Poor little thread. This is its third home ^^;; Since *somebody* went and archived this roleplay on the previous thread, we were obliged to recommence here. Here's the original thread: [url]http://board.acmlm.org/archive3/thread.php?id=9184&page=0 Currently we have exactly two (2) people participating, and it's fun and all but that's... not a lot of brainpower. So if it looks at all interesting, please join!! ^^

For new people, here's a quick summary of what you missed:

Daikirai: "There has been so much hatred in this world that they felt it would be for the best if they chose someone to be the vessel of all the hatred in the world. So as a young child of 2 they took me and made my soul the conduit for all of the hatred in the world. As well as the other "negative" emotions. I feel the pain of humanity. And this seal . . This seal it cannot be undone by common people. It was made by the most powerful priests of this time, they died creating it. Also if you break it, my dark powers will flow and there will be no stopping them. I will turn into a monster, it is better if you don't attempt to break the seal."

The youth Daikirai lives in a theocratic nation where high priests control every aspect of the people's lives. His opposite is a young woman named Suki; she bears the sister seal to Daikirai's meant to enhance the powers of the "good" feelings of humanity, which have been fused with her soul. Following an attack by Suki and the forces of the Church, he retreated with the Genkimetsu, a radical liberation group, along with Kaede, a healer whose home was destroyed and family put into debtors' prison not long ago.

Before long the Genkimetsu showed its true colors and abandonned Daikirai, and Suki found him half-dead following an attack by the "monster" sealed within him, and Kaede wounded from her efforts to save him. She nursed them both back to health and the three set out again, having broken from their previous alliances and travelling as a neutral party.

They stopped at a town at length and spied Shumo, a brother figure to Daikirai while aligned with the Genkimetsu, and set after him in hot pursuit. Consumed by his rage, Daikirai thrust a fist through Shumo's abdomen, with every intention to kill him.

Edit: No double posting for 24 hours, eh? Ok then...

==============================================

((BTW, my character is Kaede. Cut & paste from the old thread... "Kaede, a girl not quite 17, had flowing lavender hair bound loosely below the nape of her neck. Her eyes were a soft brown and set in a fair, youthful face. They had a knack for comforting troubled hearts; a good quality for a healer to possess." She recently finished her apprenticeship as a healer, only to disover her family's fate upon returning to her charred shell of a home. Anyway, onward!))

Time seemed to halt as Daikirai's fist impaled Shumo's abdomen. Kaede heard the mingled cries of blinding rage and death throes as if they echoed toward her as if from the end of a tunnel. A curious thought crossed her mind in the midst of confusion, as she found in her mind an oasis of calm. Was the Genkimetsu heartless from the beginning, or have the atrocities committed in their noble attempts to liberate the nation from the Church's iron fist corrupted them?, she thought. Shumo was closer than a brother in blood...[/]

An eternity later, Shumo's body fell several feet back on the rooftop. Still clear-headed as ever for reasons Kaede could only guess, she swiftly took off after him and knelt by his side. Depsite the fact that he was their enemy, she seemed unable to control herself. She put a hand over his beating heart. He was still very much alive, and he whimpered something inaudible.

"Daikirai. In your rage you chose your target poorly. None of his vital organs were touched. Abdominal wounds are in fact, one of the easiest to recover from, but not one of this magnitude. In fact, I'd have never believed it if I wasn't right here, seeing him alive with my own eyes. He's extremely strong." She looked up at him, with eyes clear as oiled glass. "It's within my power to save him. Now, think: Are you sure you want to let him die?" She quickly added, "Could he be of any use to us?"

Kaede nodded and set to work. She made the healers' traditional concentration sign-- middle and forefingers touched to the temples-- and a stream of blue light flowed from her hands to Shumo's abdomen. The mangled flesh was quickly woven back together and restored till naught but a healthy layer of skin showed.

Kaede, slightly dizzy from the exertion, admired her handiwork. Teacher would be proud, she thought, a grin sidlng across her face. She looked into the face of the man she had just saved. His expression was simultaneously furious from his apprehension by Daikirai and more than a little disturbed from his near-death experience as he recovered from shock. He looked at her like a man who had just been resurrected. "You're welcome," she added. She noted the gaping, bloody hole in his jacket as he stood and touched his repaired flesh as if to assure himself he wasn't dreaming. It was weak as a child's; it would take considerable effort to regain his fomer muscle tone.

"Begone, then. And you can be thankful we showed you mercy." Her firm tone belied her merciful nature, but perhaps Daikirai's indifference to suffering had begun to rub off on the gentle practitioner of the white arts as well.

Kaede said her thanks and handed Suki a few coins to cover her share of the room and board, and opened the door to her room. It was small, but comfortable.

She produced a spellbook from her pocket and opened it to the chapter on Practical Magics. Though healing was her specialty, she knew the importance of being able to use at least a little magic for practical applications. With a white pencil she wrote the rune for "vision" on a small handmirror and recited an incantation, transforming it into a scrying lens to monitor the inn for enemies. "This ought to keep us safe... safer, rather."

Satisfied, Kaede lay the lens on the table beside her and stretched out on the bed. She soon drifted into a light sleep.

A handul of stars that seemed to dance on the carpet of the sky. Bluish clouds drifting by the moon. As the dark haze moved to allow the moon to shine, she noticed the motion below. She was floating above... above a small army, she realized... the lights flickering in the distance, yes, that was probably a town... She even recognized the gates, she had passed through them only hours ago...

The army. She descended with the speed of a hawk for a better look. There was no mistaking the golden crosses stitched on the multitude of dark uniforms that winked at her from below like a starfield, almost as if the earth and sky had switched places.
Blackguards... of the Church? Adrenaline shot through her like an arrow through the heart. She was freefalling through the sky, through the troops, through the earth--

She awoke with a start and scrambled for the scrying lens, her palms so sweaty she had difficulty holding onto it. "Oh, thank the gods--" Only the exterior of the sleepy inn showed through her magical third eye. "A--dream? No, I can't afford to take any chances," she thought, and hastened out of her room, rapping on Daikirai's and Suki's doors with urgency.

"That was certainly an... inconvenience... but in the event I had an actual premonition, it's possible we just saved our lives. Shame we had to miss supper, though," Kaede said with mock rue. "Seriously, though, I hope the town fares well... I couldn't sleep knowing I caused a town full of innocent people to be seiged by the Church's knights."

Frowning, she continued. "We'll just have to be more careful where we sleep from now on. We can't risk endangering ourselves or anyone else. Somehow, they managed to find our location, even though we travelled by, um... via Daikirai's blood seals. I wouldn't be surprised if someone had sold us out." Addressing Suki, Kaede finally said what she was sure all three had been contemplating. "Where do we go from here?"
