Because it's more fun this way.

Seems right, but I would've expected to be more over towards the communism side, oh well.

I would've worn the jacket once this year if we didn't live in a fucking desert. Seriously, there's no point when the temperature never drops below 50.

It just finally hit 45 round here so we're all running around in shorts and tees. Feels great. Was under 0 for a week with -15 to -30 windchill, enjoy warm weather, I miss it.

So, maybe I'm crazy, but I'm sending ND up against Wash St. in the final for the win. Probably won't happen but I dream big, and if it goes through I'm winning this thing straight up. I heard some people saying that Ohio State won't make it through their division, but I really can't find a team there that will match up with them. It should be a good tourney.

First off, if you haven't seen this movie yet you should go out and rent/download it now. So for y'all that have seen it I'm curious to see what you think of this movie. I think that it's one of the greatest movies I've seen in a long time. I found the whole plot to be completely enthralling and the acting was superb. One of the few suspense movies I've seen that have kept me hooked for the entire film. Curious to know how many of you were able to figure it out because I know that for the last 45 minutes I was coming up with a new answer to the whole story every 5 minutes.

Not much really happened last episode except for the car and Kate heading off to find that lady which we now know is Ben's Wife. I have to say that the most interesting part of the episode was the coming for next week. I want to see whats up with that guy they saw on a T.V. screen in the Pearl.

How do we know that Danielle is Ben's wife. I was under the impression that Alex was taken from her (but then again, she's a little more nutso than most people on these islands so maybe she forgot that Ben was her man).

Anyways, the last episode was great, reaffirming the fact that Sayid is a complete badass. And what's with Locke just playing chess while Sayid is battling with Mikhail. I mean, they weren't completely quiet and Locke shows up after the fights over. And if I were Locke I never would've hit 77, I mean, that message was obviously the "do you want to blow up this place" message.

As for Jack being out of character, he was drunk (and we all know what happens when we get drunk) and he was probably going nuts over the fact that she wouldn't tell him a damn thing about her.

One final note, Jesus (um, I mean Desmond) is awesome. I know his episode did absolutely nothing to really advance the story, but hell, it was damn entertaining.

I think the term "Theme" represents intense scenes. Some movies have ratings that are described as "strong thematic elements." I'm trying to think of a good situation that doesn't involve violence, but all I can think of are things like torture scenes. Those are a little bit more than just violence, because violence typically just relates to blood a gore, whereas a torture involves situations that are more malicious and cold hearted. I do agree though that it's entertaining to see R ratings that have descriptors like "Adult Themes." No shit, if it's R it's for adults and not kids so it better have "Adult Themes."

Well, I wouldn't say that there aren't other films that jump around in terms of time, you've got Momento and Pulp Fiction just to name a few. Anyways, back onto the subject at hand

Spoiler:
I agree, the cloning device is a little far fetched (okay, impossible, anybody who knows anything about physics should know that you don't create something out of nothing. It would've been more believable if it really just teleported him) but it really isn't about the believability of the device and more about how Angers uses the device. Borden is completely dedicated to his art and maybe playing his wife and mistress like he did was wrong but not quite on the level of wrong that Angers is at when he is killing all his clones.

Who do you have beating them, Memphis, Louisville, Tennessee? I don't know, they may be young but Ohio State is a good team this year, I just can't see those teams beating them. Anyways, it would be very humorous to see a Florida Ohio State rematch, especially if it ended 41-14 (which is exactly the score I would've picked if I had them going up against eachother in the championship).

The thing I don't get about ratings, especially game ratings, is that people seem suprised at the content in games. The game will have an M rating for excessive violence and parents will be shocked when there child is popping zombies heads off with a shotty. I mean, what did you expect. Ah, whatever, I guess it just irks me how people in the government are always talking about saving the children when in reality the rating systems work well enough for parents to understand what is in a film/game/album. I mean, if you think your child is mature enough to handle a film with gross amounts of violence then that's your choice, but don't come bitchin' to me about it when that kid's having nightmares because you fucked up.

Spoiler:
Judging from Cutter's description of drowning I'd say that Angers choice was deplorable. Basically, it's about the ethics of cloning and whether or not that clone is a part of you to which you may dispose of it as you wish or whether that clone is a completely different person. The way I see it, the two Angers are the exact same person until they split. So when they split their entire past conciousness is copied to each one. The one who reappears at the top of the amphitheatre is under the impression that he has teleported while the one who falls into the water feels as if he has just fallen. Now when he goes to do the trick again, the one who was copied onto the upper balcony is now going to die while a new copy will be made to appear up above. In essence, Angers is first handly killing his clones where the death of Borden's wife was unintentional. Maybe Borden could have seen it coming but he wasn't premeditatively killing whereas Angers was.

This is entertaining to see entire posts in complete spoiler tags, maybe we should just have the topic renamed so we don't have to constantly put these tags on.

Spoiler:
The way I see it is that each clone dies when it tries to perform the trick. Basically, the first person to die was Angers, then when the trick was done again it was his first clone that died as the second clone was created up on the balcony. The thing is that the conciousness of this clone was identical to the one that dies up until the copy occurs. So the Angers that is alive at the end feels as if he's been safe everytime though he still has the fear that he won't be.

Fuck! That's about all I can say to NDs play today. It was crap. Apart from losing my champion of the tournament, I got through the first round without losing any other team that I had winning a 2nd round game.

I second that, taking classes like woodshop, auto shop, cullinary, et al are great courses to take and I really regret not having taken auto shop when I was in school. They teach you tangible things that you'll always be able to use.

Anyways, to the subject at hand, most enjoyable to least enjoyable (of all the courses I've taken)

1. Electric and Hybrid Vehicles ~ Basically exactly what I want to be doing for my career.
2. Electric Machines and Power Systems ~ Learning about how power is generated, transported and delivered to homes, as well as engines for my hybrids.
3. Philosophy - Economic, Racial and Sexual Inequalities ~ I love discussing issues and I don't get to much time to do so with my technical courses.
4. 17th Century British Civil War History ~ One of the most entertaining teachers ever, a born and raised Londoner.
5. Advanced Electromagnetism ~ Quite possibly the smartest person I'll ever meet. The degree to which he understood, as well as was able to impart his knowledge of electromagnetism was astounding. He recently gave a presentation defending a paper he wrote overturning a 15 year old theory therefore overturning 15 years of theoretical papers.
6. Modern Physics ~ Entertaining stuff, not to heavy on the math but conceptually intensive.
7. Theology - Why God Became Human ~ Really made me question my faith but I ended up stronger and better because of it.
8. Advanced Electronic Design ~ Learning how to do all sorts of amplifications and filtering, hopefully I'll start making my own stuff after a summer designing and fabricating controlers and audio systems for cars.
9. Economics Seminar - Global Issues / 3rd World Development ~ Similar to the previous Philosophy but on a much larger scale.
10. Advanced Signals and Systems ~ Theory behind filtering and DSP, interesting to know but probably won't use it too much.
11. Intro to Electronic Design ~ Good foundatoin required for anyone who wants to be a EE
12. Advanced Circuit Design ~ Another required course for EEs
13. Intro to Electrical Engineering ~ Obviously a required course.
14. Intro to Philosophy ~ Discussions on how to prove the existance of God, one's self, and the world. Quite a mental excersize.
15. British Culture, Music and Theatre ~ Basically watched TV, went to shows and concerts, great time.
16. Physics - Mechanics ~ I enjoy physics and it comes prettyeasy to me.
17. Physics - E/M ~ Same as above.
18. C/C++ Programming ~ Boring class, very very basic programming (I lost interest in programming after High School).
19. Intro to Engineering - Electrical and Mechanical ~ Helped me decide on EE.
20. Intro to Engineering - Chemical, Civil and Computer Sciences ~ Helped me decide against CSE.
21. Intro to Signals and Systems ~ Poorly taught course, didn't really learn anything.
22. Logic / Intro to Computer Architecture ~ Definitely not a fan of computer logic theory or architecture.
23. Intro to Bio-Chemistry ~ Required course, some interesting things but not my particular field of choice.
24. Writing Seminar ~ Writing's not my thing, another required course.
25. Intro to Christian Theology ~ Boring class, easy A though.
26. Intro to Chemistry ~ Dislike chemistry with a passion.
27. Single Variable Calculus ~ Math, blech, at least I can walk through it without thinking because it's essentially physics.
28. Multi-Variable Calculus ~ Same as above.
29. Differential Equations ~ Slightly easier than Linear Algebra, but definitely a hard course.
30. Linear Algebra ~ Quite possibly the most abstract course I've ever taken, suffice it to say, I got hammered by it.

One knows that something is wrong when one is learning more calculus in physics than in calculus. My physics teacher is awesome since he wrote his own text and problem books. And no pesky homework. But most of all, because his lectures are awesome.
Or, you know you've got a great math teacher when she realizes that calculus is physics so she makes sure to relate the two. Basically, Physics is Calculus except that in calculus you don't need to know that it relates to something real.
Posted by SamuraiX
That's a lot of engineering you have there. But are differential equations and linear algebra that bad?
Actually, I'd say that's pretty standard for most of the engineers I know. I don't really enjoy math classes (I know, totally backwards for an engineer, I'm good at it but that doesn't mean I like it. I do enjoy applied science aka engineering) and Linear and Diffentials were the only two maths I've taken that I actually had to really study for. Differentials was at least a usefull skill set to know, linear was way to abstract for the applications I'm doing.

And if you want to see even more engineering, here's my senior schedule.
1. Senior Design (hopefully working on an EV race car or something) Both Semesters
2. Private Study (i.e. one teacher, less than five students, subject of choice) - Advanced Hybrid and Electric Motor Design Both Semesters
3. Communication Systems
4. Probability and Statistics
5. Semiconductor Design and Fabrication
6. Digital Signal Processing
7. Control Systems
8. Not sure about this last course, maybe I'll end my senior year with only 4 classes, maybe I'll take a mechanics course, not sure yet. I'll probably take mechanics though so I can go to Grad School and get an MSME to go along with my BSEE.

One of the better iD avatars I've found, probably through a google search. A really great character from one of my favorite rpgs, Xenogears.

Great show, very entertaining. And Ari is the greatest character on Television, Movies, or Stage ever.

"Hey Turtle, smoke more weed. No, seriously, smoke more."

And I kinda wish that the Perfect 10 Model stayed in more of the episode, way to go E.

Finals in four of my classes and one last paper.

+Hybrid Vehicles wasn't too bad, hopefully the score distribution will put me past the std. dev. and I'll pull out an A- in the class.
+Power Systems is on wednesday and I need an A on the final to pull an A in one of my most important classes.
+Electronics is on thursday, should be able to get a B on the final and a B/B+ in the class.
+Signals is on friday and I need an A to not get a B- or above in the class or my debt will increase significantly and I might lose my internship.
+Philosophy paper due on friday, I've gotten A's on the first two papers so I shouldn't be in much trouble.

I have no motivation to work, I'm too excited about next year even though these finals are probably the most important of all my college career.

iBook G4, bought last year right before the new MacBooks came out.

My other computer was bought through iBuyPower.com and it has an Abit mother board, 3.4gHz P4, 256 video card, 128 sound card and was running fine till I failed at installing a new network card (due to a busted onboard LAN connection). Should be able to fix it up when I get paid over the summer. All in all, a great purchase.
