Wow. How anyone could ever confuse something this terrible with a 1st-party prototype is beyond me...

Regardless, if you need more proof, the three-eyed "sun" in the ending sequence is the logo for whatever company made this atrocity, and appears in several other equally atrocious games (many of which contain a secret code that will display a full-screen version of it).

My first two posts disappeared when the first incarnation's database was hacked/crashed/whatever, so instead, I present my...*drumroll*...third post!

(wow, 6 months between my second and third posts...where did I spend all my time back then? )

I don't get it...most cellphone speakers aren't nearly high-fidelity enough to accurately reproduce things like this. Toss in the fact that they're MP3s, which are inherently lossy and noisy (especially at the filesizes/bitrates used by cellphones)...it doesn't seem like it should work.

I remember taking the frequency test on some website, using MP3 clips, and there was more background noise than actual tone (the highest-frequency clip actually sounded LOWER than the next-lowest one). I don't trust any test unless it uses raw tones fed through a professional-quality DAC to professional-quality headphones in a silent room...there are simply too many variables in a home environment.

Man, I had an awesome Hot Wheels freeway set way back when. It had this scary-looking mechanical arm thing that you would wind up, and when a car passed by and hit the trigger, the arm would swing around and violently smash into the back of the car, propelling it skyward around the track. Unfortunately, the trigger was rather fragile, and after a few days of use the arm malfunctioned and started spinning around like a helicopter blade when a car passed by! I don't think I ever used it again after that happened.

The best part of that set was the little "Pullet Surprise" chicken farm...you'd wind it up, and a little plastic chicken would wander back and forth across the road! I don't remember if the goal was to run over the chicken or avoid it, though.

NO, DON'T USE WD-40!

Use motor oil.

Uh, hi, I'm not an idiot.

I use only the finest Crisco. I can tell when my CPU is overheating by the delightful, buttery aroma!

Win2K + stretched icons = yuck. (hi Hiryuu)

Left to right: Unplug or Eject Hardware, volume, network activity, CachemanXP showing free RAM, hp deskjet 5650 (remind me to remove that one of these days), ATI Tray Tools (replaces ATI's bloated control panel), Skype, Speedfan showing CPU temperature, clock.

Aside from the utterly useless printer icon, I like to keep my system tray and background processes as clean as possible, using good ol' Regedit and my own common sense.

Aw, man, it IS the 13th. No wonder my move isn't going as swimmingly as I had hoped.

(those errors on ZD used to make me so mad sometimes...the idiot-friendly way most of them were worded made it sound like the server just didn't feel like doing anything )

I keep my ports closed, don't run suspicious executables, keep my startup programs clean, and use Firefox.

I have Ad-Aware SE and the DOS version of F-Prot installed, but they're rarely used.

Here's better advice: Move out.
Amen.

Last night was my first official night in my new apartment. I was up until 6:30AM in nothing but my underwear.

(too bad I had to work today )
