No, the joint-detach is effectively deprecated, you can simply use the "Detach" event to achieve the same effect with less parts, which can be crucial in bosses where you have lots of parts and get close to the limit.

Things to be implemented in next version: (note: basing off google-translate, so it might not be quite exactly like this)
- New "Parameter"/event to change the sound-effect of an enemy weapon - Bug related to head core "flash" fixed (???) - "Plate line [589] fixed." - "Fixed a bug that caused an error when trying to add a template" - Bug related to "setting an axis" in the editor fixed - Added a "chore"(???) window to the editor (rarely-used options go here (I think?) (???)) - Configuration of *.fed files changed (not sure what exactly he means there, I guess .fed files work/look differently now if you open them in notepad/etc):
- The editor plays sound effects now - Target arrow/markers (red or yellow) can be set that will point to the event'd part(s) if it goes offscreen; also:
