It's no longer a beta version, they've released it as an official build now. They also changed the skin quite a bit, though I think it looks better (for the most part).

I see you've not done your homework.

Steel type moves are super effective on Rock and Ice types.
Steel moves are terrible against water, fire, electric and steel.

So Steel > Rock.
Argue all you like, but it's true.
Oh, I was going by Xeruss' chart, but I guess his chart is wrong. Oh well.

Since when do starters have attacks that can do devastating damage on their first fight? Tackle, Growl, Leer or in Turtwig's case Withdraw... yeah not seeing any major type advantages there. Later in the game it becomes more of a Rock Paper Scissors thing.
That's true, the type [dis]advantages usually don't come into play until after the first gym, and even then it's usually not a big thing until you're about 3-4 gyms in (all of this in reference to the rival).

I wouldn't advise Machop or Geodude for starters, unless there's going to be a way to get trade-only evolutions without trading.
I'm pretty sure Kawa said he would make a way to get trade-only evolutions from other means.

Unless Pikachu has ONLY electric attacks then it doesn't matter (I never use my starter poke against the rival's starter anyway, I switch out for one that's super effective against or resistant to his).
