Possibly part of a larger picture in the long run. Also possibly instruction manual fodder. |

I don't know if you're still working on this or not, but I came up with a general idea for Boiler Man if you're interested.

Well I mean I was going off the sword weapon seeing how that's all I had to work with. I was thinking of having some sort of flame attack that comes out of the sword, kind of like the original idea you had for the ground boiler, but if you have some ideas for AI I could always rework the whole idea.
I'm not going to lie, designing a robot master was like a childhood dream of mine, so I mean I have no qualms about redesigning the whole thing to work for you. It would also be a nice side project for me seeing how I've been doing nothing but designing castle areas and monsters for the past year. Posted by Insectduel I don't know, is it? I've never even played the game. It looked kind of crappy. |

I always use this as my default palette when I copy and paste anything from photoshop/paint into YY-CHR. It seems to work really well for some reason. |

So I might be doing a fan edit to combine Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness into one clear concise film as an exercise in both film editing and looking at films objectively (The Evil Dead series is one a particularly like so cutting stuff out of it is going to be a bit of a test), also I'm doing it to get a little more used to Adobe Premiere Pro. One of the other goals of the project will be to make it more of a direct sequel to the first Evil Dead, picking up right where the final film left off.
On that note, if you're worried about spoilers for a film that's around 30 years old, then you shouldn't watch this. I made a two minute intro to replace the first 10 minutes of Evil Dead 2 that recaps the events of the first film. Sources I used are clips from the Book of the Dead edition of Evil Dead, the alternate opening of Army of Darkness, and the Opening title from Evil Dead 2. |

No one ever said what type of gaming goes here, so I want to see if anyone on this board actually played this at some point. I owned a lot of odd board games as a child, but this is by far the most bizarre. It was one of those ones that came with a VHS tape that had a time limit, and a "host" that would show up to interrupt the game play, generally in order to screw with the people playing. In some countries it was called Nightmare, in other ones it was called Atmosfear (Not to be confused by the other game called Atmosfear that came out later by the same company, which also involved a tape and a board with sections that had to be assembled). Anyways, let me know if you ever played it, and what you remember about it. Here's a video of the intro to either jog your memory, or give you a good laugh if you've never played it.

This is a demo reel showing some of my work as a cinematographer between the years of 2004-2009. Check it out and let me know what you think. |

So I clearly have no clue what I'm doing here, but I was having fun poking around the Mega Man 2 rom today, and I made a new weapon to replace the Quick Boomerang. I don't really have a name for it, but I'll explain how it works.
You fire two of them in order for it to have a full effect. The first mine sticks in the ground and disappears after a very short period of time. Once the second mine comes in close enough... BOOM! They explode! The mines, along with the explosion can damage enemies. Also if you hold down the fire button it will cause explosions to continue to happen. |

Well the Castlevania 3 hack is starting back up, so I might mostly just be using Mega Man 2 in order to learn how to do some stuff. I mean as it stands right now, I'm struggling to do the smallest asm hacks. |

I've been playing a lot of NES era Final Fantasy lately, so I made a couple of fantasy themed character drawings. I ran these through live trace in Adobe Illustrator to see how it would look, I kind of like it.

I'm not going to go into it too much because I'm overly medicated on Excedrine extra strength at the moment, but I'll at least list a few.
Simon's Quest Zelda II Majora's Mask Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop (This is a biggie, this is actually probably one of my favorite Wii titles) EA Sports Active NHL 2K9 for the Wii (Ugliest game of this gen probably, but also immensely fun) To some degree, Castlevania Judgment (It's fun to pass like 20 minutes, but I can get sick of it quick) Fun House for the NES (Let's get messy bitches) I don't know if this one counts or not, Final Fantasy II(J) (This one has more mixed reviews I think) |

Someone ripping off of other Rom Hackers?
My question is, so what? This kind of discussion comes up every once and a while in different forms. Normally though it's the question of modifying someone else's hack, hacking a hack is another way of saying it. I mean when you get right down to it, it's not like you can ever claim anything in a rom hack is your intellectual property, because you're stealing the original's IP to begin with. I mean it would be one thing to just take someone's hack and slap your name on it instead, but I can't really see anything crazy wrong with using elements from other hacks. I mean Insectduel even said in one of his posts that he used elements from another hack that were originally elements from Kirby games. So I mean I can't seem to find the disconnect where using graphics from another hack is bad, but using graphics from another official game is okay. It sort of needs to be able to go both ways. |

Posted by Quick Curly Word of mouth when it originally came out. A lot of people were totally turned off by the fact that it was a Zelda game with a time limit. Said people have since had time to actually play it and enjoy it, but it wasn't the most exciting idea ever when it first hit shelves. |

What?! People don't like ROTT?!
Fuck them. That's pretty much the best FPS ever, and the final nail in the Wolf3D engine's coffin. |

How many times can you not understand or forget someone saying no? Furthermore, I thought we weren't going to reopen this can of worms, or did I miss something? |

Posted by Insectduel Um.. wat? Posted by Insectduel Since when was there a moral compass as to what is and is not okay to use in a rom hack? Posted by Insectduel How is that even anywhere near sabotage? Their names aren't on these shitty hacks are they? The only thing you can possibly be referring to is the public image of the hackers that are getting "ripped off". If they're only in it for their "public image" then that's bullshit, not to mention one of your gripes with this guy. Furthermore are we ourselves not "sabotaging" real game companies (Capcom in this case)? Posted by Insectduel So a large majority of the sprites that are in these hacks aren't considered "stolen" because they were in the original game? Nuh-uh, it doesn't work like that. Rom hackers aren't the only ones that put a lot of hard work into the original games. Posted by Insectduel No thanks. Posted by Insectduel First real gripe in this thread. Posted by Insectduel More than most people are able to do. At least he had the ability to find the modified code and find the proper place to insert it. Posted by Insectduel I bet he's so sorry that his work doesn't live up to your standards. Posted by Insectduel No, you make yourself unmotivated. If someone was ripping off my stuff (and I mean my own, not even someone else's work) I wouldn't stop being motivated, because doing this is fun to me. That's a piss poor excuse for not being motivated. Posted by Insectduel Doubtful. Oh and again, how can anyone even begin to care about this? |
