Hey! I new here. I've got some questions mostly about hacking mega man 4.
I started remaking mega man 4 endless hack to make it more challenging and better. For now i have no problems with changing graphic and everything end here. So I have questions (i use Mega FLE X editor for mega man 4) :

1) Mostly i have problem with scrolling rooms. Sometimes if i take room to scroll up it will scroll right. If i put down it will scroll right etc. I'll show it in youtube but in other topic because i'm going to show what i'm doing

2) I would also to know if it is possible to copy some data from other nes megaman. I want to make in my hack those things:
- force beams (like in quick man stage )
- 1 weapon ( crash bomber if i say correctly )
- 1 robot master ( i saw one in rockman 4 mi hack but i supose it must be realy hard )

3) Is it possible to put into rom custom music. I have some in nsf format and i read that it is probably possible but i don't know how to do that.

1) In your Mega FLE X editor, the scroll editor is located at the right side where it says Scroll Map Position. Change them!

2) You need to learn 6502 NES ASM if you want these things in your game! That includes your FCEUX Emulator that uses 6502 ASM debugging feature.

3) You have music in .NSF format? Then you should learn how NES instrumental sound channels here. That's if you want music in your Mega Man IV rom. The .NSF rom file normally starts the sound channels at offset x80.


1) I had picked correctly Scroll map position but still it doesn't work fine

2) Do you mean something like this: http://neshla.sourceforge.net/ Is it possibly to copy piece of megaman 2 hex code into megaman 4 hex code or is it harder. Is it any other tutorial like this one

3) So everything is based on copying codes from . nsf into .nes file or i have to use some programs

I've got some questions about Mega Man 4 hacking:
1. I would like to know how to delete effect of rain in toad man stage and make that Mega man would not go behind background (normaly he comes behind rain but i want to make that he wouldn't go behind because i've changed background).
2. I've changed sprites of ring boomerang into magic card from MM&B but i want to know how to do that cards would go up like in MM&B (i've seen on Rockman 4 M that ring can be shoot in any direction)
3. How to change text in boss screen and weapon screen
4. If i make boss again (i mean i want to make refight with him) what number in hex code i should change

Ok here's small update of my hack. I've done Toad Man level. Here's video:



Also i decided to relase small demo of that what i had actualy done. This demo has got some bugs (mostly about Mid Point appearing and some graphical). I've compressed this hack into IPS file so you'll need Lunar IPS to apply it into rom. Mega Man 4 - Project Peace (June 2011)

Some new questions:
1. How to make that it will be eight rooms and in everyone will be diffrent boss refight (i mean how to make wily stage 3 working same as wily stage in MM&B that you're fighting with bosses but there's no teleports). For now i can only make 2 fights - after second screen don't want to scroll and boss is same - drill man.

2. Is it hard to edit assembling blocks. I want to make my own piece of map where you have to jump throught them.

3. What pieces of hex code ar about boss battle. I mean i would like to copy hex code of for ex. fire man from MM1 or gemini man from MM3 and make that it will work on MM4. If it's possible will it work with weapons.

4. Where in hex code are abbitles of weapons. For ex. i want to make that drill will fly longer before it blow up or ring would stay longer in one place.

I thinking about is it possible to change ring boomerang into metal blade. I mean is there any hex values that are possibly to change to do that ring will behave like metal blade from MM2. I've seen on one thread that shadow blade from MM3 could be change into metal blade from MM2 by changing some atributes in hex code and by using Tile Layer Pro. I want to know where are abbitles of ring bomerang in hex code like distance, number of shoots that are avaible, direction of shoot etc.

I think that values would be useful and i could check them. But I want to ask you how it works with boss refights i mean how to change with wich robot maset you fight. I've done in Wily Castle 3 level a couple of robot masters with diffrent sprites but everyone of it acts like drill man. I also tried to do it at Wily Castle 1 but it was same.
You said previously something about ASM hacking if i want to do for ex. force beams. Is it any tutorial (or/and program) for it.

PS: I realised that maybe it would be eaiser to change pharaoh shooter into metal blade. It will be just only about delete possibility of charge shoot and change number of shoots that could appear on screen.
I figured out that cossack third boss don't want to work at wily stage 1 and there's limit of enemies in one level. How about it?

I want to know if it is possible to make that before everyone battle will be show sing warning like in Mega Man Forever. I know that i had to make in tile layer pro that sign but how to make that for ex. unused enemy 22 will act that i'll be able to see sign.
And is editing assembling blocks are on hex or i can do it in normal editor.

I don't know if it's possible but i want to ask if is it possible to make sprites of King.exe in 8-bit style. I mean i would need sprites for my MM4. Here's original sprites: http://www.sprites-inc.co.uk/files/EXE/EXE3/Navis/kingman.gif. I just want to put it as Dive Man. If you decide to do it i'll give you more details. Thanks in advance

- Some bugs are deleted (graphical and those about Mid Point and Boss Point)
- Names of some weapons are changed
- There are new GFX for some weapons
- Robot Masters AI are modified

I think to make missle looks like this horse on sprites (I want to use it later as dive man weapon). Firts attack animation could looks that he raising his hands (like in sprites). Second could be similar to heat man attack when he changed place (changed into fire missle). Also if it is possible i want to ask you if you would also do a 8-bit select icon for menu.

I've gotta question about the graphic. When I editing boss select screen there are only parts of mug shots (for. ex. Toad Man doesn't have eyes but in game they appear.) I want to know if this specific parts of mug shots could be find by tile layer pro (because i want to clear some of them.) If yes where to find them.

Fifth robot master done:



And next changes on hack:
- Every robot master weapon has got new name
- New order of boss weaknes
- New boss loading screen
- New mugshots

Next relase will come when I'll finish last robot master and I think it would be first official relase.

About Ballade Bomb (Atomic Bomb) i wanted to make it act more similar to Rush Canon from Rockman 4 MI I mean i want to make that explosion would be on bigger distance. And for now i working at mugshots but as i said on other problem i have problems with them (some parts can not be cleared via Mega Flex like eyes etc of fragment of Dive Man face)

Yes I want to use it. Seriously i want to replace everyone robot master wich other (King Man will be one of those). I'm trying to make also one done by me but for now I had done only animation and Mugshot. I called him Winter Man and he'll replace Dust Man. Here's mugshot:



and animation but attacks will be diffrent because I'm not good at ASM (i try to learn that)



I also want to show you that problem about mugshot wich I have



Everything don't like as i planned because there's lack of paletes that i can use (that's the reason why Kings Man cloak is gray and Magic Man is red). This screen is BETA and it would be comletly changed to make it look more prettier.

Yes some kind of it. I wanted to use it when I was working at Megaman Engine for GM 8 and use it as one robot master but I have problems with this program so i started to hack Megaman 4.
