..ehh i kinda dont think i really want to. I figure that would take a tooon of graphic space, and i'd have to code like 8 totally seperate screens to do that.

I just dont know what i want to do for this screen that'd look cool and unique. I wanted to get a couple of these things done and over with so i dont have to always come back thinking about it.
It's been bugging me for a couple years. And i'd like to have a nice graphically detailed bg possibly and 'course boss + name.

One of my big problems with me is that i can't really be able concentrate to do anything without graphics, or well the plan already laid out first. Dont mean to sound silly or anything. :|

** About showing the level your playing, no i do not like that. Sorry. I get the impression it's like spoilers to what the stage looks like and the boss's room before even playing or getting there.

Because all the 8 robot master stages are actually 2 levels long each. I never intended for this to happen. I thought i would have only done it for boltman. But im not turning back now as the 1st duplex level is finished, while the 2nd is currently in progress. the first boltman level is a valley, and the final screen background is the intro to the 2nd boltman level being the tower. So i decline that idea.

I do intend on having a level preview picture on the empty window below the boss portraits for the stage select, like those pictures on the stage select for X1-X3, but that wont be for along while still.

** The X3 stuff on the playstation version was really cool, i liked that. I remember that stuff. I own the mm X anniversary collection for PS2. But that's all movie stuff. Can't possibly ever be able to movie scenes on NES. So i decline that idea as well. :|

** Yea i think that info was useless as well on mm6. Well just specifically all the stats about speed attack power defense or whatever. But the other parts were good. but well ..i dont know.

God it's so dang hard thinking of something to officially do. That's why it's one of my main weaknesses.

Mineyl - I do appreciate it very much. About your support.
Oh okay i see what you mean now about that. yea. i'd only perfer having 1 single screen though, not a bunch in showing off the boss. I do not wanna have to make a crap load of screens just for something like this but ya know what i mean.
--------------------------------
Keiya633 - yes it would be cool if i was able to have a couple custom songs someday in the future. And no i was not ever going to ask you about translating japanese stuff. i'm fine.

Well actually about the facts about the selected boss, i was actually planning on wanting to have information said about each of the 8 bosses by Dr Light for the "get weapon" screen, or after/before. Like on X5 and X6 how alia talks about a little history of the stage you played or the boss. I really liked that and would like to have some back-storys for each of the 8 bosses. But obviously wont be for a long time either.
---------------------------------
I did actually just come up with an idea last night/this morning. I thought about that i'd want some type of scenerary before the boss actually appears. Like this:
http://www.a3share.com/members/1119/idea1.PNG

this screen bg is not officially on my game at this momment - it was just copy-pasted from mm5, and copy-pasted botman onto it just to show ya guys.

Where the boss is standing above some high mountain or plain or platform or something. But before they appear. The sky quickly changes from a day time to night time pallete, or night time to day time. etc. but in this example above. i tried that out but it really doesn't work at all with this setup of the mountain background - about trying a day time pallete. It just doesn't look right. i think a BG would have to be very specific with no horizon lines to look proper...im not sure. :-/

Insectduel - you just literally seriously tempted me to do it. And...so i did. Only took about 4 hours. But it's 100% finished, and fully functional
Like pressing left/right to scroll through the songs or sounds 1 by 1. They are seperated so only music plays music, only sound plays sound.

A button = play
B button = instantly cancel sound and music

as for that boss selected situation,
im declaring that officially "on hold" once again ... it's like i'm never going to be able to get it out of the dang way.

Hey guys. I have alot on my mind. I have not been on a comp for almost a week and a half until just last night. I had 1 single virus on my comp, AVG got rid of it, computer than restarts infintely, or the "blue screen of death" saying windows logon process terminated system shutdown.

A friend of my brother was going to help, so we disconnected my comp in hopes we'd see someone asap. But the guy never called my brother. I talked to a close friend of mine using xbox 360 online. he had some things for me to try. I try hooking up my comp, and the tower sparked and killed the power supply but not the hard drive.

I had everything backed up luckily on a portable USB HD. I did not lose any of my password, romhacking tools, megaman 3 hack pictures and files, and so on. My dad found a guy in our local paper to see who was really nice and had lots of computers for me to check out. I picked one i liked, and i bring it home night before last night right ?? 210 dollars. The darn thing doesn't even work right, hard drive kept randomly turning off and on that i couldn't do anything.
Brought it back to the guy, he felt sorry and gave us a replacement tower at no cost. But this one is okay, but it's really noisy and loud which i do not like, plus the sound is all messed up and i dont know how to fix it. So i have to stick with what i got.
-----------------------------------------------
I felt so terrible one night thinking about this whole game, all you guys, my reputation online, everything. I cried myself to sleep saying outloud i would never be able to finish my game ever now just period. But thankfully im back online. It's going to take some time for me to catch up and regain my mind and soul.

I dont want to cancel this like infidel NEARLY did for his hack. I just dont. My dad seriously wants me to get a online job somehow of some kind but im clueless on that. I still wanna finish my game to someday even though im so slow as hell as you all already know.

I really do feel i need to work harder on this thing if it ever stands a chance at seeing the light of day, i feel bad even typing this, wil you guys still support me ? Will some of you volunteer to help out with level design and such for the next levels? I spend all the time on basically the coding of the enemies, but no graphic drawing skills since that lies with megaman-omega, and whoever else would be willing to lend a hand.

Googie - i feel i should have PM'ed you from the beginning about giving you the MegaFLE version i use that's custom to this game. And i swear im going to as soon as i get visual basic 6 downloaded onto this new NOISY tower asap.

Its been so rough for me honestly. And i missed everyone so much.

Wow gosh insectduel, you sure have had it rough yourself i can totally imagine. Im lucky i've never really had any major serious problems. But this was really my first big big one in all the 8 years i've been into computers this last week. Good thing your okay too at least currently.

Well guys, even though the duplex stage isn't even still finished. Still still only 1 true whole level done in the history of this hack, i was hoping a bunch of us, not just me and megaman-omega could maybe try getting a start on like the Necro Man stage while i'd still wait for mm-omega in us trying real hard to get duplex all done and over with.

Just anyone. I'll be sure to PM googie as soon as i'm able to get the time to get myself back to normal officially. I hope it wont be long. I really really do want this game to be finished in the future. I set my standards way far too high to go. But i do very much appreciate all your people's comments about me taking my time, but i do wanna let you guys use the MegaFLE level editor privately, and talk with you guys about plans and stuff

Yes fabian. And thank you too, means alot.

I felt that i wanted to tell everyone that I would like to have a 2nd demo for the public, but this will be it for awhile, i do not want to do this for every new completed level. Just only a 2nd time-only type of thing.

After duplex is all finished, i'd like to have a demo for all you guys. The reason why this 2nd official level has now already taken MORE time to do then boltman (first level)
Since boltman was from August 2008 to Feburary 2009
And duplex is from Feburary 2009 to present still currently ... well part of that reason obviously is cause of my slow-ness, i did nothing at all many times for a few weeks at a time even.

But then also a reason is because these 2 duplex levels altogether have all brand new enemies. Absolutely not a single thing is originally used from mm3. So it's been taking a very long time for me to code/program all the new enemies from mm-omega's very excellent spriting skills. Im thinking i will only end up coding about 2 more enemies for the space station level. (which is what im focusing on, while he's doing the other stuff)

I have no idea when this is going to be finished. Im predicting another month probably :| I'm really really trying to get this made so we may move onto our 3rd level. Im sure you guys will really like it though.

I decided I will take that name "Odyssey" for this game. I really like it. So then after 4 years it's finally the official name of this hack.

But i still want a sub-title, but i dont ever know what I want it to be since I dont have a true storyline yet, but this game WILL have storyline since i've got those text scripts i coded along time ago that i can activate at any time or place, in levels and stuff.

I also would like to have the megaman III logo on the title redrawn and stuff, but again i dont know what the sub-title name will be. I do plan on wanting to have both a japanese and english logo. Rockman and Megaman Odyssey depending on the game language setting that the player chooses.

Speedremix might be able to draw the logo design, but im not positive.
