actually I'm not reall[y into pirating movies, but I have more than enough roms/mp3s to get fined over a billion dollars (or in my case, probably a life in jail, as I'll never afford the fines)

actually, the whole thing started because someone who spent the night decided to watch porn for 10 hours while I was sleeping/not paying attention. See, for some reason the cable company got alerted (probably because that is well over a legal surplus -- and both me and the friend who did it are underage -- I swear I didn't do it though -- 10 hours! Jesus H. Christ thats a lot -- and thats just how long it took him to download...)

I don't really give much weight to that, but I frequent a lot of warez/keygen sites, download MP3s and roms and programs like photoshop. I downloaded a movie once, but the video didn't work at all and it was in german.

Now I don't do these things all the time, but I certainly don't want to be caught with them.

I'm thinking I should just test the waters the easy way and code an app that opens up firefoxand searches for porn on google. That way, if my parents get a call again, I know they're still watching. Although I'd probably get in a mess of trouble this time...

the main resdon this is my concern is because many of the warez sites out there also have porn pics/movies/links on them. Hey, I have my sources that don't give me viruses or spyware, I intend to keep using them.

when my friend did it, it wasn't fun explaining things, especially SOME of that stuff... ehh...

anyway how anonymous do these tools make me?

I also just think I have the right to some privacy. Just because my friend did something weired, doesn't mean I should lose my privacy privileges...

You broke the first rule of doing anything illegal, never confirm or deny doing anything illegal to anyone but a lawyer.

And there is no illegal amount of porn, you can look at as much porn as you possibly want and not have to worry about anything (in the united states). The only time you would get in trouble is if you where looking at underage porn.

On a side note, any friend who sleeps over just to look at porn for 10 hours is not a very good friend.

If you know everything about defines, an error like this usually sticks out like a sore thumb.

I had thought about suggesting colored thread titles before, but then I came to the reality of it being abused or over used and having rainbow colored pages.

I'm thinking if I could go back in time, I would go to the 1969 Woodstock. And as for why, well I think we all know why :-).

...Compaq...Windows XP...
Bold = problem, windows doesn't help either.

Compaq used to make good computers....now they have taken the same route as there competitors and substituted good parts with faulty memory, power supplies, and hard drives.

I rarely have any problems with Windows XP. You should have seen the days when I had to use Windows 98....it was a fucking nightmare. Every time I would try to listen to music and dial up, I would get some OE Fatal Exception and then my screen would go completely black and I'd have to restart. And then there was this stupid exploit that Microsoft forgot to prevent involving C:\con\con.

If Windows XP is constantly giving you blue screens then you must have hardware issues (bad ram, failing hard drive, failing power supply, failing fan), or software issues (adware/spyware, bad drivers, ATI DRIVERS!!).

Dell, Compaq, and Gateway are all using cheap RAM, power supplies and hard drives. Cheap RAM is more likely to have weird issues, cheap power supplies can cause power fluxations that make everything else behave strangely, and the final killer is the cheap hard drives which have higher failure rates and can also result in instability.

I had a box fan I used to put in my window...and I had the same problem as you. Eventually I went out and bought a portable air conditioner for my room....although they are expensive, its worth more then having to suffer being hot all the time.

Nebraska sucks for heating/cooling, we have scorching humid summers in the 90's/100's and freezing cold winters in the 0's and negatives.

And now that i have to pay for heating and cooling it sucks a lot more.

Oh well

It's 88 degrees out right now!! WHAT THE HELL!!

Arctic Silver 5, just use a dot in the center and spread it out over the chip, but make sure you have all of the old thermal compound removed.

There's still the option to kindly ask an administrator to reset one's password. In the case of Legoman, the horrible English would have swept away any potential doubt about the authenticity of person.

I don't think he knows english very well, and he seems to be showing some symptoms of dyslexia.

Man if your computer is such junk, just ask around for anyone who has an old computer that they aren't using anymore or throwing out. I just recently got a 1.1 Ghz Athlon, 35 GB Hard Drive, 256 MB of RAM, and a 64 MB GeForce 2 that someone was throwing away. What can I say, the computer is old, but it's still very useful in my book. Last year I got a 900 Mhz Pentium III machine that had this cool Composite In card and a DVD-ROM. Basically just ask around, im sure someone is throwing a computer out, someone is always throwing useful things.

If you really get desperate, go dumpster diving at apartment complexes, I've found computers in there before.

Windows 2000 is the best Microsoft OS ever, hands-down. It's essentially Windows XP without all the user-friendly bloat tacked on.

Well at least with XP the user-friendly bloat is optional... Vista they practically shove it down your throat with no way to disable it.

As for 2000, its a great OS, but I'm obsessive compulsive and I don't like the fact that the tray icons can't be displayed in 32-bit color. You can patch it to use 256-color icons, but it still doesn't look right.

XP is not just slow, it is a blue-screen ridden virus so awful it doesn't even belong in the same multiverse as the word "garbage".

Sounds like you had XP, never used Windows Updates and went to a bunch of cheat code sites that have adware installers on every page. You probelly clicked Yes on every ActiveX installer too...lol. I've only had Windows XP blue screen or act slow because of hardware problems.

I saw a video of something identical to this about a year ago and it certainly wasn't made by Microsoft. Once again they have come in and bought innovation instead of creating it.... thus proving once again that Microsoft couldn't come up with an original idea even if it conked them in the head.

I didn't always hate Microsoft... until I realized they love to steal ideas, buy out innovation and stomp on there competition with unfair business practices.
