Sheesh on the defensive haha, It wasn't really a rant, I was just letting you know. Anyways, you're on a rom hacking section of a forum, just about anything we talk about requires a keyboard or a gamepad. Oh and I've seen Gamecube/PS2/XBOX to USB converters for like $10, and I mean all three to USB.

Oh, and addition to my list
Ninja Gaiden, and that one actually might happen.

Ummm yeah, I'd rather see a video of someone laying the groundwork for something that could potentially be awesome in pretty much uncharted waters instead of seeing people go "fuck it, there's no real documentation for that."

It would be a lot different if it was something that's already been hacked extensively, but he's working on something that isn't. The more small discoveries people make for a game like SM64, the closer people will be to doing something pretty damn impressive.

So in short, keep up the good work.

If you're playing the PC Ultima Edition, then you were playing a pirated version with some tweaks to make it run a little better on newer machines. Generally it's a better idea to go with the official version of the game (even if you pirate it) and then add in the tweaks yourself, not to mention you have a better chance at adding in/getting support for other various mods for it, like the Hi-Res patch, a patch for a windowed mode, better map models etc.

You also learn Shadow Flare and Pandora's Box through the enemy skill materia, which are incredibly bad ass attacks. I generally use them a lot after I learn it.

Getting off my lazy duff and actually adding in some of these graphics.

A couple of familiar areas for anyone who's played the original CV. Don't worry the castle entrance isn't a carbon copy of the one from the first game, I just decided to throw in some similar structures.

There's the portal shortcut room

Which one of those pieces of meat looks the best to you, I need some opinions on this one because I kind of like them all, but I can only put one in the game.

The whole having to reload thing seems rather pointless imo, it just causes nuisance to the player.

I think that's partially the point, the theory behind it is that the player has to be careful with how he uses the base weapon. You can't just spam bullets everywhere, you have to be precise, and use it only when you need to. Personally I think it should be more of a pain in the ass to reload. Pressing up seems too easy, if anything you should only be able to reload by switching out of Mega Man form, and then back in. At least then it's two button presses.

Hey, comment on whatever you want really, why do you think I post a lot of screen shots. This hack is still in the earlier stages of development, so I like to hear about my graphics work so I don't have to go back and redo anything way down the road.

Weapon upgrades and subweapons are done. Maria's are the bird, the dragon, and the turtle, Armund's are the axe without a handle and the laurels. The bird will create two birds that home in on enemies, The dragon will fly across the screen killing anything in it's path, and the turtle will refill health at the cost of a ton of hearts. Armund's axe (if we have the extra space to do it) will be heavier so it will travel in a smaller arc than the normal one, and the laurels grant temporary invincibility.

3 Track NSF
Here's the first three songs that optomon has done for the hack.
Track 1: Opposing Bloodlines, Richter's theme used for the initial stage.
Track 2: Bloody Tears, much like it appeared in Simon's Quest. Probably used for the Clock Tower stage.
Track 3: An original piece likely designated for the Celestial Garden stage.

Also:

This guy has something to do with a new feature we're thinking of putting in. We have to really sell ourselves on it though.

you've never played contra? omfg! lol

beat it the other day.. took slightly less than 60 lives lol. it seemed like it was a lot longer back in the day though

Lol, I can complete contra only with two lives

VHS tape of it or it didn't happen. Can't trust DVDs with this one...
Anyways, that's looking great Trax. I can't get too too excited about it because I don't have a mac yet, but it looks really nice. Hopefully you'll release any documentation you have (if you didn't already) and someone will be willing to draw up an editor for PCs too.

Yeah I mean... it was a joke... and I was referring to you actually videotaping yourself do it instead of getting a direct feed from your computer (that way there would really be no chance of using save states), but yeah. joke.

Yes but when is the last time something like this was honestly considered even remotely amusing?

That time is now

So I guess I'm going to have to be the one guy that says it...
Be able to function under water (any depth) as well as I can above water.
I mean I'd pretty much be insanely rich from the combination of new underwater life form discoveries, precious ambergris, and underwater poaching. Also if someone was trying to kill me, I'd be able to escape to the depths of the sea.

So in other words, you want to be Aquaman?

Yeah, but like Aquaman if he wasn't a super hero and did more illegal activities like poaching sea turtles for money, that and I can't talk to fish, I just kill them.

Well put it this way, due to the way it was created, a NES could not handle it. It's not like they have all the old dev stuff for the famicom laying around, let alone people that know how to use it well on deck. This wasn't created as a NES game, it was created using the same tools available to any other new game, they just used it to make a product that is NES like in quality.

Like I said, it wasn't developed to be a NES game, just a NES-like game.

Semi-related. (Although I think it's more likely O'Reilly's "despicable, slimy, scummy" website in question was meant to be 4chan, not Wikileaks...)

Actually yeah, it was supposed to be Wikileaks. The damn site was down for about a day when the whole thing broke out about Palin's e-mail due to bandwidth issues... My friends and I were worried that the Secret Service arrested Sweden.

**EDIT**
"The person who hacked the account is calling himself anonymous"
lolz
"Anonymous" is a whole group of international whistle blowers... People just don't know what they're talking about anymore.

Below 0 F? Pssh, that's nothing.

In 8th grade we had a cold day. There was barely any snow.

I actually had a couple of those last winter in college. The school didn't have any choice but to close because the mayor called a state of emergency due to the temperature. It sounds drastic, but all it meant was that being outside wasn't safe so businesses had to shut down.

If anything, when I have enough money to scrounge up a points card and get the game legitimately, I'm going to get Endless Attack, Special Stage, and Proto Man.
I just beat it tonight, and I have to say that I love it. It had enough difficulty to remind me of the old Mega Man games along with keeping it exciting, but it wasn't so hard that I would get pissed off. I'm going to have to play through it again this week sometime.

I might be a taker, that sort of gave me a good idea for a MM2 hack that takes place in levels from different Mega Man games or something, it could be kind of a fun side project.
