Ever heard of a new Rockman game from PureSabe called Rock52015NY? You should try this out just for entertainment.

Yup i saw his twitter said "website was updated" so i went and checked his front page, says he made a small little hack just like last year. A fun little Rockman 5 "new years" hack.

I wont say what it is (no spoiler) -- but i loved it. Took me 10-15 tries to beat it.

yea like zieldak said, this is a bit complicated, because it cant be expanded unless it was actually moved to some other place with more room.

6241-62FC - so this is all you get for doing anything you want to the 8 faces. (the next 10 bytes after 62FC are the 4 flashing dots, so dont go past 62FC)

yea can add more, i know exactly what piece of code controls it, i chose not to include that info yet, because... unless there was somewhere with more than CC bytes of free space, but "not" over 100, you'd want to relocate it to.

ehhhh, well just focus for now on doing whatever you can for your face's, then reply back again if you dont have enough space left..like for example you only completed 6 of 8 guy's face sprites, then we'll see.

hmm, that's 17 (11 hex) sprite tiles if i counted correctly.

Assumiing you already did actually insert your 5 other faces and they used exactly BC bytes (CC with the 4 flashing dots)

11 x 4 = 44 more bytes of sprite data

CC + 44 = 110 ...
your over the limit.
You have too much.

you'd need to make your faces less complicated...or delete exactly 4 tiles from something (anything)

why do you still think that patches will work on both versions ?? if a author only makes a patch for a specific version, then it's for that version only... not the other one... unless they actually made 2 seperate patches

isn't it obvious yet ?? no offense. it just really bugs me to see when a person trys to use one patch version on a different version and expect it to magically work...

some people actually do state in their readme's like "only use megaman 2 USA, not japanese rockman 2 rom" or stuff like that. and some people dont.
I honestly feel more people should include that statement in their instructions in my personal opinion

I finished playing this hack about a week ago. I really enjoyed it very much. Graphics are very good (freaking LOVE gravity man, it's amazing!) --

the protoman levels are much much longer than originally as insectduel mentioned in his review video today. I also liked that.

and i looooved hearing the Doom Castle song from Final Fantasy mystic quest in this hack surprisingly.

insectduel - by the way about your rock 2 yender code review a while back, l laughed so freaking hard when you said "son of a ass!" in the wily 2 level. nothing personal or anything, it just gave me a real nice laugh and smile

Well there is, see here:

This is NOT a link to the patch, but author "nikumo" made a Rockman 2 MMC5 patch (for japanese version) in - August, 2012

2 patches actually, one keeps the rom the original size, and another one expands the ROM to 1 MB size.

I dont know the author's website though

I can do that. This is what things look like so far.
Using my "megaman 3 improvement" hack as the "base"
Rom is upgraded to 768 KB for more graphics and coding space.

Still MMC3 mapper, dont have to change that at all whatsoever, just leaving it as it is.

Do you wish for it to continue ?? Or not neccessary ?
Well....if you really want it to be so.

(i stopped now cause this was just a test, this loads immediately after the nintendo capcom screen)

I plan on branding this as "megaman 3 improvement" Version 2.0
"Only if" this person will let us borrow the graphics.

Otherwise i wont continue this at all until then...

I'll make sure to credit him in the updated readme / change log, and you guys about the text.

I had a couple other minor edits to add too. Some things i did on Odyssey before, i'll do on here. Just "un-used" stuff from original mm3 rom i mean.

Hmm nah, rather not be kept waiting a long time for another new graphic. Well originally my thought was to just only do all the programming and setup and such as much as possible, and let any future megaman 3 romhackers put the graphics in if they want.

But then i realized that's not so easy. This is kinda like "moderate to advanced level" difficulty. So i am doing that.

Because those pictures were soooo huge they take about 400 to 500 invidiaul graphic tiles each. And usually only 256 tiles can be displayed at a time without swapping graphics pages.

I had to write a custom IRQ to switch the graphic pages half-way down the pictures to display them all. Only the first 2 images with Wily/Light are 100% finished right now. Check out what it looks like on the TSA table in megafle.

They're so big that the Rush Jet/Megaman picture has to go into another totally seperate "level data" area heh.
Currently waiting for "megaman USA" to give thantos the picture of the planets.
