I only made it to Olrox's level so far but I like what i see. The new music makes it feel alot different. Some of it is a bit catchy. It's good that optomon saw your talent Dr Mario, cause u guys make a good pair. U guys should tackle another project together, if u can find another game worth hacking. Hopefully a Castlevania one.

Well, it was Dr. Mario who noticed my talent and invited me to the project really, and I joined without hesitation after seeing tthe graphical enhancements he had done on the stages and the enemies. I'm not sure if I'm going to be so quick to take on another project, I'd really like to further upgrade my knowledge of programming first.

And Dr. Mario, I highly recommend updating the Chorus of Mysteries site, especially the screenshots. You have screenshots that were taken before I was apart of the project!!

The new music is completely original, except Dance of Pales.

There will be a second release. Basically, all I'm going to do is make level 2 easier and restore 4 power loss to level 5. I will also remove a few glitches and move a couple of candles around maybe and that's it.

And if you want rom via PM, please comment my Adv. lolo two hack demo (not joke.....).

Holding something people would like for ransom in exchange for attention to your works in progress is very pathetic and cheap, and it's a total disservice to the community when you make it intentionally inconvenient to get when you could otherwise just let them have it for free, like most people would (people would probably give you proper attention if you did so). If you want people to respect you and your hacks, then show respect to the community.

These are great, Sliver, keep going!

It Begins, nice catchy tune, I love how the main melody changes chords just a little bit earlier than the rest of the song on that last note in the first measure, adds great dimension to the theme. Don't know about the melody in the 3rd and 4th measure, sounds a little awkward.

Dark Beneath sounds absolutly wicked, very great and complete track.

Bass, percussion, and timbre all sounding very healthy, good job there.

Me and Koala-Knight are compiling a rom map for Castlevania, so I very hope it is of use for your hack.

well... nintendo was making this for the NES before they put it on SNES,.. but this obviously isn't it, still looks pretty good though

You are stupid. Nintendo never did any SMW developments on the NES.

Calling someone stupid for not knowing something is unnecessarily harsh. Knock it off.

First of all, don't tell me to knock anything off.
Second, calling someone stupid for handing out information that he made up in his mind and having no backup sources is totally justifiable.

Example: Didn't you guys know? Super Mario 64 was originally for the NES, but it was prolonged so they could have some tacos for lunch. It was a long lunch.

Well, that's totally not how I perceived it. I thought he honestly believed that SMW was originally being made for the NES, not something that he decided to make up. And you are trying to make it sound like it was a very unreasonable belief by throwing in that little Mario 64 example.

I don't know about you, but in general LttP and SM are younger, more well-known series (and overall, more fun; I can't enjoy Castlevania at all, your milage may vary).

Younger... more well known?
Are you on crack? LttP and SM:M3 (that's the correct title) are both about the same age as Castlevania as a series and as individual games. And they're not much more well known either. Most people I know that remember Zelda and Metroid also remember Castlevania, Megaman, and even Kid Icarus equally as well.

Xkeeper's not on crack, I think he meant as individual games they were younger. Castlevania came out in 1987 while Lttp and SM are from 1991 and 1994 respectively (I think). The point I think he was trying to make was that the Castlevania series is not quite as popular as those of these two games and I agree, and thus Castlevania hacks might not get noticed as much. However, to say whether one is more fun than the other is more a matter of opinion.

Ergh.

Teemu Selanne and Scott Niedermayer keep threatening to retire despite still being elite players in the league. But at least the Ducks seemed to have signed Scheider and Bertuzzi as something of security just in case the other two run off. I will disappointed to see them go but I could live with it.

Movie looks pretty cheesy, but because Transformers (along with Nintendo) practically defined the childhood of me and my brothers and sisters, I must see it.

I'll definitely try this thing out, I'm mildly interested in hacking Zelda 2; I recently figured out how the games sound works. Also good is its for OSX, something I have easy access to.

Are you sure that is not the second level? If so, it's the second time someone's made that complaint. It may have to do with the emulator it is running on.

Cloverfield/the new JJ Abrams movie. It looks like its going to rock socks off.
Why is everybody so excited about that? The fact that there was no information whatsoever (well, okay, it said "J.J. Abrams. What? You go find out what the heck it is! I'm not telling!") in the trailer made me decidedly uninterested in it. It was irritating.

Yeah, I sort of know how you feel, having driven across the I-10 in Arizona before...

People like it because it has shit blowing up in it, appeared to be caused by something mysterious and of titanic proportions. Though it looked a little lame, the concept was fairly intriguing. I thought it was a clever way to advertise it, and I certainly prefer it over something that is overly pervasive, like the Pirates of the Caribbean movies for example (I really hope it doesn't get to that stage). I can't say I really anticipate it though, just that I hope it doesn't turn out to be a piece of crap movie.

I'm compiling a document on the games music data, information which seems to be needed. I've already been able to make new music for the game.

I finally received this cart yesterday, and the cover art is abolutely glorious. It's been something of a precious little baby. Scary thing is, almost no one back home even knows I was making a Castlevania game so when they inevitably find out they'll probably shit their pants in some form or another.

As for the updated rom, this is the final version. In addition to it being slightly less difficult, a couple of bugs were corrected, including a couple invisible staircases and correcting a slight graphical misalignment on the spiked smashers in level 2 from what I recall, among other things. It's the version that is playable on the cart mentioned in this topic.

I had this sitting on my computer doing nothing for a few months and I was thinking of trashing it-- except I thought people might want to diddle around with it for whatever reason and observe some changes to Zelda 2. Basically, Link has been turned into a rabbit and the music is changed a little bit:

Rz2Demo.zip

Oh, some exemplary screenshots:

I'm also actively working on a text document to help explain how some of the game's music data works. I'll notify everyone when a draft of it is complete.
