ROM hacking is a grey area as long as you don't try to get profit from it.
However, pacnsacdave DOES try to get profit from his hacks, and the franchises on which his hacks are based on don't belong to him either.
Thus, what he does is ILLEGAL, and I WILL report him, no matter what!

EDIT: Damn, I need to sign up in order to report it to the site itself!
Welp, looks like I really need to report to the FBI after all...

By the way, do you know how expensive is that uh... stuff that let's you put ROMs on a cartridge, how expensive the case is, how expensive is the printing? Do you know how much time is it to make a cartridge and other stuff? Do you really think he has that much profit from this?

I don't care. He's trying to gain money from a franchise that doesn't belong to him in the first place, and that's the thing that makes his actions illegal.

Okay, question:
Any chance of ever including an updated MMC5 version the NES Super Mario World, or do you not have enough ROM space for that anymore?

Also, is Super Mario Bros 3 (USA) (Rev A) the same thing like Super Mario Bros 3 (U) (PRG1)?

Not canon, but Comet Woman is the closest thing to a meteorite-based Robot Master you'll ever get.

So...there's a glitch happening in my hack that has to do with the teleporters in Wily Stage 4.
I only edited the enemy placement and level layout prior to the first teleporter, and I did not change the scrolling at all, yet if I enter the first teleporter, I get straight to NeedleMan instead of the teleporter that leads to the Boss Rush chamber.
And when I enter the final teleporter, I get send to GeminiMan instead of the Wily Castle map like it should, leading to an endless cycle that prevents me from actually completing it.
Why is this happening to me? And why cannot I change the second set of colors in GFX Set 3C?
I'm being desperate right now, so please help me.

So, the scrolling is still all the way down... But instead, it seems you have moved rooms. What are the Room IDs for each "Boss Room", "Teleport System" and "To W5"? If you don't want to make more work for yourself, you should revert any changes you made... Or you will have to change many and many values manually with a hex editor. It doesn't worth the time and trouble I think. The teleporters should be ID F and 11 to work correctly, elsewhere they will most likely malfunction or don't work at all. Somewhere you can change the teleporters behaviour, but for example I'm lazy to do stuff like that, so for example, I just placed unused enemies out-of-screen (last 1 TSA line) in my hack.

Room ID 1-6: Teleport to TSe (Teleporter must be Enemy ID [F] to teleport to Room ID 7)
Room ID 7: Teleport System entrance (TSe)
Room ID 8: Teleport System
Room ID 9: To W5 (Teleporter should be Enemy ID [11] to teleport to Wily 5 I think)
Room ID A: Needle Man
Room ID C: Magnet Man
Room ID E: Gemini Man
Room ID 10: Hard Man
Room ID 12: Top Man
Room ID 14: Snake Man
Room ID 16: Spark Man
Room ID 18: Shadow Man

In my hack for example, Room ID 1 skips to Room ID 7 instantly. Also, the Teleport System must be Room ID 8, but you should be able to change that somewhere manually.

Welp, now I see the problem: The Enemy IDs don't match. Sadly, I cannot change the Enemy ID of the Teleporters. However, I also don't want to remove any enemy in order to get back to the original Enemy IDs...what to do?

GFX Set 3A and after that are NOT GFX data, so revert any changes you have made to them. The last GFX set you can safely use is 39. I think.

Oh shit...is this still true for MegaMan 3 Improvement 2.1?

Hey guys, this is a small little thread I decided to make, where I try to uncover unused material in ROM hacks and share them with the world, kinda like The Cutting Room Floor.

I will update this first post whenever there is something new I have. I call it Episode 1 at first, because I fear posts may have letter limitations. This one concentrates on MegaMan/RockMan ROM hacks.

This is an interesting thread idea. I like it.
Most of my own hacks have unused material and secret messages.

For example, in Quick Bros. 2 (2008), there are only 5 worlds, and only 4 letters are accessible. However, that doesn't mean that there aren't still placeholder messages for the missing worlds!



Very interesting. Will add it in Episode 2, which will concentrate on hacks of SMB1, SMB2JP, SMB2US and SMB3.

Well, you've got a point there...
BTW, if I ever finish Togetic, then there most probably will be unused enemies as well.
Intro Stage Boss will be coded over HeatMan DocRobot (and act like the real HeatMan).
Doc Robot stages are still there, but each uses only one DocRobot replacement instead of two.
The boss of the BreakMan replacement stage will also be coded over a DocRobot.

With that, two DocRobots and all gameplay instances of ProtoMan/BreakMan end up being unused in my game...if I ever finish it, that is.

You know what would be an ambitious collaboration hack?
Porting any of the 3 CDs of Final Fantasy 7 into the N64!

That could also be the perfect way to celebrate Cloud being playable in Smash 4.

Well, it would be the first homebrew port of Board2.

Also, I think that N64 has got enough resources to at least make a slightly shorter Disc 1 possible.

The assets, at least, are definitely primitive enough for the N64 to handle.

You have yourself a deal, that will be your solo project only.
If you get this to work in project 64 without it glitching or freezing or crashing once during disc 1.
I'll give you 5 dollars in paypal, if you don't get it working and I'm quite sure it won't work...



I don't even know how to hack N64 games, let alone create homebrews.
