Greetings fellow rom hackers, I'm Asher an amateur rom hacker who found this forum mostly from the success of Parallel worlds.

I've browsed a bit for the past few days and decided I'd sign up and propose the idea I had for a rom hack. The reason I'm really proposing anything is because I'm looking for people who may be willing to help me make this idea a reality. I've messed around with a lot of rom hacking tools especially Zelda and my main problems are the rom corrupting from my own mistakes and not being able to do certain things on my own like graphics, music, etc

I figured if anyone liked my idea enough they'd be willing to help out, or at least give me advice or ideas as to what I should do to make my hack the best I can.

So here is my idea for the rom hack I'm calling Meadow of Shadows ( subject to change )

A bit of backstory to my idea: Long before Hyrule existed the land was shrouded in what is known as the Meadow of Shadows, a beautiful land full of treasure and wonders. However all these amazing things came at the price of darkness. The land was filled with all sorts of monsters and negative emotions. The people were greedy and could not enjoy their treasures. Eventually it became too much to handle and they began hiding their treasure away where no one even themselves could not get it back again. As they did this the shadows slowly began to disperse as time passed on.

Years into the future the tales of these treasures are passed on into present day Hyrule. Many thieves have tried unlocking the secrets and treasures but all fail. You play as Link who one day while preforming an errand for your uncle who is a knight of the royal family you hear that one of the chambers was discovered and the treasure was stolen, releasing the shadows back onto parts of the land. A famous explorer known as Ketsu approaches Link and requests that he help him try to discover who did this and take them down.

There are still a lot of ideas I'm thinking about and how I'll do this but I really would like to see if there is anyone interested in helping me with ideas, development, and what not. If you have anything you'd like to say about the game or want to join me on working on it please do!

Yeah it's Zelda LttP, sorry about that I made this thread rather hastily. Though even if i were to make something it wouldn't be much for eye candy which is usually what attracts people to this stuff but I'll try to make up some stuff from what I can do.

A few questions before I start with hacking the game since I've had a lot of difficulties with Hyrule Magic in the past.

1. What version of the rom is best to use for distributing the ips file?
2. Is the Zcompress + YY-CHR method better or the manual export import?
3. Can the opening scene of the game be edited? ( With aghanim and all that )
4. Is there anyone who knows how to do the big key chest key mechanic from parallel worlds that would be willing to explain/help me with that?

If anyone else has any advice for hacking Zelda 3 it would be greatly appreciated, as well as thank you to MikeTechno for the words of encouragement!

If there is anyone on here who plays animal crossing and wants to discuss item trades or anything like that, I've been looking for people to play it with.

I don't have much to post here but I should warn that I time travel, and I'm willing to let people who are just starting out get their game going faster.

My music tastes are all over the place but if I had to pick something I could listen to in any mood it'd be techno music.

Been listening to the LP of Devastation by Duane and Brand0
http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL82CD44262FB94FFC

Really nice album with a lot of sweet nostalgia.
Also good to note that duane and brand0 had been broken up for awhile but just got back together so I'm expecting more awesome tracks from them

Update! I began working on Links' sprites and I'm actually pretty proud considering how difficult it was to import them back in.

This is only his side shot and towards the camera but I'm still working diligently just so people see that I have an intent on working on this and not just relying on others to do it for me

More to come soon, also working on the title screen and a new castle design.

Another update!

First off, more progress on Links' sprites.
I'll only post links so it doesn't take up too much room for now
Game Over
Falling Animation
Swinging the sword

Next up I've got a new knight spriting

Next up on the list will be to finish link, do some interior dungeon design, some outside graphics like the grass and trees, and finally begin working on the first dungeon where you save Zelda!

Oh, and in reply to puzzledude, I was having difficulties with the whole 16 color thing so it was really all my own fault. Thanks for the help with the big key chest key mechanic I have yet to test it but I'm sure I'll get to it.
