thats very great to hear about the slowdown fixed. I guarentee you'll be getting lots of comments from people about it.

I gotta tell ya when i updated the "megaman 3 improvement" to ver 2.0 almost 2 years after my intial release in 2013 --- update in June 2015 i think ...ohhhh my god i swear EVERYONE talks about the extremely little-to-none lag for Megaman 3 more than anything i ever did in the hack's entirety.

Somehow people love that more than any other kind of edit for some reason. Maybe a little odd, but it does make me happy. I've seen very many youtube videos, and recorded streams on Twitch always mentioning "megaman 3 is so awesome with NO lag" ...number 1 most talked about thing heh

So if that's any indiciation, then im sure people will be praising you for that alot too.

No, afraid.
It's about my habit of always adding 10 byte text labels anywhere/everywhere i possibly can, on the hex editor. To seperate blocks of data and code, to make it a little easier to find stuff i've worked on in the past and current.

I told infidelity to do this, to help him with his Zelda Legend of Link.
And it's worked wonders for him. Believe me if you look at his game, you'll find hundreds of these labels EVERYWHERE in his rom on the hex editor.

heres some examples from his zelda
https://s31.postimg.org/lu7w9mxvf/zelda.png

and here's the Story Intro stuff from Megaman 3 Improvement:
https://s31.postimg.org/ylv97mmez/mm3improve.png

It's easy.
you click on the far right side of the hex editor - fceux by the way.
then you can type normal regular letters there, you dont need to know any hex numbers, because it converts it all automatically.

Very nice graphics usage. It doesnt matter that your using graphics from the later megaman games, cause it looks good.

what really makes it stand out is how clever it looks the way you place them.

It's very unique and very cool the way your designing and placing them in such cool looking ways.

I wish i was able to suggest to you to use Megaman 3 Improvement ..in combination with your hack, but it's far too late ...it would only screw up all the graphics placements and probably a few other things.

might be cause your SaveRAM chip is not large enough. if it's a normal regular 8 KB save chip ...thing, then that's likely why. need one of those 32 KB chips, or a 2nd one i think ( i dont know how it works with actual real carts)

I do the same thing with my game Megaman Odyssey -- not save files, but i store alot of data in the 2nd and 3rd "saveram" pages which means you need a battery larger than 8 KB. ($5113 reg is 01 and 02)

https://s12.postimg.io/wd140kdzh/palbreak.png

Go to the hard man level in megafle, then go to Screen 18 (should be 1 room after the hardman room) .. but it's okay if your level was shorter or whatever.

If your breakman screen is screen 18 like the original here, then here it is.

Anyways, set BG pal to 1 ...then you can edit the palette for that screen. (it's a bunch of random colors by default, so you can change them safely)

Oh your right, i did not realize it was loaded seperately. my bad. I found it though now.

https://s18.postimg.io/w8aoinvop/pal2.png
the palette is here
31E3A-31E49

sprite pallete is immediately following that - 31E4A-31E59
but i doubt that needs to be touched at all.

im in the same with you. i cant make my own music, and i dont have knowledge of how any of that stuff works, cause i never studied anything music related in school, in my childhood (never cared for it) so all those dozens of terms and words make no sense to me.

I could copy-paste songs from the other capcom music format (whatever games use them) Officially i've never done that a single time ever before, only sound effects.
-- it's still a very long process though ...have to change all the Jump pointers, the instrument numbers, insert any instruements other game's songs might be using ... it's long and grueling.

I dont know of any program in existence to ever help us with doing such stuff. I wish there would be 1 person out there in the world who was able to make a program to help with this stuff ...kind of like fami tracker (but fami tracker has it's own format ..so you cant just copy fami tracker files to the capcom music format freely.

I highly recommend checking this out, this is a guide by Za909 to help us at least.

http://acmlm.kafuka.org/board/thread.php?pid=155485#155485 - this is the user friendly one

http://www.romhacking.net/documents/274/ - and this is the more moderate to adanced one. :|

I have a question first, why kill yourself when shooting ??

How are you even supposed to play the game at all like that...

how do you even complete your 1st level without any weapons besides rush coil.

In megaman 1 and 2, and 6 specifically...there is nothing else you start with, mega buster only. What is the point of this ?

megaman's body colors (you dont need to edit the white/peach so i left that out, but they are right next to these spots though, i dont recommend it though)

But anyway here's megaman's normal body colors

255C-255D - this is the one that seems to affect restarting at checkpoints and weapon menu

3D4C4-3D4C5 - i dont know what this is for, because it seems to be ignored when restarting level.

Also hey there Jriva, im willing to try 1 song for you and your megaman 3 hack, because i have nothing to do for my own game. I dont need your ROM or anything. I can do this on a clean un-modified megaman 3 rom, and you'll be able to insert the changes hopefully.

What song do you want to replace in megaman 3 ...with what song from the other megaman games or other capcom music format games ?
must be megaman 4, 5, 6, or one of the others listed in Matrixz's capcom music format document

Im not sure why this has not gotten literally any exposure anywhere at all...

Well, Rockman CX was completed very recently. This has been a very long awaited hack for several years. I'd highly recommend anyone to check it out
This is "the next big thing" since Rockman 4 Minus Infinity in my opinion!

ehhh, ive never been a fan of "fan games" at all. I just dont like them much at all.

Megaman, mario, zelda, anything.
I perfer "romhacks" instead. i'm far more loyal to the romhacking world than i ever would be with "fan games".

and they're not subject to all that crap people get with their "fan games" being targeted by nintendo or whoever else.

yea i really wanted to know too what all the story text was about. theres alot of story throughout the game. And there's TONS of random things Dr Light says every time you die to him ...

there must have been like 15 or 20 or more seperate things he says each time you die/restart against him...
i seriously want to know what all of those scripts were saying!

Capcom Music Editor version 0.1 release:

http://acmlm.kafuka.org/uploader/get.php?id=5140

This is an editor that was originally designed by ColdIced or "martin bedard" many years ago which was never released to the public.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBLnmUVExRZ0DGjoHxdG8jw

I very recently got in contact with this author, and was given permission to edit the source code for it, to try editing it a little bit, fixing it up, and hopefully finish some things, and ultimately release to the public.

This will be able to help fellow romhackers with composing songs for the NES megaman 3, 4, 5, and 6 with little hex needed.

It originally only supported NSF's, but i've added the ability for it to support the NES megaman ROMS in the past few days too. I plan to release this soon once i feel it's ready. I wanted to let people know of this, and it should be useful to people. I was able to make a song someone else made in Fami Tracker ...to the Megaman 3-6 sound format using this program alone!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
update 11-09-16:

Decided to finally release the 1st version. It's not 100% perfect or anything and i did not finish everything i wanted to do, but it should be enough for anyone to be able to compose their own songs with this editor.

No, this is only intended for the games using this type of music engine. Megaman 1 and 2 have a totally different music engine compared to megaman 3 to 6.
I dont have any knowledge really with megaman 1 and 2 and not interested in those ones honestly.

Also i've not said much back on this. But im still trying to get it all fixed up, i dont know when i'll be finished and ready, but i will change the topic name of this post to say that's it's released instead of "coming soon".

I fixed the breaks/loops thing, so it can work with line 1000 and higher, but it doesnt support editing the 1000's digit just yet but im going to soon.

Also im going to try adding an ability for it to auto detect song's ROM address, so a person is not expected to know where they are located in the ROMs.

Sorry, but no. - Im not accepting any requests right now...

Im still having a really difficult time trying to deal with the so called "pitch slide" command still...i have not yet got it fully working just yet. every single freaking time i try to port one song to another megaman game, there's always something messed up

and almost every single time it's because of pitch slides... cause there seems to be like 20 different types of ways the megaman games use it.

Okay im going to release this first version now. I wasnt able to quite finish everything i really wanted to do. But it should be good enough for now.

This supports both the ROMs and NSF's for megaman 3, 4, 5, 6 only. No other games are supported or will be. -- There are other NES games that use this specific music engine mentioned in the Capcom Music Format guide by Matrixz, but i didnt bother supporting those cause the only intrest here is megaman.

I cant say for sure if i ever will update this again. But i truly hope it will be useful to some people though as it has been for me so far.
