Posted by RichPosted by dirtbag Well the last straw was when I got off at Basingstoke to change to go Fleet I didn't have a ticket because I couldn't get to the guard on the train as it was so packed people could not move (as per normal). So I went to the barrier to ask for a ticket before I continued my trip to be presented with a fine. If my final stop was Basingstoke far enough but it wasn't. I proactively went and asked for a ticket and was treaded like a fair skipper. That and the steady fair increase means it now works out spot on the same in fule as it does via train. Also I no longer spend £2 a day on coffee and a newspaper |

Appart from the fact Basinstoke was not my final destiaion - it was just where I changed.
The crap part is that it wasn't check at Fleet or on my way back home. So if I'd just go on and nont asked for a ticket I'd not have got a fine! That'll teach me for being honest |

Sounds like a power issue maybe? One way to tell is to get a linux lve CD distro KNOPIX or something it boots the whole OS from CD and see it is stable. That way you know if it's hardware or software before blowing away your windows install. |

I’ve been reading up and I’ve come to the conclusion that using transparency in my hack going to require some hardcore ASM hacking. So I’ve given up on that idea but have now made my self curious. Does the SNES work on a whole layer at a time or could you set curtain pixels to be transparent while others are solid on one layer?
Has anyone added transparency in to a SNES hack before? I take it's not just a clever palette trick? |

Thanks for you quick response. I'm hacking Super Mario Kart, the aim was to make rainbow road translucent. By the sounds of things if I did manage to get it in to the game it would be the same for every track. |

Ohh a new fellow SMK hacker
Looks to me like you have changed the tile set for each of the original tracks (just looking at the screen shots.) As not all the tracks use the same tile offsets for corner bits etc. this must have taken you some time. I'll download this when I get home and take a proper look. This also will make the game hardcore as if you go off the track you'll fall. ____________________ *Edit* Okay so you have changed the tile set for the standard courses. It's ok play - it does make the game a fair bit harder. I don't think anyone knows where the items on the tracks are located yet(?), however there are one or two tracks where '?' boxes and coins are just to the side of the track, you should winden the track in those places. Also on a few tracks you need to tidy up the tiles used around the edge so they fit. Out of intrest what are your future plans for this hack? If you don't want to play with the hex side of things maybe you could think about changing some of the drivers? Wario, Link etc. That would kick ass. I don't have time to do them - I'm sick of drawing players after doing 7 out of 8 of my new karters. I'd gladly give you a hand with chaning the pallettes, drivers names and digging you out the lower body parts etc. |

Yeah I saw this last week, nice and handy because the notes I read on SMK Items didn't go in to the 1, 2-4 or 5-8 place and the use of different probabilities.
I think I'm going to turn on the lightning bolt on the battle levels in my hack but make it 1 in 32 as it works like an instant kill. It will also be handy for future tracks to turn off the feather where it might be used to skip a huge section of an over lapping course. |

Looking good GlitchCog. I've just started to mess with the level graphics for my hack - you may have spotted a few more 'unknown' palette colours submitted on your website. I got a bit fed up with drawing the racers, but I must finish them soon. Your race track backgrounds work well. |
