It looks like it's a good idea to do without clearing everything because the information about Hammer Bros., Coin Ships, White Toad Houses, and other things isn't out there yet. If you happened to watch one of those things appear, then the game may crash upon entering because these particular sprites probably aren't set to point to the new level offsets (correct me if I'm wrong).
Well I'd say that if he keeps track of everything, it really shouldn't be a problem. If someone clears all the original level data out, they shouldn't be pointing to the offsets of the original levels anywhere anyway. Plus I'm pretty sure I already covered the basic key points to consider in the SMB3 thread. As always, if someone has questions, they should post and then we can all try to figure things out together.
Posted by zbyte
To avoid exceeding level and enemy data, simply download Quick Curly's documentation...
As you've even mentioned previously, I don't feel that's a real good reference since I didn't include the total number of object bytes which would have been more helpful than the 3-byte and 4-byte object totals alone. If anything, the concept of "custom offsets" is probably a more effective way to go because it eliminates the original levels even better than restricting yourself to the original level sizes, which also effectively minimizes the chance of ripping off the original levels as well because you don't have them to work off of.
Posted by zbyte
You don't have to base everything off of photographic memory.
This. As you become more familiar with the process of level editing, you can experiment. I build complete levels visually in my head and then "transfer" them over to SMB3 Workshop.
Posted by sspp03
IMPORTANT UPDATE: After watching some good SMB3 hacks and playing them, I thought about my own hack and I'm redoing it. This time, level and map design wil be refined, making sure there is no cutoff and other flaws in level and map design. I'll also be making two versions. The first version dubbed "Revenge of King Koopa Ltd" has levels restricted to the original offsets while the "Unlimited" version will have custom offsets (if someone creates and IPS patch that "clears out" the original object and enemy data sets).
Starting fresh is always a good thing because then you're redoing everything from scratch so it's easier to avoid doing anything you did wrong previously again. However, I don't see the advantage of making two versions of the same hack, especially if your level designs will be similar, and if they're not, why wouldn't you just do two separate hacks in that case? (Don't misunderstand me when I type that; I still say it's best for you to do only one hack at this time.) As for needing an IPS patch for that, once again, I will direct you to this post. If you can't manage to clear the original object and enemy data yourself, then you probably wouldn't be able to manage using custom offsets anyway, since you'd have to be comfortable with using a hex editor and be capable of keeping a record of the offsets that you end up using for your levels. If you need clarification on something, again, ask. However, I will not do any of the actual physical work for you.

There are differences when it comes to the "Ltd" and "Unlimited" versions. The "Ltd" versions is bascially a "minced" version of the "Unlimited" version. With fewer levels, restrictions to the original offsets, that is what the "Ltd" version is. The "Unlimited" version has all levels of the "Ltd" version are featured (using custom offsets of course), but some of them are extended to support more bonus rooms and more levels, but the wandering hammer bros will not be featured. Toad Houses and N-Spade (not the one when a certain score is reached) will not be featured in both versions. I'll at least give it a shot when it comes to learning and using a hex editior when it comes to the "Unlimited" version.

Does the zip have Extra super mario brothers?

It's one of the best SMB hacks out there IMO.

No, the link to the .zip file doesn't have EMB (Extra Mario Bros. abbrivated) but RHDN (ROMhacking dot net) still hosts the hack. Google Extra Mario Bros. and you'll see it hosted on RHDN.

Welcome Roboh25, I noticed you just released your hack on ROMhacking.net/ and acmlm's board 2. I'll try out your hack and make an LP of it.

Don't worry about it. I'll test it out when I get the chance. but rightnow I can't so, I'll do 'er later.

Also, sspp03...How could you do an LP on this if there is no percentage rate? (informed that I'm thinking Low%)

If there is a low percentage rate, it means not many know of my youtube account and videos, so me doing an LP of this hardass hack will give me a greater sense of identity on youtube. VirtualNES, Camstudio Lossless Codecc are used to make videos on NES games played on an emulator. Also, a famous LPer is on World 6 in this hack, so thats why I'm doing a LP of this ROM hack.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: I edited my post to undo the damage done to a certain LPer who PMed me on Youtube about my latest post.

I'm just wondering, when are we gonna hear from you aboutt this? I'm really wanting to play this, please update it soon.

If there is a demo or anything, where can I find it?

Sorry, real life issues came up, but there is an early World 1 demo on the uploader. Expect a large update soon.

Well, Quick Curly... I'm really grateful for your compliments made my hack, but really if not for a post that you created (last year), I never would have changed the music to every world XD. I must say that I am grateful that you put that post .

With regard to the talks made by Toad and Princess letters, I figured out the random hexadecimal alphabet . As could be observed, is a widely used text in my country (El Salvador).

I also want to highlight something. I have been noticing glitches in my game, I honestly really enjoyed this overlooked, but the truth you are right and that does not look very well when playing my game. Unfortunately I started my college classes recently, but when I have the opportunity, I will review all my hack!

P. S. If you do not understand my English, sorry, but the truth I speak fluent Spanish!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Those glitches were that you didn't spaced out enemies from different "clans" far enough. Check the enemy compatability chart to solve your problems. By the way, while the levels and world maps you made were creative, you could have used a little bit more palette variation for each level type created for their respective world themes. Also, I would like to ask, do you think the fortress music in the first half of World 5 was fitting?

Guess what! Although this is not related to my flagship hack, The Revenge of King Koopa, the patch I uploaded will help out with my "Unlimited" version as it "clears out" the object sets minus Toad and Spade Houses. The IPS patch will also benefit other SMB3 hackers who want to utilize custom offsets.

In case this wasn't painfully obvious to anyone with a brain, my previous post was purely ironic. The song is making the rounds as a most painful example of an involuntary parody of pop culture, and quite rightfully so; I found the notion of even as much as creating a thread to discuss its badness to be utterly ridiculous.

IT IS NOT UTTERLY RIDICULOUS blackhole89! I ONLY created this thread just so how the users of acmlm reacted to the song, which then I'm gonna flame Rebecca Black saying that she has NO TALENT WHATSOVER ON Youtube! By the way, did anyone posted hating comments on Youtube about that piece of shit!

Can I start facepalming now?

Where to begin, where to begiiiin.

1) Posting simply to say that you can't help? postcount++, no other purpose.
2) He's a "collector", so he probably should have found it already if it were on a ROM site. postcount++, intelligence--.
3) If he DIDN'T already do his own goddamn searching... intelligence-- postcount++
4) Oh god. Seriously? SMB3 is a goddamn NES game. All hacks of an NES game are going to play on NES emulators such as Nesticle, Jnes (for the love of god stay away from Jnes), or FCEU. intelligence-- postcount++
5) sspp03 isn't the one who told you you were in the wrong. intelligence--

Yes, I'm in a bit of a rant mood today.

Just because I am a collector doesn't mean I didn't do my OWN searching. Do you KNOW how UNAVAILABLE that hack is to download off the Internet, THERE WERE BROKEN LINKS! At most, Googie was kind enough to post a WORKING LINK so FUCK OFF Greymario and roxahris!

Me? Fuck off? What, because I was trying to clean out the topic before you and Ridiculousname Ino here had a long, ridiculous, and misinformation-filled talk about shit that would never lead to you finding the hack and likely make you completely miss over and posts like Googie's?
Furthermore, whether you like it or not, Grey Mario did have a point - in fact, all of his points were very valid and not directed at you. The fact that you responded to his post like gasoline to a match seems to show you have both reading issues and anger issues - both of which you should probably sort out.
Then again, if you're an LPer, it might be in your interest to keep those intact (some people like laughing at people getting ridiculously angry at trifles - who knew?).

Yamanaka Ino has reading issues, I don't, I have anger issues instead, so I'm sorry if I offended you in any way. Me misinterpreting a person's post is a rarity. I sorta accidentally misinterpreted GreyMario's post, so this is one of those rarities. Also, I got pissed off because that said user was undermining my intelligence of not finding it on my own [I was searching this hack for two years after watching metalchain's playthrough of this hack] and independence of finding said hack. I don't talk SHIT and with misinformation. The talk with Yamanaka Ino wasn't long (although her posts in this topic was ridiculous), but I was simply ansering HER questions and the reason I started this topic because four years ago, someone made a topic about another SMB3 hack and two years later, it wasn't available, but a user who already have this hack uploaded that hack on the uploader. I started this topic in hopes someone has it after two years of failed search on Google and I got my solution thanks to Googie.

Do you believe that shit the news is talking about that its gonna happen tommarow or you you don't believe. If you don't believe, it means that you don't know when it will happen! I personally don't know when it will happen!

You call that mean! Well, here's one that'll blow your brains out! There was this kid who keeps on annoying me. Like me, he is a 9th Grader. This fucktard and his annoying pals keep on asking me risque questions ranging from sexual identity to something I forgot to remember. He and his friends keep on mentally intimidating me and are pests that need to be extingushed. I have deliberately turned off his computer and losing all of his work. I felt some sense of relief but unfortunately, mental threats and dodging risque questions keep on pouring. I told the teacher about four times and has warned them, but when the teacher is absent, the hate reached a fever pitch. One of his groupies wrote a sentence on a dictionary site that actually reads your sentence. The message echoed: "Stephen is my best friend!"
WHEN I'M HIS BEST FRIEND!!! Oh how he justs irks me. At the top of my voice I screamed, saying this phrase: "STOP! I'M NOT WORK BEST FRIEND YOU PIECE OF SHIT! AND YOU MOTHERFUCKINF PIECE OF SHIT STOP ANNOYING ME! NO ONE LIKES YOU OKAY! DO THIS WORLD A FAVOR AND BURN IN HELL NIGGER 'CAUSE WE DON'T GIVE A DAMN ON YOU WHO ARE!!!!!!!!!!! WE CARE ONLY THAT YOU GET THE FUCK OUT OF THIS CLASS AND BY EXTENSION, THE ENTIRE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I never felt so good saying that. What's better, no referrals to the principal's office.

Edited sspp03's post for unnecessarily large image size.

Also, Just to re-iterate: this thread isn't for discussing who has the best story, here. It's for discussing the worst thing you've said to someone, just like the thread title suggests.

Besides, Yamanaka Ino's was better anyway; all sspp03 did was make his rivals laugh. Troll success!

If I had to share the worst thing I've said to someone, I'd pick one of the times I said some fucked up shit to my mother. I regret it, so I won't repeat it.

You're wrong. Those in quotes and all caps were my actual words said. What I said wasn't a story, that was the event in which I said those fiery mean words. Yamamaka's was nothing compaired to me.

Is this the right thread to make this post? If not, please move this.

Gamers, I have troubling news. In the US, a bill known as Bill S.978 which would criminalize the uploading and streaming of video games and music videos on the internet unless they have permission from the companies who make the games. This is NO JOKE, it would make uploading videos a felony in the US and carry a maximum imprisonment of five years if

1) Make or offer 10 or more public performances by electronic means, during any 180-day period, of 1 or more copyrighted works; and

2) If the total retail value of the performances, or the total economic value of such public performances to the infringer or to the copyright owner, could exceed $2,500; or

3) the total fair market value of licenses to offer performances of those works would exceed $5,000.

This is serious, theyre are petitions online that are opposed to the bill.

This is the full text of the bill: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=s112-978
