I've known about FamiTracker for about a year and a half, found it by accident lol.
I think that happened to me as well.
Posted by Craftvania
I was never aware that FamiTracker can edit NSF files.
I think you can only edit the .ftm files with FamiTracker, but you can shove 'em all into one NSF.
Posted by Craftvania
Is it possible to add extra music tracks to the NSF file and put it into the game or does that need to be programmed into the ROM itself?
You can probably add more songs into the NSF, but you may need to throw in pointers and maybe a JMP or two for the new music selection.

Cool stuff! You think you could find a PDF of this as well?

Yeah, you might wanna make sure your emulator emulates an NES perfectly. That includes programming issues.

It does. It just didn't say that turning sprite limits back on requires closing the emulator for it to take effect.
I don't remember that happening to me. Then again, I'm using FCEUXD, if that makes any difference.

I've run into a problem, and I'm a bit embarrassed to admit it: I can't find the upgrade to the sword or the raft.

Here's one screenshot. I cannot remember the other screen where the game crashed, but I think Trax found it.

what is it exactly you are doing that is causing the glitch?
I'm just running the Game Genie itself. I'm guessing it's the overhaul and I might wanna look at the mapper conversions to be sure. I'm not using FCEUXD's Game Genie encoder 'cuz I sometimes get issues by using it. The Game Genie is just a standard gg.rom that runs right before your selected rom, probably like how a real Game Genie works. It's a graphical glitch as far as I can tell, however, but I think some cheater will probably want to be able to see what code they are putting in.

The ROM hacking thread didn't die. If you didn't notice there are a good few hacks and at least one mapper conversion.

1. Like before, I would like to know the exact hex positions of MegaMan's colors. Manually searching for them by searching for the color values is tedious and can lead to errors very fast. I also would like to know the exact hex positions of MegaMan's color in the Weapon Get Screen.

There's no one location for Megaman's colors. They all seem to depend on the level. I know that manually searching for his colors is tedious, but I think he's the only one with that specific palette.
Posted by Trinitronity
2. I would also like to know, how to change text in MegaMan 3. I thought the Hex-Editor would already show, what values make which letters appear at which point on the irght side, but I guess I was wrong (the misc data document isn't really helping either)...

"Just using the hex editor" doesn't work, as I found out the hard way. You need to load a .TBL file containing the palette addresses for each letter in the hex editor. There are tutorials that show you how to do it yourself.
Posted by Trinitronity
4. I also would still like to have a NSF music portation tutorial, like for dummies, because I have composed some tracks, but I'm clueless about how to actually add it. I'm mainly concerned about music, which replace an old track, but is longer then the old track. The tutorial by za909 might work, but I still need to study it a bit more.

Something along the lines of placing them in the right addresses so your music won't overwrite what you don't want overwritten. You also have to program in some JMP codes and such so it'll play correctly
Posted by Trinitronity
5.Does someone know, how I can convert FamiTracker files into NSF files? That also could be helpful...

There should be a "save to NSF" option in the File menu.

2. TBL files? palette addresses for each letter? I'm starting to get confused. Is changing text in MegaMan 3 really that complicated?
No, it really isn't that complicated. SMB3 is actually more difficult. I'm sending you a link for the Megaman 3 text table. Just copy all of that - except maybe the "invisible" and just use a lowercase r for "r.", paste it in a simple text editor and save it as .TBL file, and you have a .TBL file right there. A little word of warning, though. Do not make your text longer than what has been allotted for that text, unless you have a good grasp of pointers or something.
Posted by Trinitronity
5. Okay, I found it, but now, FamiTracker is asking me, whenever the NSF should NTCS, PAL, or Dual...what option should I choose?
NTCS, if it's a USA/Japan version, PAL if European. I don't know what Dual will do, though.

The name of the track is called "Wilderland." It's from the movie score of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. I already tried looking for the midi version of it. There doesn't appear to be one. If you happen to find one, kudos to you.

But it's not a big deal, really. My motivation for this project has died right now.
You actually renewed my interest in this kind of stuff. I'm hoping to find a midi of the title song of The Conduit (don't ask) and the Red Comet music from Super Mario Galaxy. I do have a score of the latter, but I can't easily read those note-for-note, and I don't know how to best translate some of the notes into NSF code.

Hey, what program did you use - besides any tile editors - to edit the title screen? I'd like to give Nintendo their due for the original game.

Just don't know how to do it without some form of ASM hacking. Might want to look into the ending.

Hello everyone. I've recently gotten back into a bit of Mega Man hacking and I'm thinking of starting a little project with Mega Man 6. So, I downloaded MegaFLE X and opened my MM6 rom and all of a sudden this annoying little error came up.

[ IMG]I'm not throwing this back up[/ IMG]

Any ideas or solutions on how to solve this?
Sounds like you're missing a Visual Basic 6.0 Common Control or two. Look for Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 Common Controls from a refutable source, and install it. Hope this helps.

ummm im not even sure how to record my own comp screen.

I can record videos of playing a game like through an emulator's own video recording stuff, but never have tried any actual computer screen recording, i dont even know how.

i once tried this program called "Xsplit" ...however it instantly gives me a Blue Screen of Death whenever i would open the program, saying that it was caused by the graphics card.

im on a laptop with stupid "integrated" graphics, so it probably happened just because i dont have a REAL video card
After that i immediately un-installed the program...

Someone on this board told me that nowadays Hypercam2 is the way to go.

This is getting into the ASM tutorial, but can I use Microsoft Visual Studio instead of what's in < a href="http://home.pacbell.net/michal_k/6502.html">pacbell.net? I have an assembler somewhere.
Tch, never mind. The address doesn't exist anymore.
