You should skim that all down to still only having Mario, putting in a save system, and getting rid of all of the features except:
Unlockables
EXP system (Ummmm guys, it already tracks score, that's totally possible)
Money system (Again, the game already tracks coins. optomon and I are doing a variation of this in CV3 using the score, I'm sure the same effect is possible)
New Enemies
New Powerups

For your EXP system, make 3 levels instead of 5, increase the EXP needed.

Your 3 abilities you get from EXP can be, in this order
Spin Attack
Triple Jump
Fireball Charge

These elements would take a lot of time, skill, and patience to code naturally, but they would all be possible. I personally would suggest a couple of things if you ever want to see at least this much see the light of day.
Take less of a Director's approach. If this is a collaboration, then you're working with people. They aren't working for you. You should be working your tail off just as much.
Learn at least some basic fundamentals about ASM hacking, you should at least be able to know enough to help figure out problems.
Don't shoot for the moon. Think of a few strong features and base your hack around those, if there's room and at least one person skillfull enough to do it, then the other stuff can come later.

Wow... that DS actually took quite the beating. I mean really it wasn't until the hatchet where the casing started to break. Feel bad for the kid though. Shame they didn't record the part where his brother probably continued to pelt him with a broken DS, along with their mother making him "work off" the price to replace the thing.

Excellent work! Have you ever thought of placing the new 2x & 3x icon (8x8 pix I presume) somewhere in the sub-weapon box? Maybe placing it on the lower right of the sub weapon icon?

I dunno, with some weapons it might overlap, so if anything we'll might experiment with the idea, but as of last night everything was coded into the new HUD.

You can't see the 2x or 3x icons in that shot, but they're there when you actually pick up the item.

I can't rid myself of the impression that the only way in which SMW hacking evolved over the years is that instead of SMAS graphics, everyone uses the web2.0y "redrawn" graphics sets that circulate on SMWC nowadays.

Well put. It wouldn't be as bad if people found new ways to use the stuff. I mean I've seen SMAS graphics used really well in the past, instead of just replacing SMW with SMAS.

Oh. Didn't know that. Then yeah, fuck that kid, got everything he deserved.

**EDIT**
Hah, you gotta' love bad youtube setups. That kid's "old" DS was CLEARLY already broken, considering it looks like he set it on fire at one point...

Uh yeah, I'd say Rom hacking is doing like really well. I mean pretty much, quantity has been replaced with quality. That's generally a good thing.

Quality = a couple of REALLY awesome hacks

I dunno, it's an interesting idea, but I've never been a huge fan of people using ripped tilesets. I'd rather see something original. If you're having trouble doing it yourself, you should ask someone to help you out or something.

Despite a complete goodset, I can't think of a game I can rip a good base from to use as the Batcave tileset. Suggestions?

Honestly? I'm getting sort of tired of rips. I'd rather see something original to set it apart...

Don't worry about crediting me or anything. Save that precious credits space for people that did actual work for it. I just made the ones I made because I was bored.

Well I mean when was the last time you saw an update for that? I mean DD is cool and all, I don't quite get that "dead to us" comment, but he only works on stuff on occasion, and I mean rare occasion. He's got a life and all that fun stuff now.

Alright, then, here's an idea: go out in a blaze of glory, and make the first M-rated Sonic the Hedgehog game.

After all, what says glory like destroying a children's video game character?

I dunno, ask Sonic Team

Well, I've been on a laser disc arcade game kick lately, so I'm going to have to go with the Infanto-Ray from Space Ace. You never said it had to be a weapon you get to use. There's nothing more entertaining than making it to the end of that game, just to get blasted by it, turning you into a baby, and then getting sucked into space. That's just entertainment right there.

God Kawa, don't scare everyone off

Hi to all people here for SMRPG hacking. Take a look at the SMW hacking forum, SMWC if you want, and then .. never let SMRPG hacking become anything like it.

Seriously, what he said. I'm just happy it never really spilled over into general rom hacking. I mean we got our fair share of stupid, but man... I'd probably quit if it was that bad...
