Not enough space, I would guess. And besides, Waluigi's emblem was always an upside-down L, so at least it's not out-of-the-blue.

Please no. I hate absolutely every single thing about the new Ghostbusters movie, and a game based around it would only make it WORSE!

I never thought I would say it, but...your idea is objectively bad...sorry...

And yeah, I see you are also labelling stuff, that makes stuff a lot easier too.

Wait, labelling? So there is a disassmbly out there? Because I know that Hex-Editor MX does not seem to support labelling.

Or you can just, you know, report him to the mods for harrasing. Because that's what he's doing right now.

Nope...at least it shouldn't.

I would like Bass to be in the game, but I need some good sprites for him. Bass would behave like he does in MM&B, multiple shooting in all directions, double jump, etc. Yeah the characters would have their own differences which make them unique.

Right now I'm more focused on programming Megaman himself. I have to get all of his movements down.

MegaMan 10 is your best friend, since that one has the definitive version of 8-Bit Bass, who already plays just like in MM&B (except he lacks a double jump, but that does not need new sprites anyway).

BTW, is the Homebrew gonna be open-source?

And if yes, could you then make a split disassembly version of that? That allows me to make ASM changes much easier than through pure hexcode injection into a ROM.

OMG I'm dying for Cuphead to get released, that game is gonna kick ass when it gets released.

I downloaded Gamemaker on Steam, I'm gonna give it a spin.

If it's Game Maker 8, then I can help you with certain things.
If it's Game Maker Studio, though, immidiately switch to Game Maker 8. Game Maker Studio is very prone to corrupting your project files, and when that happens, it's back to square 1, and That's nooooo good!

im in the same with you. i cant make my own music, and i dont have knowledge of how any of that stuff works, cause i never studied anything music related in school, in my childhood (never cared for it) so all those dozens of terms and words make no sense to me.

I could copy-paste songs from the other capcom music format (whatever games use them) Officially i've never done that a single time ever before, only sound effects.
-- it's still a very long process though ...have to change all the Jump pointers, the instrument numbers, insert any instruements other game's songs might be using ... it's long and grueling.

I dont know of any program in existence to ever help us with doing such stuff. I wish there would be 1 person out there in the world who was able to make a program to help with this stuff ...kind of like fami tracker (but fami tracker has it's own format ..so you cant just copy fami tracker files to the capcom music format freely.

This, but in combination with creating a split disassembly of MegaMan 3 (or even better, your MM3 improvement) and a MegaFLE X update that supports said split disassembly would be THE perfect tool kit for MM3 hack, I can tell you that much. That way, hacking MegaMan 3 would be as easy as hacking Sonic 1 and 2 on the MegaDrive. Come on, guys, it's time to finally move with the times instead of staying behind forever.

i just meant for music specifically.

Even then, a split disassembly would be better, because then you don't need to allocate pointers in order to accomodate for longer songs manually, the assembly would just easily do the job for you.
Seriously, there is literally no reason to not use a split disassembly.

Oooh, pretty.

What's the deal with the spooky area to the left of the starting area? There is something that looks like an NPC in the skull room in its centre, but I couldn't figure out how to interact with it so far.

Are you talking about the girl? If yes, then you need to collect all four card symbols first before you can interact with her. After that, drop on the car from above in order to complete the game.
At least, that would be the case in the original version...where there was no car, but the check for game completition was still there.

Nowadays it is easier to hack rom.

No, it's not. And you know why? Because there is STILL no split disassembly.

That may be true but today there are Emulators that comes with debuggers. FCEUX is the best tool to disassemble coding specific parts of a certain game. It's still easier than making a PC fan game using Game Maker, Multimedia Fusion II, etc.

But making a home-brew NES rom from scratch even if you're using companies IP you have to make your own game's 6502 assembly.

Yeah, but it's still much much easier for me to use actual ASM commands instead of their hex representation.
In fact, if you take a look at Sonic hacking (again), you see that before disassemblies came to be, the most the games did were art editing, palette editing and level layout editing.
But now that we got multiple disassemblies to choose from, not only did we finally got a proper way to do ASM edits, it was actually thanks to disassemblies that:
a) almost every bug that the developers left in were fixed
b) sound drivers could be ported from game to game
c) the game could be extended through multiple new characters (each with different abilities), new enemies, new zones (even an increase in zone count), new bosses, new everything
And most importantly, only thanks to disassemblies, Sonic hacks could finally become ambitious.
Suddenly, we see Sonic CD time travelling, Chaotix linking mechanics, Sonic Heroes team system, 2D recreations of Sonic Adventure and Rush moves, and of course it would be bad manners to not mention the technical marvel that is Sonic The Next Level.
All thanks to the magical power of disassemblies, the amount of such ambitious ROM hacks was able to not only appear, but also increase over time.
So yeah, if you guys want to see more MegaMan hacks to change more than just layouts, art, pallettes and maybe music and minor boss changes, and most importantly in bigger frequencies? Then disassemblies are the only option, because what the hacking scene needs is ways to make hacking easier and thus lure in new hackers.

Well damn, Capcom Music Editor refuses to open my MegaMan 3 Improvement hack "Togetic".
It gives me an "Invalid variant type conversion" error.
It would be really REALLY bad if CME is not compatible with anything MM3 Improvement related.
