Hey, I LOVE lazy shell, but I'm an extreme novice.. I'm having difficulty with a lot of things, but what I'm most worried about at the moment, is i don't know how to make my own dialogue.. when i go to the dialogue tab, it says there are 4095 different dialogues, but everyone of them are used, and i was just wondering if there is a way to create a new dialogue, instead of changing another

Add a custom weapon??? I really wanted to add a super weapon for after a really strong optional boss, but when i use the weapon i added, the game freezes

Thx! =]

Hey I'm really new to lazy shell, or rather, hacking period. But already I LOVE it! I noticed some problems when i try to do some simple things, like adding weapons.

I'm almost positive your not supposed to turn a "DUMMY" into a weapon.. is this correct? That's what i tried doing to make an ultimate weapon that you get after defeating culex, and when i test the weapon, the character using it, freezes...

any help?

Earthbound hacking is so much fun ^^

I kinda quit though, i got more involved in smrpg hacking.. But I'm really looking forward to continuing my EB hack.

This probably seems REALLY stupid to a lot of you, but it thought i would make it just for the heck...

You start off preferably in Onette (or even the northern continent since it's close to a pre-existing lab, and what looks like a simulation chamber), and as you make your way down stairs, your mom reminds you that you need to go to the professors lab and test a new technology: Simulation.

There are no random battles on the way to his lab, but there are events that take place, such as seeing your childhood rival who also wanted to test this new technology, but unfortunately was second to you during the pick. He challenges you to an easy fight, and after you pretty much tear him apart, he runs off.

Your rival also plays a big part in the hack, similar too pokey's part.

Basically, once you test the simulation, an error occurs and you are sucked into a virtual world, full of errors, glitches, anti-virus software, and even other beta testers.

The main antagonist of the story would be a virus known as Throx (excuse me if that name belongs to some other huge game figure, i made it up on the spot >,<)

Throx was made my your rival, in an effort to eliminate you once and for all.

Soooo any thoughts/suggestions? I don't mind if you say something harsh, just be helpful as to help me further the hack =P

Ill try to post some pics of the hack when i get the chance so far, I'd say my main character sprites are done as well as the other three characters you'll gain.

Well, one problem I'm having, is i don't know how to change backgrounds.. well, let me put that in better words: i know how to change the background of a given enemy, but i don't know how to customize a background, to make it look as though it is data flow as you said, or something out of the matrix so to speak.

But i made one of the bosses, and i did happen to stumble upon a background that does look REALLY glitchy..

Any info on how to customize a bg anyone? It would greatly help me out!

Oh and btw, Friedslick6, what do you mean by a fourth-wall breaking plot? Something along the lines of another dimension? because I did have some idea of time travel..

well please, feel free to suggest anything, I'm actually looking for things to add to the hack, and trust me, you'll be credited!

I was too young to remember much about it, all i really remember was the first tom dieing in lava? But then they made a new upgraded tom, and just kept upgrading him.. Was dragonball Z ever on toonami? that show was awesome. I really miss the old days of dragonball Z playing everyday...

I've had that exact message before, but i could still save and all.. But what i did to correct it is just re-downloaded the rom from the same site, and it worked perfectly fine.

I've experienced a rather major setback.. I was working a custom title screen, and i guess your not supposed to edit the company names... Everytime i load the game to test it, it freezes as soon as it hits the title screen.

Unfortunately I had to start over, because data got corrupted. my custom sprites are all glitchy and can't decompress, and blah blah.. So im going to start over, and try to make better use of a back up copy (yes i had one, but didn't think to use it) But not all is bad, I have the sprite that was corrupted saved in my photos, and not to mention that i don't have very far to go to catch up.. lol sry

How about some stalker guy, or angry old lady, or a crazed fan of mario!

And maybe a really fat cockroach...

I apologize if it's been stated already, but how do you change the level cap? i have been very eager to find out how, but everywhere i look says you can't... at least not with lazy shell.

My Zsnes failed to cooperate with smrpg as well. it occasionally froze when i equipped weapons or armor, and especially at the end of the star scene when you beat Johnny.
So i switched to Snes9x and it works perfectly, maybe even better than before!

Also i have a few questions..

1) (Really important!) i would just like to know where the hex information for the level cap is, or even better, how to change the level cap to anywhere from 50-99 -I already figured out how to change the money cap of 999 to 9999 so I'm somewhat familiarized with hex editing.

2) (also really want to know) How do i apply an IPS? I just downloaded a smrpg hack, and i wanted to apply it, but i can't figure out how...

3) why am i only seeing two available hacks to apply when i view the lazy shell patches tab? i figured there would be more seeing as how so many people on this sight post info on their own hacks..

LASTLY) Are there any other editors besides lazy shell?

EDIT: i figured out how to apply the patch... and upon playing it i noticed some... simularities... you said you made this whole hack by your self correct? and you thought it all up yourself?

... this hack is almost exactly like mine.. Of course its just coincidence =P i don't know how but many of the things this hack has are very, if not exactly the same as mine lol.. like macks name change to The Mackster, the amount of experience you gain from monsters is EXACTLY the same, including in the very beginning in bowsers keep the first time, they give off the exact same amount of exp and coins as my hack does..

it seems almost TOO coincidental, could i have perhaps somehow mixed the data? if so, HOW THE HELL DID I DO THAT? well anyways, i thought it was really funny to see how similar it is.. OH and the dificulty?? WAYYYYY TOOOOO EASY!! I spent no more than 10 minutes on fast forward in mushroom way, and i made it to level 13 by the time i fought hammer bros..

This is just a simple thread for new comers to ask questions about the board =]

My question is, "Is it a bad thing to post a lot here?" I noticed that I'm the most active user here in the last 1 day lol.. I don't want to get a lecture or banned for it =/

Also, what's the purpose of the equipment you can buy in the shop?

Super Luigi sounds pretty interesting..

Str- stats, making a good challenging battle weakness- mapping, and events

sorry if I'm a little late, seeing as how your also trying to get the wario thing done, but this sounded interesting as well.

I'm still getting the hang of lazy shell, but i can make some decent battles/boss fights, that aren't TOO difficult, but rather just right depending on if you didn't skip a lot of fights.

I'm starting to learn about events and mapping, although there seem to be too many problems, for example, a lot of things i do to try to edit a map results in lazy shell crashing.. But i figured out how to place sprite, triggers, event locations ect..

well i would be making this myself.. but seeing as how im not 100% sure why mine doesn't work, ill just give it to you.

my weapon is Kogorishima, no element, 9 on dmg scale, a slashing slashing sound kinda like bowsers spiked kink link when you hit it right.

description: wide like Cloud's sword, straight, long, maybe a couple of runes etched in the side, and tinted red

animation: just a horizontal two handed left-to-right swing, and if timed correctly, a two handed jab

Aww I'm really sorry to hear that.. your cat looks a lot like mine. I dealt with loss once before, my pet parrot got scared and hit its head on the wall, and one week later, it passed on. it was only less than a year old too i think.
