I got a question for you. Did you yourself actually go to that nesproductions website and request having a custom cart with your hack on it?? cause i was browsing the site a few nights ago and saw your hack name on a nes cart on that website.

Another really excellent japanese rom hacker wins again.
They're always the best when it comes to doing rockman hacks.

I really like this new music so far, it's pretty cool. I think the new quickman song is my favorite so far. I've played all 8 stages so far but only managed to beat 2 today. It sure is hard as hell.

I'm so jealous of the level design and music though. I swear to make mine really good for my own Megaman 3 hack, but it'll be 2-3 years from now until i begin designing my levels, as im currently working on the 8 bosses and nothing else right now.

Edit: I just located a possibly more recent version of this for you all.
http://yamaika-web.hp.infoseek.co.jp/
this is the author's website. It seems like it's just a large message board, but i was reading through google translation, and i found a link down under the 10/21 section, which is the hack itself, and it's got 2 versions, a Hard mode, and a Easy Mode.
the IPS patches are bigger than what Blackhole89 found, so i think this is a updated version.
Well the website does mention that this one is complete

Also i translated the readme file so we could find out what he's saying
http://www.a3share.com/members/108/ff.PNG

The hard version sounds pretty cool hehe

http://yamaika-web.hp.infoseek.co.jp/RockmanNo_constancy.zip
direct link straight from their website

edit2: I think it's a very BAD idea of them to reduce the invisiable time on hard mode.. fuck i couldn't stand playing for more than 5 minutes cause basically once you get hit by even the most weakest of enemies, it'll become next to nearly impossible to re-gain control of megaman, causing you to lose more than half your life immediately, or just plain die. :-/
stick with the normal

Yes it will work just fine with J, U, or E roms.
Because i work with megafle myself frequently and tend to be opening japanese mm3 roms in megafle just fine with no trouble.

Yea there's generally about 2 seperate types of data for constructing sprites.
Well i dont know about megaman 1 and 2 ...
but 3, 4, and 5 follow the exact same format.
There's a table for x/y positions
And a table for tile id/pallete/flipping prioritys for every single gameplay sprite in the game (not including non-gameplay screens)
I'm not going to go into detail how the coding side of the format works since that can get complicated, but it is looped though after a certain point.
And run in a specific way to allow for sprite flicker handling so that sprites will flicker instead of being hidden all the time if there's more than 64 active sprites currently on the screen ..(or 8 per scanline)
You wouldn't need to do any coding at all.

Just editing the data tables only after you figured how to work it properly.

Awsome insedectuel, looks really great and exciting. I've wondered how the level data formats and stuff were in that game compared to the NES counterparts. I doubt anywhere near being close since genesis ASM would be alot more complicated than 6502.

Can't wait to get to check it out though.

Well, hopefully you're using the MegaFLE 0.50 for working with your megaman 4 hack by Matrixz. It'll do mostly anything level realated. But for something like you described about lil weapon icons next to the lifebars, well I've done something exactly like that for my megaman 3 hack in-progress (which won't be finished for many more years), and you'll have to actually have very good understanding of 6502 Assembley to do something like that. Considering your new, it will NOT be easy for you to do until you learn how to program your own routines and study how existings ones in the game work first.

So i'm not trying to sound discouraging or negative or anything but it'll take alot of practice and time until being able to do completely custom made stuff.

Looks good man, keep it up. I would show a lil video of my MM3 hack, but i really don't have anything to show off at all, i got no level design yet (and won't be starting on it until a few more years)

I don't think there is any other version other than 1.1 ...considering the copyright is 2000/2001 ..So highly doubtful it will ever be updated ever again. ..but there's some things about it also that bug me that I wish were fixed. Like it's supposed to automatically detect where the CHR-ROM is located in a game with CHR-ROM ....but it never does it right....

Like if it's at $40000 in a game, TLP will think it's at 20000 ...
If 80000 ..it thinks it's at 40000 ..sucks
YY-CHR doesn't have that problem though but im more comfortable with tile layer pro

I recognized that. I believe this was by "Blast Hornet" since it's hosted on his japanese site. But it was never finished, and probably never will. (real bummer im sure it would of turned out excellent) He was the author of Rockman EXILE. Only 2 stages were complete i think other than the bubbleman one.

Did it take a lot of code to put the weapons picture in, and the charge meter?

No, not really. I don't remember how much. But probably 50 or so bytes.

I actually know of a bunch more rockman 2 hacks (all by japanese people, no english) from reading japanese 2ch board every day frequently that i've never seen before. And also got several japanese sites bookmarked that I'm keeping on eye on checking for updates every single day, and there's even some more new ones currently under development as we speak.

Sure.
I'm a bit worried that some of these are not even being worked on at all because there hasn't been updates on them in months.

Oh dont worry about the negative comments from some people. Personally i actually get really tired of seeing millions of mario hacks all the time...but i keep my thoughts to myself cause I don't want to end up getting flamed by people. My love lies in rockman/megaman. I'm interested in it more than any other type of game project going on. And i'd say that the megaman rom hacking community is just as active as Mario. Well actually really maybe not because there's far more activity with the japanese than us english people. :-s

Yea i know about rockman 2nd, i've played/completed it before quite awhile ago. The same person who did that also did a "rockman 3rd" ..but sadly only a couple stages were done, and it's been abandonded and won't be worked on anymore considering it was like 4 years ago.

Anyway yea I'm totally "for" your idea

I once did a quick sucidal related thing once before with megaman 3 one night just cause I was bored. By shooting the Hard Knuckle weapon, and it normally goes forward and up/down if you press up/down ya know? It'd go forward for a little while then suddenly turn around and head straight for megaman to instantly kill him.

No, he said that the purpose of that page is that is where he will host his hack at in the future. We do not know when, considering this paritcualar mm2 hack is new, and only been in production for probably less than 2 months so far.
