If you read "first hack" then it's born from disaster.

To summarize, its just has the original stage with a few cut-out platforms with some palettes edited (Flashman stage has bad choice of colour).
But Megaman has a higher jump and shoot multiple shots and colored him like Batman.

As anyone would expect for a "first hack", nothing spectacular. Anyways, put a lot of effort next time. I'm sure you can do better than this.

If you're making this a Protoman title, you could consider a lot of things (IMO only though)

-Replace Megaman's appearences with Protoman. That is, the opening & ending cut scenes.

-You have Protoman's standing pose that doesn't have a shield, but shooting pose does.

-If Protoman has a shield, it should have a use in the game; by standards a useful shiled not for show only. Unless you remove the shield, problem solved.

-Replace Megaman's name to Protoman on the text scenes.

-Replace Rush with items based on MM9/10 where Protoman is playable.

Before you add new tiles, you should first use blank tiles available on a given scene. The Get Weapon scene has a few usable blank tiles. Do not use or overwrite existing game tiles so you will not get that garbled pic.

If you are planning to replace Mega Man with Doropie on the Get Weapon scene, I suggest you shrink Doropie down so that she would fit. (She has a big witch hat which is troublesome). The part where Mega Man spins 180 degrees, if you do not like to edit the whole spin, try getting to use only the facing-front pic; it will save you tons of tiles to use. You can to that with Matrixz's CSA.

00 0F 10 11 & 00 0F 16 2C -> Small MM Warp (Exploding Wily's Castle 4, Ending)
00 0F 2C 11 -> MM without Helmet (Train, Ending) (MegaFLE X's Palette Editor not support MM without Helmet on Train, Ending)


Note: This is from Rockman 4 not MMIV as I am currently working on the JP version, I don't know if they are the same,

*Offset of hex values of color of small teleporting MM is at Offset 36890
Around there find the hexadecimal 2nd row/4th palette set is MM small teleporting color

*No helmet MM train ride Offset 369B5, use FCEUX PPU viewer to find hex values.

You may be able to switch palette assignments w/ CSA but no change color w/ it.
Change colors using hex editor.

@Insectduel: Megaman's sprite in the menu has a limited tile size that I can't even figure out how to add more tiles in or edit it with CSA.

If you could grab a screenshot of its PPU Viewer maybe I could remember some things that I did with my Rollchan 4.

Btw, I managed to insert Tango without the glitches you're experiencing.

@Insectduel: GJ! I always want to have Roll's hair in yellow... You managed to get more tiles?

EDIT: Btw, there is an in-game bug when you equip Rush Marine around places with water, the buster shots does not align with the arm cannon. Is this fixable?

@Korxroa: Do you still have the player-only sprite of Doropie? Maybe you should save that before making a level edit hack of Doropie.

EDIT: I'm almost finish with Rollchan 4, I want to change the helmet with a different image, but the the titlescreen for the JP version is uneditable with Mega FLE X. Is there a way around it?

Sorry but I have trouble comprehending your message, regardig the issues you have. I don't think I can help you further.

Anyways, in the Graphics Load Editor, have you tried the button that states "Load as current level graphics"? When used together with the option "Primary Gfx Load (Chosen ID)", you can load the graphics Id that you want, independently of automatically loaded graphics. The effect is temporary, but still useful in some cases.

Somebody tried that months ago. Seems to me Puresabe is planning an 'English' not 'Engrish' in the next update, I guess.

In commemoration of Mega Man's 27th Anniversary and beyond!

Zynk Oxhyde previously released ROLL-CHAN! Roll-chan is a player sprite hack which replaces Mega Man with his sister Roll. Today Zynk releases three new player sprite hacks:
*ROLL-CHAN 2;
*ROLL-CHAN 3; and
*ROLL-CHAN 4.

Continue the super robot girl's adventure in saving the world against the evil Dr. Wily, the mad scientist who made his own army of Robot Masters for his world domination.

Along her journey, Roll has been given new powers by her father-figure/creator, Dr. Light. However, the battle against Dr. Wily has been heightened, with that in mind, Dr. Light has created support units to aid Roll. Items were changed to make them more familiarized to her, and most importantly a pet robot sidekick has been added! Like Mega Man, Rush, the faithful pet robot pooch is also replaced with the Light family's pet robot cat, Tango the playful spin-balling cat in the Gameboy days, now making its action-filled debut in the battlegrounds!

I would prefer the weapon toggles used on only one button, like pressing only SELECT since that button isn't used during gameplay. But that's just me.

Hey guys! Do you guys know how to switch the palette of the Robot Masters' HP meter from 3rd to 4th palette?

3rd palette=encircled in red
4th palette=encircled in blue


For example, Skullman has white & red, I want to change it to match his body color to white & gray.


Another is for Stoneman. I changed his chect gem to green to match the official art depicting Stoneman with a green gem instead of red. However, it affected his HP meter.

Megaman games takes the 3rd palette for Robot Masters' HP, would it be better if their HP matches their body color (4th palette)?

As I hack Rockman 5 to Roll-chan with CSA, I found the throwing sprite still intact. Is it possible to reuse that sprite? I guess it supposed to have been used for Power Stone & Gravity Hold.

Also, Rockman 5 doesn't have air bubbles when the player is underwater, is it possible to make those air bubbles appear again?

My Hack is Finished.... but... someone could create for me this:



add only Hero Mode and Hacked - D.M, Oh... 2015 in date.

I'm testing the game and the release date is for 01-31 if I can solve the title screen.
How hard is it to edit the titlescreen by yourself? The titlescreen for Rockman 2 is not compressed; the texts can be easily be added by using a hex editor. Try WindHex32.
