I'm not cheap enough to use MIDI. It'll all high quality sounds in MP3. The sawtooth bass is made with a fairly decent VST plugin, I just happened to make it too sharp which gives that NES kind of feel. As for metallic/echo, I tried to do that as best I could without adding another instrument. I wanted to make it atmospheric, but it didn't come out as well as I wanted.

MIDI isn't actual sound, it's just data to tell a computer what sounds to produce. With that said, no, you can't change MIDI samples. You have to get some better software if you want to change the samples.

Well, being entirely honest, it's very lacking. It's very repetative, it lacks depth, and it's cheaply made. Now I know this is one of your first works, so I give you some props. However, you need to work on adding more depth, such as drums, bass, and other sounds. Once you've mastered this kind of stuff start working on variation. Make a loop and repeat it once. After that transit into something else, then make the transition to the original loop but change it up a bit. This will teach you how to not only make your song lasting, but it'll also teach you how to do proper transitions.

As for it being cheaply made, I can't really discredit you much for that. You are kinda new at this (or so it seems), so you don't really know what to do yet. From what I can hear in your song, all you used was FL Presets which were a little too loud and caused distortion. As you go along, you're going to want to start making your own sounds or using better samples. Another thing is that since it was distorted, you need to work on proper volume. As you make your songs with more depth, you'll have a lot more to deal with and it's harder to fix.

I know this is a lot, but I just want to get you to know what you're doing. Eventually you're going to need to learn how to balance out frequencies, which is known as mastering, automated control, or envelop, and various other technics. It'll come to you though. Just mess around and you'll be amazed at what you can create.
